Barrowfield Hotel

Firstly they took around 20+ minutes to check as in after our 6 hours long journey. The room was very basic according to its price. There was no lock on bathroom door, the window stalling mechanism was broken, no soap or shampoo was left in the washroom, we had to go to reception to collect them. The bathroom had weird smell. The shower was terrible, felt like water doesn’t want to fall. It was very slow and was almost unusable. The only good thing about our stay was the location of the hotel and their willingness to keep our luggage for few hours. We did want to use the swimming pool after our checkout but they didn’t allow us, may be it was their policy or something. Overall our stay wasn’t up to the mark and service wasn’t up to the mark as well. I didn’t find them polite enough. Please note no wifi in room as well and the room the super hot in day time. Overall I wouldn’t recommend anyone to pay such amount for this room.

The hotel was lovely Added bonus with heated pool A few hiccups with staffing and chef walking out But the remaining staff worked really hard to make sure we had a good breakfast I had a concern with a member of staff not being kind to my autistic daughter Refusing to provide gash browns which she had ordered off the menu. all other Daisha hotels provided this on previous holidays But this was sorted out by office staff Overall loved the shirt break and would go back again

Very smooth coach journeys each way. Clean comfy room, needed the supplied fan as very warm. Nice public areas. Nice position near top of cliffs, short walk to see wonderful views over beaches and sea. Good food and plenty of it, short staffed on one occasion but they managed ok. No trips as only 20 Daish customers there (us from Sussex). Very handy bus stops and had a good journey on a bus to Perranporth. Newquay town is very busy in the holidays and a bit run down, the beaches are amazing and you can hire sun loungers and umbrellas on the nearest one (£30 a day though!) which is private. There are several steps to get down to the beaches, not recommended for less mobile persons.

I went to this hotel with Glenton on a 9 day holiday with my sister. On arrival we were allocated our room which had 3 single beds in it and when we went into the room we noticed that there were dark marks on the carpet, some of them were sticky (see photo). There was a balcony but we were not allowed to use it as birds could be nesting! (We could not see any nests anywhere.) But it did have large cracks on the bottom of it. We had a shower ensuite but when we used the shower the water didn't go away for a while and during the holiday we put up with this until there was scum coming up through the drain. I complained about this and it was fixed that day. We asked for an extra toilet roll and was given this but it was never put in the dispenser (you need a key to put the toilet roll into the dispenser) and it sat on top of the cistern for the whole holiday (see photo). We also had to ask for more hand soap for the dispenser as this had run out too! We had a large fan in the room which was on for most of the holiday as we were there in the June heatwave. There was the customary kettle with tea, coffee, sugar and milk on a tray. Also a small hairdryer if you needed it. There didn't seem to be a hoover used as when walking along the halls and up the stairs there was dirt that didn't disappear for the whole duration of our holiday. In the dining room you get a sheet with the menu for the following meal on your table which you need to fill in along with your table number and the menus for dinner are on a four day rotation which are on the wall as you go into the dining room. On the Sunday morning after arriving we were asked what we wanted to eat/drink which was apple or orange juice or a cereal? You have one only, you can't have juice and cereal (although some people did have juice and cereal) then we were asked what we wanted for a cooked breakfast. After giving the waitress our orders we waited 55 minutes for the cooked food to arrive! My sister had to ask for extra sugar at EVERY meal as they didn't replenish the sugar or salt at the tables between meals. Some of the meals were not nice and on leaving the dining room a number of times I saw plates of food that was hardly touched. The fish and chips with mushy peas was tasteless and seemed to be the cheapest frozen fish and chips that you can buy. The only meal that I enjoyed was the lasagna with salad. The entertainment at night was good as you get a quiz to do (if you want to) and two games of bingo at different times and then singers. A pint of draught Pepsi Max was £3.80 which I thought was a little steep. There were air conditioning units in the dining room and where the entertainment was but they either didn't work or were never switched on as we were there in the June heatwave and it was very warm. There were large cracks on the outside walls and some balconies did look very dangerous to stand on as the rails were coming away from the bottom of the balconies. This hotel needs a lot of money

We stayed at the Barrowfield Hotel from May 23rd to May 27th as part of a coach holiday, and we had such a wonderful time from start to finish. The whole experience was relaxing, enjoyable and made even better by the fantastic staff throughout the hotel. From the moment we arrived, everyone was friendly, welcoming and always happy to help with anything we needed. Our room was lovely, comfortable and very well maintained during our stay. A huge thank you to our housekeeper Jessie, who did an amazing job every single day keeping the room spotless, tidy and fresh. It was always so nice coming back after a day out in Newquay to find everything beautifully cleaned and organised. Her hard work and attention to detail really did make our stay extra comfortable. The restaurant staff were also excellent, especially Jenna, who was absolutely brilliant throughout our stay. She was always cheerful, attentive and professional, and nothing was ever too much trouble. She made every meal feel welcoming and enjoyable, and her lovely personality really stood out. All of the staff worked incredibly hard and always had smiles on their faces, creating such a warm and friendly atmosphere throughout the hotel. The food was another highlight of the holiday. Breakfast each morning was excellent with plenty of choice and everything cooked really well. The three-course evening meals were delicious every night, with good portions, lots of variety and meals we genuinely looked forward to each evening. Compliments to the chefs and restaurant team for making dining such a lovely experience. Overall, we had a fantastic coach holiday and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The combination of the lovely hotel, excellent food, comfortable room and truly wonderful staff made for a memorable few days away. A special thank you again to Jessie and Jenna for helping make our holiday so special. We would definitely return and would happily recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Newquay.

Went to barrowfield hotel .was not impressed at all . Good was . Warm. The portion s were small. Tea coffee was always warm .fried bread was like eating rubber. The. Beds were not made properly . The bath panel was broken. The chair in our. Bedroom was filthy The whole place. Needs re furnishing Won't be going there again.

I’ve just returned from a lovely 5-day stay at Barrowfield Hotel, and it was a truly enjoyable experience. What really made the holiday special was the incredibly friendly and welcoming staff—their positive attitude genuinely made a difference throughout our stay. The hotel is in a great location near the beach, and I loved that the area itself has such a long history—Newquay’s roots as a fishing village and the ancient “Barrowfields” nearby give it a bit of extra character without taking away from that classic seaside holiday feel. A special thank you to Julie and Jack in the bar, who worked tirelessly and always with a smile. Their hard work and great service didn’t go unnoticed and added so much to the atmosphere. Would happily return!

We enjoyed our stay here. The staff were lovely. The waitresses Vickie and Dolly were so friendly and helpful sorting out our breakfast and tea despite how busy it was. Thank you so much.

Hotel was very poor standard didn't look as if it had been cleaned for a while dust everywhere you looked even on stairwell going to your room some rooms had balconies but we're unable to use due to them being in a bad state of repair some with large holes and just about to fall down dining experience was a long wait for food that was very poor quality and cold had to get maintenance into room to repair carpet coming out toilet as it was alltorn and tripped 3 times on it.would not recommend .Didn't expect 5 star but to have a warm meal and clean room and environment would have been nice
