Very good location. Lexington and 23 rd. Quiet area mid town. Safe. Lots of restaurants and supermarkets nearby. The cafe downstairs - Smile to go had good coffee and simple breakfast menu that was tasty and affordable. Folded egg muffin was delicious.

I was able to stay joyfully while helping my son settle into college. I would like to come back to this freehand hotel when I visit New York again.

It was very clean and tidy. The location was optimal and right in the middle of the city. Perfect for all types of stays.

It wasn’t my first stay at Freehand. The location is 10/10, same with service and overall experience. It’s my go-to option every time I’m in the city.

Positive: The staff is very nice and friendly and it’s well located Negative: the rooms are quite small. We found it absurd that we had to pay 40 USD per night for water and WiFi.

We had a lovely stay. The hotel is a few min walk from the metro, and there are plenty of restaurants and attractions close by. The room had beautiful artwork and although it was a bit small, we had plenty of space for two.

Housekeeping ladies were very helpful, good experience.

This location worked well for my friend and I traveling to NYC for a show that was nearby. True to all NYC hotels, the room was teeny, but we loved the decor and the bunk bed set up. The shower was nice and there were lots of fun details. The amenities were seriously lacking though. We were charged an 80$ "resort fee" during our stay. When we asked the front desk what that included we were told that it gave us gym access - whoopdidoo - and it was for the "amenities in the room." There weren't any that went beyond a normal hotel stay so I found this really annoying. There were robes, a hair dryer, a steamer, a television, a space heater (more on that later), a small notepad, a pencil, a safe, and an unusable teeny fridge. There weren't even bottles of water or info on the wifi in there. When we entered the room it was sweltering. The thermastat was set to 86! and the space heater was on high. I'm glad I noticed the space heater because it was a true fire hazard. It was odd no one mentioned that to us as we were checking in and it definitely could have been on since the previous visitor.

Decent location. But wayyyy over priced for what you’re getting. No service. Zero amenities. Small rooms. Noisy rooms. And all that for Althea price of a five star hotel ? Seriously ???

Perfect for a group of friends traveling. The 4 bunk beds room was much more spacious than expected.

The rugs were very dirty and the beds were not very clean. There were still left over stuff from other guests in the room when we checked in.
