Subway station close by. Door men were really helpful. Big thank you to Jimmy who was really helpful. Concierge was really helpful getting us great tickets to shows. Breakfast was ok. Charlie Parker Steak across the road had excellent steak.

Furthermore, this hotel is in the middle of everything. It's very easy to walk to nearly every tourist destination and it's right on the hop on/hop off bus route. The first thing I will mention is that the hotel is 5 star and is expectedly, very expensive, being in the heart of Times Square. I took this into account when writing my review. If I am paying that much, my expectations would be higher than normal. I stayed for 12 nights over the Christmas and NY period so I obtained a very comprehensive view of the hotel and everything about it. Overall it was a very comfortable stay and the staff were always there to attend to any requests and issues. The moment I got out of my transfer car, there was a lovely young gentleman waiting to get all my bags and transport me upstairs to the reception. The check-in was reasonably flawless but there was a bit of confusion around the payment because of resort fees the hotel charges daily. I prepaid my booking and there was confusion over whether it included or excluded the resort fee. The reception area is immaculately presented and the bar and restaurant are both located here. I intended to use the gym during my stay, but didn't have time to even take a peek. Nor did I visit the bar or restaurant. There's way too many options outside to do that. The very polite and courteous young gentleman then took me up to my room. He showed me everything and away he went. I got a bit of a room upgrade which I highly appreciated and had a beautiful view of Times Square. I was on the 2nd highest floor, floor 39. The room is not big. It was adequate for one person but nothing more. I don't think I would be able to stay here if I was with another person. It would be too uncomfortable and I had to find space for my 2 suitcases and carry-on. The bathroom is open plan, with a door for the shower and toilet. A big problem I had in my room was that if it was windy you will hear a loud whistle coming through the bottom of the front door. It really annoyed me. I had to take the cover off the bed and make a snake shape to block the gap underneath the door to stop the noise. Even a bath towel didn't work. They need to fix this. The hotel is very new and the rooms are very beautifully equipped, presented and maintained. I was pleased to see that most of the things I requested before I arrived (some extra bath mats, bath towels, hand towels, face towels, mini fridge, bathroom scale) were mostly there upon arrival. I quantified the number of towels I needed as I was not getting any housekeeping during my 12 night stay but I did not get the quantity requested. I expected a bit more attention to detail for a 5 star hotel. Before I arrived I was asked if I was celebrating a special occasion and Guest Services pushed up my expectations as I was celebrating a special occassion and they said something nice, I assume maybe a cake or some alcohol would be waiting for me in the room. When I arrived there was nothing. And there was never going to be anything throughout my stay. I didn't mind and only remembered towards the end of the stay. Refinery is first of all a good location. It ’s convenient to go to Broadway to watch a show or to go to midtown. The nearby Bryant Park has my favorite breakfast shop. West 40th Street has good Spanish food. Michelin ’s chef ’s table is the highest in the world at West 39. Street ... you can understand so much. In fact, the room facilities are just like that. In contrast, I prefer their hotel public facilities and bathrooms. Their rooftop is a relatively popular restaurant with nice night views.

Amazing hotel in the best area , close to everything . Hotel itself clean , cute cozy. Room is very decent, we see the Empire State from our room , breakfast has hot and cold stuff and to go food if you want for a snack , I loved their coffee. People from reception, breakfast team, housekeeping are decent , helpful and working hard. They hv a cozy cute table downstairs for a drink or the 26th floor which is the top notch to see NY and direct to the Empire State. My only recommendation pls do a deep clean for the carpet in z rooms as we noted stains . I def recommended and will go there again and again

Great location. But the service standards absolutely disappointed. In room telephone was not working and despite repeated complaints it was not repaired through my stay of 4 nights. So basically we had to go down all the way to reception every time we wanted something at the room. From toiletries to food to water. Even the front desk as well as the duty manager simply expressed inability to do anything about it Initially even some of the lights in the room were not working. Clearly one of the worst stays of my life at a big brand hotel All in all a big disappointment

Great location in Midtown, just blocks from the Empire State Building, Macy's, and several dining and breakfast options. Easy walk to subway and even Times Square (20 minutes). Rooms are small, but clean and very comfortable. (We were impressed by how much storage space was available in the room.) Amenities are not fancy (small restaurant with limited options, small gym), but it's an excellent starting point for exploring the city. There was some noise bleed from neighboring rooms, but none from outside.

Later, under the coordination of Ctrip, a part was returned, and Ctrip helped me to pay the rest. Thanks for Ctrip's support! The hotel received $ 162.76, but in the end it charged me $ 413.41, more than $ 250! The pre-authorization at check-in was only $ 187.76, and the front desk had no objection to the pre-authorization account at check-out. Because the plane was late, I arrived at the hotel at 1 o'clock in the middle of the night. The lady at the front desk helped me to check in very quickly. It was the speed of New York. Hotel location is very good. About 5 minutes walk to Fifth Avenue, turn to Central Park, and the subway station will walk for 5 minutes. I did not notice sound in my room despite being right in the center of action in Times Square. If you like being close to tons of people (I do) then this is a great spot. If you prefer a quiet spot, be aware of the proximity to all of the people. Based on the other reviews, I double checked my bill. The credit for food was not correct. They were helpful and fixed it after I asked. The patty melt was delicious! Overall I would stay again, but was just a little annoyed that I had to request that the bill be corrected. The room was clean and comfortable.

Excellent resort! We travel to NYC constantly, and this was the first time we stayed at this hotel. It was comfortable, the front desk staff was friendly and very helpful. They honestly did a great job making us feel important. Regarding the other staff, it was hit and miss. The 2nd floor bar had a lady that was native to NYC that was probably not having a great day. The rooftop bars also had a guy that wasn’t too happy to be working late at night. However, the 7th floor bard was excellent! I have to take a moment and give recognition to Louis Garcia. He’s an excellent bartender and all around a very friendly guy. He has great customer service skills. I would definitely recommend staying here. We will be back!!!!

Great location for a person seeking the heart of Times Square. There are various levels of rooms so don’t be offended if you don’t book a city view and then get a window with a view of a building. The entrance was decent, yet for a W hotel, I never saw a doorman on site. We never had staff assist us with our bags either. The initial impression after the primary door is decent. They turned it into an sort of underwater experience. With this being said the four nights we stayed there I also never once saw a security guard as you first enter leaving a bit of safety concerns up for grabs. From there you have to catch an elevator up to the main lobby which is nicely decorated. Upon checking in don’t expect to be greeted with a smile (even if you have rank as a bonvoy member). Just get your key and go. As for the room the overall appearance is dependent upon the level of room you choose, so to be impartial I won’t give my opinion on the rooms. I will though, continue to comment on the lackluster service as that aspect should be stellar across the board. Upon asking for recommendations for the city we were handed a crumbled, partially torn paper with a generous number of locations, no additional information was provided by the staff. The night before checking out I found myself in need of a razor. I called guest services and they advised they’d be able to provide one. 40 minutes had passed and still no razor. After burning much time just waiting, I decided it would probably be faster for me to walk to CVS buy one and come back (which it was). Again, I mention the location is prime Times Square making every item the hotel forgets to bring you, easily found and easily accessible by foot. The cocktails at the “Living Room” bar are horrible. They range from $20-25 per cocktail and if you light a cigarette near it, you’ll probably catch on fire from the amount of unshaken liquor in the glass. A heavy pour isn’t always a good pour especially when you’re looking to actually be able to walk the city. We have the living room bar 3 tries before deciding to just have our first set of cocktails outside of the establishment. A benefit is that the W gives you $25 to spend at the bar daily with your $25 resort fee. For the first time in my life free wasn’t actually better. I really would love a call from someone at the establishment as I am certain the experiences my wife and I dealt with are not the “norm”. Overall, do not recommend. I would recommend The NY Marriott Marquis.
