Disappointing service, loud room and air conditioner false advertising with a beautiful rooftop pool - closed for the season???!!! I had booked the hotel because of the pool!!!!  Was given a very tiny room couldn’t unpack suitcase  Photos on website show beautiful pool and lavish foyer but rooms are tiny with old fashioned floor air conditioner which was very loud Unhappy experience never going back

Absolutely wonderful and beautiful hotel. The shower was next level. The water pressure and temperature was insane for tenth floor. The roof top pool , and amenities were once in a life time.

The location of the hotel right near the Lincoln Center and Central Park is great. The room is comfortable and the staff are helpful.

The location is excellent. The lobby looks spacious and inviting. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. The rooms are terrible, and the biggest problem is the noise. They are outdated and have poor soundproofing, which is disastrous for the rooms facing the street, given the location in the theatre district at the confluence of Broadway and Columbus Avenue. Rooms facing the courtyard, on the other hand, are affected by a steady humming sound created by a dozen giant rooftop AC units on the roof below, which the windows are unable to block out. The air conditioning unit in the room itself is old and very loud; it is impossible to have it running during the night. I also woke up at 2 am to a noise that sounded like a vacuum cleaner outside my room. It turned out that the guest next door was taking a shower. Added to this are some cleanliness issues on the floor. The pool area was closed and inaccessible during my stay. At a starting price of $400 including fees per night, it feels like a complete rip-off for a room that does not fulfil the basic conditions for a good night's rest. I cannot understand how this hotel can maintain its four-star rating, and I would not stay there again.

BUYER BEWARE: I booked a two-day nonrefundable stay at The Empire New York as a first-time user of Trip.com. In my haste, I accidentally selected September dates instead of the October dates I needed. As soon as I realized my mistake, I contacted Trip.com to try to correct the dates, and also contacted the hotel directly to see if they would accommodate the date change. I even offered to pay any additional price difference. No one at the hotel ever returned multiple phone calls or emails - not did anyone at the hotel mgt company. Trip.com did at least engage but after more than a week of back and forth they told me they were powerless to change the dates or issue a refund without the hotel's consent. This was a costly $775 mistake on my part - money they pocketed for a room they were able to resell. Don't take the nonrefundable policy lightly. Both parties were very inflexible.

This was the worst experience I’ve ever had for traveling. At first I, the spanish(?) guy at the front desk gave me the room which was all messed up. There was no furniture whatsoever in the room, and there were holes in the ceiling as if it were still under construction or it seemed under the renovation. So I went back to the front desk and told him about it. Then this was the worst. He said “like was the bed in the air? haha” with laugh with no apologies. I felt like he gave me that room on purpose because his attitude was so bad from the first time when I checked in. I’ve never seen the hotel staff like him before in any country. How rude. No hospitality at all. And when he gives me the new room key, he just put the room key on the desk with no words but laughing like making fun of me. The room was also so dirty too. It seemed like they don’t even cleaned. Also there was no amenities. Such a waste of money. They ruined my trip.

The location is absolutely unbeatable—being just steps from Central Park, Lincoln Center, and the subway made exploring the city so easy. We also loved the atmosphere. The rooftop bar is a gem with a great vibe and beautiful view, good drinks, offering a perfect spot to relax after a day of sightseeing . Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. If you are tall, it’s better to book a room with a king bed. The hotel’s design is great! There are many restaurants nearby and a Starbucks right downstairs As a fun bonus for TV fans—the hotel is famous for being featured in Gossip Girl (as Chuck Bass's hotel) and the new Dexter: Resurrection series . It was exciting to stay in such an iconic spot!
