Sonder the Vitascope Apartments French Quarter

We loved the apartment-style, finding it ideal for our family - 2 adults and 2 teenagers. One teen slept on the couch in the common area and the other slept in the 2nd bedroom. Location was ideal - just on the edge of everything we wanted to visit, and right next to the streetcar. We used the streetcar half of the time and just simply walked from the French Quarter back to the room the other half. The space was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The only complaint my family had - and this wasn't big enough to drop the rating from 5 stars - is that there's very little water pressure in the shower.

When technology fails you! Codes to get into the property didn’t work. We had to wait until another guest happened by. The whole idea of having to download their app and only getting communication through the app is a bad practice. We couldn’t get on the internet. No WiFi so no access. Also couldn’t leave as we’d never get back in. Horrible experience.

The building entry key pad was difficult to use. Others had issues as well, including one staff member. We were there for a 3 day stay with 3 people. They gave us 2 days of coffee, 2 bath towels and no bath hand towels. There were no luggage lockers open so we had to pay for an early arrival and it took more than 30 minutes of the 1 hour I was forced to purchase to get a working code for the unit door. The unit was in the back and was very quiet for the area. This was nice. The bed was comfortable.

Amazing location and great space - felt like a secret getaway right in the heart of NOLA. Good instructions. Only thing we didn't like was that we had to download the app for Sonder - but not really a big deal.

Not the best place to stay First thing when we arrived was one bed was broken. Frame was detached from headboard and nobody on site for help. Surely the cleaners/linens people knew it. So our 2 men had to work long and hard to repair with no tools. If all girls there we were out of luck. Then the bathroom shared by 4 people was spacious but had only 2 towels. And again, who to call?? And it had a sink with VERY small counter. There was room for a table but none there and 4 sharing the bathroom and btw there were no dressers in bedrooms. In the kitchen, we took coffeemaker out of cabinet but COULD NOT put on counter bc it was too tall to fit under the top cabinets so we found a plug in the hallway and set it on the floor. There were big beautiful window in the living area but overlooking an alley full of trash dumpsters and bright glaring lights night and day. Noise to dump trash was bad. Easily remedied if there were noise and light filtering curtains but none. One day someone dropped a daiquiri on the floor at entrance and it remained there for quite a while. Who to call?

Beautiful apartment in perfect location The apartment was lovely and located in the perfect spot for watching most Mardi Gras parades that came down Canal. Perfect location for doing anything in the French Quarter. Parking options near by. Overall it was a great place. The only issue was the lack of on-site management because we had 4 adult staying for two nights and they gave us two towels. After a long day of travel and then trying to enjoy the evening, we were not able to shower. After multiple calls and chat messages where they were telling us where to find extra towels, we discovered that there were no extra towels. Initially, they said they would get us more towels within 24 hours. We could not wait that long to shower. Finally someone agreed to get us our towels in the morning. They showed up just before noon with two more towels and detergent pods so we could wash our towels if we needed fresh towels for later in the stay. Had to plan part of our weekend around towel deliveries and washing and drying towels. They offered a $50 credit for a future stay for our troubles. A $50 credit in the future given the price of their rentals isn’t really helpful. If they wanted to give $50 for our troubles, it should be a refund or something more useful than $50 for some possible future booking.
