Came across The Newport by chance when visiting the area. It’s under very new management and had the feel of still being in set up stage, but the food was excellent and staff attentive. Menu was mainly small plates and pizza with a couple of specials. Flavours and freshness were excellent. Highly recommend you visit and support this fledgling business. They have rooms and space for functions. Oh, and the view over the Tay is beautiful!

Me and my mum came here for the burns night supper. The food was lovely and service was good. Staff very friendly and attentive and Howard Davies was very funny and making us all laugh. Would definitely go again. We got a starter, main and dessert as well as a dram and drinks, all for £45.

Myself, family and friends used the event space upstairs at The Newport Inn for a joint surprise 30th birthday. It was the most perfect venue….beautiful views through the glass by folding doors and river facing terrace, gorgeous food, and cosy vibes thanks to the lovely log burner. This was an informal gathering and we chose to do a buffet which was fantastic, the nicest buffet I have ever had and so many people commented on just how tasty the food was…..this was no regular buffet and there was plenty of it! Gillian the owner was helpful and relaxed, allowing us to decorate ourselves, (although little decorations were required as it was so beautiful!) provide our own music and even assigned us a couple of waiters to take and fetch our drink orders from the bar downstairs! This was all on an extremely busy Friday (20th Dec). Thank you to Gillian and all her team for making the party such a fab success. Couldn’t recommend enough for your next event!

Spent a great night here. Bar had a friendly vibe and the food in the restaurant was delicious. I stayed in the French room with my dog Mavis. We chatted to lots of people in the bar and drank too many of their Margaritas It’s such a beautiful location, dog are welcome, pizzas are amazing. Great place to stay, have a meal or just a cocktail or 2.. Highly recommend. Thank you every one who made my stay so enjoyable.

Firstly when trying to book a table the phone just rang and rang. We tried a number of times over a period of three quarters of an hour before the phone was answered. What might be helpful is an answerphone message informing potential customers of opening times etc.. When we arrived at the Newport Inn we entered immediately behind the first customers. We were seated. Another 2 tables were filled. Eventually someone came to take our drink order and the soft drinks arrived half an hour after entering the premises. We had to ask someone to take our food order. A couple who came in after us had finished their meal. Another table was on their second bottle of wine. After being there for 50 minutes without any food we decided to leave. They were not busy(4 tables) and 4 restaurant staff. Extremely disappointing. We have enjoyed a good meal there but after today's experience we will not be returning...ever

The Newport has only recently changed hands I believe and it does feel like things are in the early stages with lots still to do. However the welcome we got was outstanding and all staff were delightful and attentive. The food was delicious, fresh and a bit different to the usual offerings in Fife. The pizza was freshly made and so good, homemade soup and mezze were really tasty too. Highly recommended and will definitely return soon.

Had an AMAZING 3 course lunch here. The beef tartare was fab, ‘celebration of the sea’ for main was superb - crab meat, cod and plaice then a great dessert. The snacks really set the tone for an excellent lunch ahead with wonderful scenery. We love our Michelin rated restaurants and I would say this was one of the best we have been to recently - would really recommend.

Slightly disappointed, booked for a birthday celebration. Food course was very small, plates felt like they were going to falll off the Tiny cut out wooden table . Wine was never poured . Everything was cold .sweet with strawberries was one strawberry only , cut into 8! Pieces . Slightly pathetic. Felt completely ripped off and very disappointed.

For ages I have wanted to book into The Newport Restaurant for dinner, bed and breakfast as I have heard how great it is. Parked right outside restaurant - fab. Didn't catch the girl in the bars name but she was very friendly and helpful and showed me to my beautiful room. A couple of members of staff even asked to carry my bags. Am in the French room so I suppose it will be my boudoir for the evening. The room is actually stunning and very spacious with a nice little welcome tray of refreshments. Everything is high quality and immaculate. Ensuite and twin shower spacious with delicious Scottish toiletries. The bath SHEET, not towel is actually large enough to dry you. A nice personal welcome note was the icing on the cake. Off for a walk to work up an appetite for dinner. A complementary glass of fizz awaited my arrival followed by the best ever dining experience. I went all out and had the 8 course dining menu with wine flight. EVERY morsel was delicious. Well beyond my expectations. It amazes me how what must be super talented chefs get so much flavour into the food and make it look so beautiful. Each of the staff were very knowledge about the food and drink and always checking everything was fine. I absolutely could not have asked for more and nothing was too much bother. They even checked if I needed anything for the room. And so to sleep. Bed was as comfy as you like and I had a great night's sleep. I could have stayed there forever but I knew there was breakfast waiting for me. Quick shower with lovely hot water then off for breakfast. Yet another fantastic dining experience. Each course was delightful and measured just right to start you on your day and I can honestly say you have never eaten a croissant until you have had one at The Newport Restaurant. I struck up a conversation with two ladies and they were raving about how beautiful and spacious their room was also and how delicious the food was. I didn't want to leave. Off to The Newport Bakery for some cakes to take home. Thank you Lauren who made me a lovely coffee and I was able to sit outside the restaurant to drink it looking at the stunning views over the River Tay and delight all this was on my doorstep. I need to add a statement here that I don't see much in reviews. I spoke with several members of staff and they all loved working there. They were well looked after by the Scott's and were treated almost as part of the family rather than work colleagues. How wonderful is that and who can honestly say that about their workplace. So well done Jamie and Kelly Scott. You've done it both professionally and in your caring attitude to your staff. I can't wait to return.
