Room 14 was dirty and shabby broken windows dirty shower and carpet offered upgrade or round of drinks Took upgrade but at dinner made to feel uncomfortable by waiter Mike for doing so his attitude was appalling Assistant manager apologised but was very condescending Do your research before booking as we were very disappointed Hopefully Manager is made aware but still left us feeling disheartened as we had visited 3 weeks ago and wanted the same experience Guests should be made aware of rooms that are below par and not charged at full price We have emails from receptionist saying she agreed with us Also as work going on in hotel tiles were stacked in hallway not what they advertise as a nice get away

A senior couple stayed at this lovely hotel for a special occasion in the Ellis Suite. Our welcome at reception was delightful, and the young lady showed us around the publc rooms, before carrying our suitcase to the suite. Family members had evidently been in touch with the hotel, as a beautifully packaged bottle of Champage was on ice in our room, ready for the start of our celebration. We thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon tea in the lounge area which was part of our offer, and the quality of this was delightful. Note to management.......why do you not decant the lovely thick cream into a small 'ramekin' bowl, rather than serve it in its plastic manufacturers container ??....everything else you do is to such a high standard. Our evening meal was part of the package, and not just a financial offer, which was lovely. You could have paid a supplement for one or two more expensive offers, but in general the whole menu was excellent. Wines were good, if slightly on the more expensive side ! A standard Rioja Crianza at £38.00 is rather pushing it ! Breakfast in the morning was 'roughly' time booked, but very flexible, and to a very high standard. Lovely helpful staff, and guests could really order what they wished form the menu supplied. Jugs of quality fruit juices could have been labelled, but the fresh fruit salad was excellent. A very special hotel, with lovely gounds, and we would be delighted to return.

I was not going to write a review but feel that on reflection something has to be said. We wanted to say something at the time but the hotel was full so no chance of a change of room . It was our second visit to the hotel and the first time was on recommendation. We had a really good time and wanted to go back again. The first time we booked for three nights in the superior room number 5 and was very impressed hence the second visit last year. Now the reason for the poor review. The second time was again for three nights and I booked the deluxe room number 24. We arrived on the Friday and in the evening the noise coming from the office next to the reception of people talking loudly went on till about 11pm. Sadly the couple in the room above our room were very loud and this was after 11pm and went on for a long time. This was mention the morning of our second day and was told that nothing could be done. With regards to the rest of the hotel it is very good. The review is really to make people aware that the room, although fitted out very nicely, is not in a good position with regards to the areas around and above it. The superior room 5 was far better than the deluxe room 24. If it was not for the room I would of given a 5 rating. Regards

The hotel is first rate with friendly professional staff. Breakfast and dinner were excellent and the surroundings peaceful, just a few miles from Scarborough. Arriving at reception we received a friendly welcome with a quick tour of public rooms. Two dining rooms together with a comfortable bar and conservatory. With exceptional weather for the start of April late afternoon drinks on the small terrace were an unusual treat.

My husband and I have just had a 3 day break at Wrea Head Hall and like other reviewers before us , had a delightful stay and the weather was very kind to us. The rooms are very comfortable and nothing is too much trouble for the kind and caring staff and the food delicious. We liked it so much we have booked to stay at Xmas.

What a beautiful hotel, surrounded by acres of land. The service from checkin to checkout was faultless. Everyone was friendly and polite offering excellent service. The room was spotless with lovely toiletries in the bathroom which had both a roll top bath and separate shower ( Room 10).we had booked with their spring offer which was excellent value for money. It included a cream tea and dinner, both of which were lovely. It was our first visit but we definitely be back.

We received a lovely welcome. Our room was very pleasant with views of the immaculate grounds. Everywhere was very clean. Dinner service no problems and food tasted good. I would have preferred my main course to be hot rather than luke warm. Breakfast all good. We enjoyed our stay and would return.
