I have lived in NYC 20 years, and occasionally, we like to play tourist in our own city. My husband and I decided to stay a night at the Moxy LES in celebration of my 40th birthday. I even talked another couple who were celebrating with us into getting a room too. I chose this location as I saw the beautiful roof bar advertised and thought it’d be fun to start our night with a cocktail on the roof with a few friends before setting out to my main celebration elsewhere. Having stayed at several other similar hotels in town like Sixty LES, I never had an issue grabbing a cocktail at the rooftop bar. This was not the case here. I arrived with a group of 7 to head to the Highlight Room at around 7pm (wayyy before the nightlife rush!), and was told I had “priority” as a guest of the hotel, but first I had to commit to spending $350 for us to come up. Don’t advertise your bars as an amenity of the hotel if they are not freely accessible to guests. What if my friends just wanted a nice lemonade and to check out the view?? I guess they’re not welcome or that’s a lot of lemonade we’d have to buy! Just to note: Loosie’s, the club in the basement of the hotel with the “no-attitude dancefloor” — to quote the hotel website — is notoriously snooty at the door, and guests of the hotel are not prioritized for entry there either. We had other plans that night so didn’t even bother, but word to the wise. As for the room: Yes, they’re small. Expected in NYC, and was fine for us since we were only staying 1 night, but I would not want to stay here longer than a couple days. There is no real closet. Just a few hangers on a bar on the wall (some under the television!) so your clothes kind of have to hang flat against the wall. There are cubbies under the bed for storage. Not ideal in such a tight space. I stubbed my toe on them more than once. Maybe I’m clumsy or maybe it’s just a bad design! The light situation is super weird. I don’t know if our lighting was accidentally installed incorrectly, but in order to turn the bathroom light on, you had to have the main room light on. The main room light could be turned on separately. So basically, if you needed to go in the middle of the night, you either had to pee in the dark or turn on the lights of the whole room while your partner is sleeping! (Possible we didn’t see another light switch somewhere but I’m pretty sure the only switches were 2 by the door.) Toiletries: The shower had 2 pump bottles (sustainable. I respect that!) — but one was filled with a shampoo/body wash combo — and the other conditioner. I would expect something a bit more luxe even for a 4 star hotel — and certainly a separate shampoo and body wash! There was no lotion, which is usually standard in even the Holiday Inn. There was one small bar of soap for hand washing. No places to hang towels. I had to throw mine over the top of the shower door. Towels were pretty scratchy too. They do have a steamer and hair dryer. Bless! There was no fridge

The room is small and cannot accommodate an extra bed. The location is excellent, and the Brooklyn Bridge, Wall Street, Ground Zero and other attractions are within walking distance; the subway station has Fulton Station, and the Municipal Park can take the Park Station on Lines 2 and 3. There are slippers and an electric kettle can ask the front desk. The downstairs bar is good. There are many places to buy breakfast around the hotel, and there is a supermarket to buy fruit drinks.

First let me start by saying that I was contacted by the hotel for feedback following my stay. I asked via email and voicemail to have the General Manager give me a call and waited before writing this review. I asked the Director of Guest Services for follow up and still have not been contacted. Check in-We had a great experience at check with the front desk. The agent was efficient and friendly. She followed up with a phone call to the room to see that everything was ok which we appreciated. Room-The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was a little small. Housekeeping-At check in we were told to call before noon if we wanted housekeeping. We did call and were told that they could only pick up trash and bring clean towels. I know this has changed since the pandemic and we were fine with this. Bar and food- We did not receive any welcome drink or champagne so after we settled in we went to the bar for a drink and something to eat. We were told that there was a private event and that they could not accommodate us. After some push back the hostess said we could sit down for one drink but must be done in 20 minutes. I understand private events are lucrative but there should always be some space for guests to relax and get a drink after a long journey. Before arriving I had called the front desk and asked to speak to a concierge about reservations. I was told that all of the reservations for the restaurant and jazz club were made via Resy and that I should book them myself. There was no priority for guests and no concierge service to help. I never saw a concierge in the lobby during my 3 day stay. We had a great time at the jazz club and the host was wonderful. We coordinated the experience on our own with no help from the hotel. Noise-We were a little worried about the noise in this hotel as the rooms open to the bar area. Our room was on a high floor it was not that bad and the music shut down around 10:30 pm. They have installed a white noise devise that sounds like a broken air conditioner which was worse than the actual noise. There is some city noise as rooms are facing busy streets but that did not bother us. What did disturb us were the guests next us. You could hear the other guests late at night. Definitely a party hotel. Amenities- The web site states Wi-Fi is free which is great. There is a 34.95 dollar a night room charge. Not sure this is justified. We had no champagne greeting, were not able to enjoy the bar due to a private event, no bathrobes, and no priority at any of the restaurants or clubs. When I completed the guest survey the response I got was if I wanted a bathrobe I should ask for one. Booking- I booked this hotel directly via the hotel website. That was a mistake. After the first night we looked to change hotels. The hotel had rates much cheaper than we were paying on most all of the third party websites. Located opposite Columbus Park, convenient. The room is small. The room is fully equipped, but the cold air conditioner can't be turned off when checking in. The front desk service was very good and the heater was delivered in time. It is understandable in a place like New York where the land is inch gold.

The hotel is located near the Manhattan Bridge and near the train station. The staff was really friendly and helpful. The room lighting was a bit dim but overall pleasant stay.

Everything else is fine, but when we checked in, we told us that the door lock is broken. We can't give me the door card. Every time we come back, we must find the staff to open the door. It feels inconvenient, the location is good, and the hygiene is also very good! recommend!
