First, I'd like to thank Daniel, Efren, Omar, and the entire staff for their excellent service. They made this trip truly enjoyable and demonstrated why one should choose to stay at the CDMX above all other options. The hotel is beautiful and a truly luxurious experience. Furthermore, this hotel is in the middle of everything. It's very easy to walk to nearly every tourist destination and it's right on the hop on/hop off bus route. I would highly recommend for you trip to CDMX.

The first thing I will mention is that the hotel is 5 star and is expectedly, very expensive, being in the heart of Times Square. I took this into account when writing my review. If I am paying that much, my expectations would be higher than normal. I stayed for 12 nights over the Christmas and NY period so I obtained a very comprehensive view of the hotel and everything about it. Overall it was a very comfortable stay and the staff were always there to attend to any requests and issues. The moment I got out of my transfer car, there was a lovely young gentleman waiting to get all my bags and transport me upstairs to the reception. The check-in was reasonably flawless but there was a bit of confusion around the payment because of resort fees the hotel charges daily. I prepaid my booking and there was confusion over whether it included or excluded the resort fee. The reception area is immaculately presented and the bar and restaurant are both located here. I intended to use the gym during my stay, but didn't have time to even take a peek. Nor did I visit the bar or restaurant. There's way too many options outside to do that. The very polite and courteous young gentleman then took me up to my room. He showed me everything and away he went. I got a bit of a room upgrade which I highly appreciated and had a beautiful view of Times Square. I was on the 2nd highest floor, floor 39. The room is not big. It was adequate for one person but nothing more. I don't think I would be able to stay here if I was with another person. It would be too uncomfortable and I had to find space for my 2 suitcases and carry-on. The bathroom is open plan, with a door for the shower and toilet. A big problem I had in my room was that if it was windy you will hear a loud whistle coming through the bottom of the front door. It really annoyed me. I had to take the cover off the bed and make a snake shape to block the gap underneath the door to stop the noise. Even a bath towel didn't work. They need to fix this. The hotel is very new and the rooms are very beautifully equipped, presented and maintained. I was pleased to see that most of the things I requested before I arrived (some extra bath mats, bath towels, hand towels, face towels, mini fridge, bathroom scale) were mostly there upon arrival. I quantified the number of towels I needed as I was not getting any housekeeping during my 12 night stay but I did not get the quantity requested. I expected a bit more attention to detail for a 5 star hotel. Before I arrived I was asked if I was celebrating a special occasion and Guest Services pushed up my expectations as I was celebrating a special occassion and they said something nice, I assume maybe a cake or some alcohol would be waiting for me in the room. When I arrived there was nothing. And there was never going to be anything throughout my stay. I didn't mind and only remembered towards the end of the stay. Lovely hotel, great location, great rooms and nice staff. Our two rooms were really lovely. Great air conditioning. Quiet for New York. Location amazing, walk across the road to Times Square. Subway station close by. Door men were really helpful. Big thank you to Jimmy who was really helpful. Concierge was really helpful getting us great tickets to shows. Breakfast was ok. Charlie Parker Steak across the road had excellent steak.

The primary reason we chose this was because of its proximity to the Peloton studios, and that did not disappoint. We were a 3 minute walk away from peloton which made getting into the live classes super convenient. The hotel itself is great- very clean, friendly staff, and decently sized rooms for NYC. Overall, we were very happy with our stay.

Also on our last night helped us tremendously as far as transportation to the airport since there were road closures due to a parade We were able to get a car right at our door and not have to use a taxi nor other! Amazing hotel in the best area , close to everything . Hotel itself clean , cute cozy. Room is very decent, we see the Empire State from our room , breakfast has hot and cold stuff and to go food if you want for a snack , I loved their coffee. People from reception, breakfast team, housekeeping are decent , helpful and working hard. They hv a cozy cute table downstairs for a drink or the 26th floor which is the top notch to see NY and direct to the Empire State. My only recommendation pls do a deep clean for the carpet in z rooms as we noted stains . I def recommended and will go there again and again

Because the plane was late, I arrived at the hotel at 1 o'clock in the middle of the night. The lady at the front desk helped me to check in very quickly. It was the speed of New York. Hotel location is very good. About 5 minutes walk to Fifth Avenue, turn to Central Park, and the subway station will walk for 5 minutes. The hotel is a post-modern urban minimalist style, the room is good, very New York apartment feel, but the breakfast is a bit too casual, too simple, but the breakfast at the New York hotel is probably so good, it is a very good hotel

Fantastic experience at the Hotel Sherman for my daughter's first trip to NYC. This boutique hotel reminds me of a quaint European boutique hotel or B&B. Our room was very cute, clean and quiet. It's right on Restaurant Row so there are a variety of delicious options just steps away. We recommend choosing take out and enjoying your dinner on the cozy roof top terrace which has a beautiful view above the roar of street level. The staff was friendly, gracious and helpful. We appreciated their willingness to store our luggage before and after check in/check out. The continental breakfast had a good array of options. The croissants in particular melted in your mouth. My daughter is gluten free but had plenty of options with hard boiled eggs, yogurt and fruit. We did pick up some gluten free bread nearby. The rooms also have a mini fridge, coffee maker and microwave which are nice amenities to have. Just steps away from Times Square, the Theater District, the Port Authority and so many midtown sites, I would highly recommend this gem. The only critique I would have is the carpet in the elevator and hallways are a bit worn, but the charm of the rooms and gracious hospitality more than makes up.

We were given a handicapped accessible room. I was sort of okay with it. However, we didn't realize that across the way there would be construction all night long. I didn't sleep well at all. The next morning, I asked the staff if we could please move. I thought for sure they would deny my request. The front desk staff was absolutely AMAZING! Marie, Natasha, Cristal and Robert were the best ever! They kept our luggage safe until another room opened up. It was nice and quiet and I got a great night's sleep! Everytime we went by the front desk staff, they were super friendly. They were very helpful with all of our tourist questions, too. They went out of their way to appreciate us being there! If I ever go back to NYC, I will always stay here! The hotel was SPOTLESS as well as our room. Very comfy bed and roomy shower. The location was fantastic...just a short walk to Times Square. Just up the street was Carmines...Incredible Italian food!!!!

The location of the hotel is very good, walking distance from the Central park, Times Square and Madison Square Garden. The room I stayed in was spacious, clean, and well maintained every day, although signs of aging of the furniture and amenities are visible. The restaurant on the ground floor is open every day, but the rooftop bar, with an amazing view over the city, only from Thursday till Sunday. The hotel is very busy and it is constantly difficult to catch an elevator, while the entrance of the hotel was probably the biggest disappointment. This area is being used as a storage for laundry containers and smoking area, while windows are not being cleaned and overall it is completely neglected... With a small investment, this area can be transformed into an amazing outdoor space that can completely change the impression of the hotel. Big plus is that every morning, free filter coffee is served at the reception for all guests.

Finally a hotel that gets it. I become irritated when looking online at hotels and discover how many have succumbed to the gimmick of “resort fees” or “destination fees” to squeeze a few more dollars out of the traveler. I am not going to use the gym. A big breakfast does not interest me. I have my cell phone for long distance calls. I resent being forced to pay for “privileges” that I will not be using. Civilian makes it all so simple. Do you want to use the gym? Then pay for it. Do you want to have breakfast in the hotel? Then pay for it. It is all so simple! Customize your stay to your own preferences. Having gotten all that off my chest… As a solo traveler, I chose the ”Cozy Queen” which was adequate for me… big bed (very comfortable), big TV (with several OnDemand options), huge window facing the street (making the room bright and giving a sense that it is larger than perhaps it really is), and a larger bathroom than I have typically found in NYC. There is a bar on the second floor with a terrace overlooking the street. Inside is spacious and nicely decorated with miniature stage sets from Broadway shows. Civilian is less than a year old… everything is shiny and new. All the members of the staff whom I encountered were welcoming and pleasant and ready with a smile or greeting. Civilian is top notch!!

We were in New York for six days. The location is great! A metro station is close by (approx. 8 minutes on foot). Restaurants, bars and a Target are right around the corner. Everything is clean and everything you need is there… Towels, soap, shampoo etc. You could even do your laundry there. Great kitchen and a great lounge! We will be back definitely!
