Subway station close by. Door men were really helpful. Big thank you to Jimmy who was really helpful. Concierge was really helpful getting us great tickets to shows. Breakfast was ok. The first thing I will mention is that the hotel is 5 star and is expectedly, very expensive, being in the heart of Times Square. I took this into account when writing my review. If I am paying that much, my expectations would be higher than normal. I stayed for 12 nights over the Christmas and NY period so I obtained a very comprehensive view of the hotel and everything about it. Overall it was a very comfortable stay and the staff were always there to attend to any requests and issues. The moment I got out of my transfer car, there was a lovely young gentleman waiting to get all my bags and transport me upstairs to the reception. The check-in was reasonably flawless but there was a bit of confusion around the payment because of resort fees the hotel charges daily. I prepaid my booking and there was confusion over whether it included or excluded the resort fee. The reception area is immaculately presented and the bar and restaurant are both located here. I intended to use the gym during my stay, but didn't have time to even take a peek. Nor did I visit the bar or restaurant. There's way too many options outside to do that. The very polite and courteous young gentleman then took me up to my room. He showed me everything and away he went. I got a bit of a room upgrade which I highly appreciated and had a beautiful view of Times Square. I was on the 2nd highest floor, floor 39. The room is not big. It was adequate for one person but nothing more. I don't think I would be able to stay here if I was with another person. It would be too uncomfortable and I had to find space for my 2 suitcases and carry-on. The bathroom is open plan, with a door for the shower and toilet. A big problem I had in my room was that if it was windy you will hear a loud whistle coming through the bottom of the front door. It really annoyed me. I had to take the cover off the bed and make a snake shape to block the gap underneath the door to stop the noise. Even a bath towel didn't work. They need to fix this. The hotel is very new and the rooms are very beautifully equipped, presented and maintained. I was pleased to see that most of the things I requested before I arrived (some extra bath mats, bath towels, hand towels, face towels, mini fridge, bathroom scale) were mostly there upon arrival. I quantified the number of towels I needed as I was not getting any housekeeping during my 12 night stay but I did not get the quantity requested. I expected a bit more attention to detail for a 5 star hotel. Before I arrived I was asked if I was celebrating a special occasion and Guest Services pushed up my expectations as I was celebrating a special occassion and they said something nice, I assume maybe a cake or some alcohol would be waiting for me in the room. When I arrived there was nothing. And there was never going to be anything throughout my stay. I didn't mind and only remembered towards the end of the stay. Refinery is first of all a good location. It ’s convenient to go to Broadway to watch a show or to go to midtown. The nearby Bryant Park has my favorite breakfast shop. West 40th Street has good Spanish food. Michelin ’s chef ’s table is the highest in the world at West 39. Street ... you can understand so much. In fact, the room facilities are just like that. In contrast, I prefer their hotel public facilities and bathrooms. Their rooftop is a relatively popular restaurant with nice night views.

The room has a good view and compared to the same price, I personally think it is not up to standard, but it is very comfortable. It is understandable in this area of ​​​​NYC. Amazing hotel in the best area , close to everything . Hotel itself clean , cute cozy. Room is very decent, we see the Empire State from our room , breakfast has hot and cold stuff and to go food if you want for a snack , I loved their coffee. People from reception, breakfast team, housekeeping are decent , helpful and working hard. They hv a cozy cute table downstairs for a drink or the 26th floor which is the top notch to see NY and direct to the Empire State. My only recommendation pls do a deep clean for the carpet in z rooms as we noted stains . I def recommended and will go there again and again

Great location. But the service standards absolutely disappointed. In room telephone was not working and despite repeated complaints it was not repaired through my stay of 4 nights. So basically we had to go down all the way to reception every time we wanted something at the room. From toiletries to food to water. Even the front desk as well as the duty manager simply expressed inability to do anything about it Initially even some of the lights in the room were not working. Clearly one of the worst stays of my life at a big brand hotel All in all a big disappointment

Great location in Midtown, just blocks from the Empire State Building, Macy's, and several dining and breakfast options. Easy walk to subway and even Times Square (20 minutes). Rooms are small, but clean and very comfortable. (We were impressed by how much storage space was available in the room.) Amenities are not fancy (small restaurant with limited options, small gym), but it's an excellent starting point for exploring the city. There was some noise bleed from neighboring rooms, but none from outside.

Because the plane was late, I arrived at the hotel at 1 o'clock in the middle of the night. The lady at the front desk helped me to check in very quickly. It was the speed of New York. Hotel location is very good. About 5 minutes walk to Fifth Avenue, turn to Central Park, and the subway station will walk for 5 minutes. The hotel is a post-modern urban minimalist style, the room is good, very New York apartment feel, but the breakfast is a bit too casual, too simple, but the breakfast at the New York hotel is probably so good, it is a very good hotel

”Hip” and ”boutique” has become a metaphor for dirty and unclean. The ”hotel room” was bare bones, dirty, with previous guests used personal toys left behind end tables. The small kitchen was barely usable - no under cabinet lighting, no dishwasher, small fridge, coffee maker dirty and unclean, same for the broken toaster, no dishwashing soap for even the small amount of utensils and glassware. No effort was made to clean underneath the bed; the bed itself sagged. The room view is into tenement like housing (if I wanted a West Side Story experience, I would go to the theater rather than pay for this cheap ...calling it a hotel is a stretch). The balcony is a joke (at worse a hazard (make sure the balcony door is locked.) The corner space between the top mattress and boxspring was dirty, crumbs, dust, etc - clearly had not been vacuumed or cleaned since the Roosevelt administration. Wi-Fi is subpar. Another effort by a non-corporate hospitality company (or whoever owns this dump) to milk tourists who come to New York by renovating whatever this building used to be into a sub standard ”hotel” rooms and skating by on ”location.”

The best thing about this hotel is the location. It's just steps from the southern part of Times Square. We had a floor-to-ceiling window with a view of the square and ball (it was December) which was awesome. Lots to see and do just steps away. Room and bathroom were small, which I expected for NYC. Everything was clean and housekeeping was friendly. Elevators can be slow, but they need to do something about check-in. It's horrible. Waited an hour in a cramped line with two young boys. Most parents nightmare. They should figure out a system to just text you when your room is ready. Then not everyone needs to come at the same time. There isn't enough room in the lobby. I would visit again but would request early check in or come much later.

First and really important: the location: steps from Times Square, like the CENTER of Times Square, not (like so many do) advertising Times Square but really next to Port Authority. If you're going to a Broadway Show and don't want to fight for a cab in the rain or try to find your Uber in the ocean of Ubers, this is the place. It is a 10 minute, brightly lit, sight-filled walk from every theater (and every great pre-dining restaurant) you could want to be close to. OR if you're dining in Midtown, going to Radio City, Rockefeller Center, shopping on Fifth Avenue? 10 minutes the other way. So the location is perfect for all things midtown east, west, and Times Square. Ideal. Second, this place is NEW and really well-designed, so everything is up to date. The super-thick windows create an unbelievably quiet setting in the middle of everything (and I was on the third floor!) and the doors and walls are solid and safe. The bathroom fixtures are modern and sparkling, great pressure in the shower, the bed and linens are literally among of the best I've ever experienced (and I travel frequently for work). The heat/AC is quiet and easy to use (no indecipherable buttons or weird clanging). The rooms are THOUGHTFULLY structured, with a logical flow from bed to desk to closet to bathroom (and some can be expanded to accommodate families). And the appointments are great - not flashy or overdone, just really nice, understated wood and fabric tones, with lights you can actually figure out how to use! Very easy on the eyes and ears after a stimulating night on the town. Third, you have a wide range of in-house dining options that surprise on the upside. Quick, casual pub food - a great burger or open-faced turkey sandwich in a fun, boisterous setting? Head right downstairs to Connolly's Pub (or upstairs to the incredible roof garden!). Want something a tad nicer and quieter? Maybe a shrimp risotto or fresh carbonara? The intimate and delightful restaurant on the ground floor is wonderful. All basically under the same roof and in each, a wide selection of spirits, wines and (of course) more beers on tap than you can even imagine. And in the morning, you can enjoy a full breakfast, coffee to go, or anything in between. Lastly, and most importantly, the staff of the Merrion Row are warm, welcoming and gracious. This is a small-family-owned hotel literally in the ”middle of the middle” of the highest energy zone in the world, but the team makes you feel like you're coming in from the rain to your own quiet country home. And the family has been managing hospitality in New York City for decades; they know how - and genuinely want - to make customers feel like guests. I live outside the city and frequently stay in town after late dinners or events. Merrion Row is now my go-to place to stay in NYC. Stay there once and it will become yours as well!
