Newport Harbor Island Resort

I guess the hotel can’t determine what your neighbor will be like , but we had the most obnoxiously loud neighbor the whole stay. The walls seem to be paper thin, so it was like her screeching voice and blaring tv was in our room. We paid for a more expensive room in the Captain’s Quarters, so this was really disappointing for us. The staff was helpful once we requested help in this matter. The pool staff was outstanding and all the staff was friendly and helpful throughout the stay.

The venue is perfect! It’s very comfortable. The fitness center was open 24/7 and empty in the morning. Everything at the fitness center was easily accessible. The fire pits kept us mesmerized and warm at night with the lovely view of the water.

For the price this hotel was not remotely worth it. Our room backed onto the car park to the extent that we couldn’t open our blinds or people would walk past and see right in. Dark with no view - I would highly recommend that you do NOT book this room. The shower also didn’t function properly, the pool was average at best with poor service and the towels we were given at the pool all had holes in them (we had several different towels across the days). For what this hotel costs, go elsewhere.

For the cost of the hotel, we were pretty disappointed. We expected better service throughout the weekend I had called 3x to confirm that a crib will be in our room upon our arrival as we were going to be there close to our son’s bedtime. I called to confirm on our way to the hotel as well, and they said it was already there. Going to our room, it was not and it took close to an hour to get one, throwing our sons entire bedtime off. Later that evening, I asked front desk for a blanket I could sit outside with. They said they would bring it out, over an hour later and a few follow ups no one showed up. I had also asked someone to turn the fire pit on so I could enjoy sitting outside, and again no one assisted. Overall, it was a pleasant weekend but we were disappointed in the service.

Incredibly clean room, the property is beautiful. Only downside is when there are multiple events like weddings it can get crowded.

We stayed two nights mid week in mid May. Check-in was simple with friendly staff. We chose the valet parking, which was also convenient and cost a few dollars more per day than self parking. The room was clean with a "beach" feel. Comfortable but not spectacular. We splurged and booked a room with a small balcony overlooking the bay, bridge, and lighthouse, which was nice. The wood on the balcony could have used a cleaning or refinishing, and when the AC unit was blowing it was very loud on the balcony. The grounds were nice but there were some areas on the walkway where supplies and stuff were stacked up against the building. There's a neat lighthouse on the end of the island. The architecture of the resort itself is sort of outdated modern. Not much to look at. They have a coffee shop with good coffee and expensive muffins and a 15 dollar breakfast sandwich (which was very good). There's a bar with plentiful outdoor waterfront seating and a nice restaurant. A glass of wine was $16. The resort is on an island walkable to downtown Newport. They also have a free and convenient shuttle to town. Our room bill came to over $1500 for two nights. This included all sorts of resort fees, parking fees, etc. I would have been fine with all the minor shortcomings if this place wasn't so darned expensive. It was nice, but for that kind of money you expect a bit more. If we return to Newport we'll stay at a different hotel for half the price.

It's an absolutely gorgeous property....great outdoor space, beautiful rooms, many with stunning views! Staff was fantastic...we loved our stay! Highly recommend!
