Had a wonderful one night stay at Black Burn Lodge, we wish we could have stayed longer and taken better advantage of the garden including the cabin overlooking the river, perfect for a chilled cup of coffee in the morning whilst watching the birds. Owners were really friendly and helpful. The room was really well appointed with everything you could need, and so clean. Breakfasts are not in the lodge, instead a voucher is given for a cafe in the village, but this was no problem at all. The cafe was close by with lots of choice and the breakfast was delicious. Genuinely, everything was just great. We would definitely stay again if we are ever in the area. The B&B was also convenient for the Kielder observatory.

Perfect weekend away! In a beautiful sleepy village with amazing people. Take a stroll to The Olive for breakfast. By the stream and horses. This was a wild card pick for us and it turned out better than we imagined. One of my favourites ❤️ Micheal and Jayne made us feel very welcome and had excellent suggestions on places to explore and go to eat. I honestly can not rate this place highly enough. Beautiful cosy place in picture perfect countryside. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and the attention to detail made it superb! I’d say it’s even better in person than the pics show. Left something behind and they very kindly posted it out for us. These wonderful people go above and beyond.

A great welcome. We were shown to a lovely, spacious room with a very comfortable bed, and well equipped bathroom. Refreshments tray was nicely stocked and the ambience of the whole place was just what two weary people required to recharge slightly dull batteries. Although the weather wasnt as good as it could have been, the welcome more than made up for the coolness and drizzle outside. The gazebo over the river is amazing at night with the sound of the water falling over the weir. Just lovely. The hosts were perfect and we hope to return very soon.

Just returned from wonderful two night stay at Black burn Lodge and it lives up to the rave reviews. Stunning location by the river, where we spent the evenings in the gazebo enjoying the views and a glass of Baileys . The room was spotlessly clean with high quality bedlinen and furnishings. Also separate lounge if weather not great. The hosts make you feel so welcome and provide a lot of formation about where to eat and visit in the area. Would highly recommend and hope to visit again.

Absolutely outstanding place. While working across the country, I’m normally stuck in a Premier Inn….. so it makes a fantastic change to stay in a beautiful place like this. The most friendly hosts ever, it’s a home from home. Don’t hesitate, just book it.

Welcoming and friendly hosts who had great knowledge of the area. Comfy and clean room with a lovely view. A beautiful inside communal space with a variety of games, books, wood fire and a small fridge. The outdoor seating areas had great views of the garden and river. The location was great for us as it is 25min drive from kielder. The village has a spar shop, couple of cafes, local pub, fuel station and butcher. Breakfast was served at a local cafe, 'The Olive Tree', it was tasty with welcoming, friendly staff. It is a short walk (lovely river walk option) or even shorter drive to the olive tree.

Fantastic hosts. Beautiful room and stunning views. Advice on where to eat for supper was good but slightly underwhelming food. Breakfast was ‘offsite’ but included in the room price. Again slightly underwhelmed. However we would most definitely come back as the room and hosts were brilliant

Weekend away with grandson Ideal location for exploring Scottish border plus our visit to kielder forest observatory. Rooms and lodge finished to a really high standard Separate lounge to our room was an unexpected addition Outside areas lovely on the crisp autumn mornings, will be brilliant in the spring and summer Michael and Jayne both excellent hosts. So much knowledge about the area and willing to share Website does not do the lodge enough justice Will definitely return to the lodge with family and friends at a future date
