"We are on the 11th day of a 12 day visit, as others have noted, some negative reviews made me a bit apprehensive BUT those reviewers must have been at a different hotel. The Mirage’s staff are welcoming and helpful. On Western European standards the decor is different, but that does not make the experience any less enjoyable. For Brits, the clientele who are predominantly Eastern European may appear a bit dour and down at heel ( there are not many smiles exchanged), however this would appear a cultural difference which us Brits need to accept, it does appear personal, people here reserve smiles for people they know and in fact the way we greet everyone with good morning and a smile to these other customers may come over as insincere and somewhat suspicious, we just carry on smiling and spreading the love. It is like going back 20 years, most people smoke (everywhere) and you get the usual ****** who set an alarm for 06:00 to baggy a sun lounger! The hotel is lovely, clean and well placed, there is no entertainment so be prepared to go out at night to find it. The walk to Old Town hugs the beach line and is flat taking about 15/20 minutes. Unless you really need, stay away from taxis, they will try to charge you €25 to get back to the hotel which can be no more than 1.5 K. I would willingly come back and have enjoyed the whole holiday. HOWEVER , if you are easily upset by what we Brits may perceive as dour faced ignorance, then go to Spain where they will smile happily while they rip you off. The Bulgarian people are lovely and attentively honest and helpful, just don’t expect many smiles. And remember the smoking, in England we are lucky in that we no longer have to suffer passive smoking, not so over here, smoking is probably ranked second only to football as a pastime and that includes the table next to you when you are eating. "Lovely small hotel, very clean and tidy. A perfect night sleep (without any noise). Our room was above the smoking area (neither of us smoke). Due to the heat wave and being above the smoking area the air -conditioning was needed unfortunately, this was intermittent. I had to mention this to the Reception Team several times. By the 3rd day I asked to speak to a Manager. The Manager kindly offered us another room (shame this wasn’t offered earlier). This room was much better with a beautiful view, no smoking and with air conditioning, I couldn’t fault this. The evening entertainment (on stage) from Mon-Thurs wasn’t very good, the best night was Friday. Thankfully we had the animation team (M and V) they were fantastic, so welcoming, kind, polite, always smiling and very mature for their age. They both worked so well together. We joined in with so many activities; these ranged from darts, table tennis, pool, Uno and many more. Thanks to them we got to meet other lovely couples/families too. We all had a lovely time. Our stay wouldn’t have been the same without them. You are both amazing thank you so much."

"A wonderful, quiet and cosy hotel. You’re given a very warm welcome, as if you were special guests. The rooms are clean. Chris, the owner, is very friendly and attentive. He’s always there to help if you need it and happy to offer advice or recommendations. We were very pleased with the hotel. The location is also convenient. The most popular little restaurants and a grocery shop are nearby. It’s not far to the beach or the Old Town either. The breakfasts at the hotel are homemade and delicious. We’ll definitely be back there again someday :)"

" Instead of lemonade, water with artificially flavored syrup, soups were out, salad was modest with stale tomatoes and a single olive, seafood risotto and pasta with a little seafood, both with completely cold mussels on top and served with a 15 minute delay. At the end waitress asked how much tip we would leave."

"Thehotel is ok but!! And its a big but... cold food morning and evening and same choice every evening. Bars, well x2 close at 6pm along with pool, gym and spa. 1 bar open only very under staffed, most times no staff atall! Indoor pool very very cold. Never seen anyone use it as its so cold. No exchange at reception for getting local currency. Night time,the only bar that is open after 6pm closes at 11pm prompt. Evening entertainment terrible. Will deffinately not be comming back here again to this hotel. Staff generally around 22yrs old and not a care in the world. My official rating would be a 2 star... worst holiday in years as far as hotels go..."

"This was a nice room, moderately sized, with a fantastic view from the balcony. But the bed was unyielding when you lay on it and the bottom sheet was pilled and annoying. Apart from that it is a very good deal and maybe it was just our room with a bad bed. The hotel is badly signed - the only indication is hard to see easily in a side window. If you are towing a bag, go along the road below and carry up the steps. What is showing as a road to the front door is a roughly cobbled track."

"It's not our first time in Nessebar, but it was our first time in MPM Arsena. We went to other hotels in that area and none of those was that bad. The good parts: - the food was ok, enough choice for everybody and it was fresh - the pool was clean - the bar had many choices for drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) - private beach - location - right on the beach - beach bar The bad - by far, the room was the worst thing about this hotel - cleaning was the worst that I have seen, speaking about long-term cleaning (mold between the tiles, stained sealing, stains on the walls, see the pictures) - we tried to change our room, but they didn't want to change it - the toilet was leaking, addressed to the reception but nobody came for the whole of our stay (4 days). More than that, the person from the reception was trying to explain to me in a bad English that maybe it's not the toilet, but from the ceiling. - the windows in the bathroom was so badly positioned that people from the other room could see me siting on the toilet - the view was to another room - in the room was so cold, that I came back home with a cold. Tried to adjust the temperature, but the thermostat didn't work at all; even switched off ventilation completely from the thermostat, but ventilation was still on. - the chairs on the beach don't have a small mattress on them, you sit just on your towel - on the private beach there was no "security". People that were not staying in the hotel were coming and sitting there and someone even took my chair while we were in the water. - the beach bar didn't have all the drinks - the outside of the hotel looked dirty - some of the stuff didn't speak English and were sometimes rude If you ask us, you are better off to another hotel than this one."

"So looking forward to our holiday but to be honest we are very disappointed.. the lack of evening entertainment and the bar shuts at 10 pm.. one member of bar staff so the queue is horrendous.. no bar snacks.. the daytime snack bar isn’t a snack bar at all.. never have I been to a hotel that doesn’t have a self serving snack bar with burgers , sandwiches, salad and chips etc.. to save you dressing properly and going into the restaurant.. The choice of food in the evening is very limited.. it’s like a budget all inclusive.. they clearly don’t want you eating or drinking.. needs a serious update and to find out what all inclusive really means …the bar and restaurant cooks are rude and unprofessional.. Spoke to lots of guests and they all said the same thing .. very disappointing and unfortunately we will definitely not be returning or recommending this hotel to any of our friends… lack of information about anything and cards to access the lift AND toilets .. ridiculous…"
