Travelodge Newquay Seafront

Checked in fine, reception was attended which was nice to see, but needed a clean. Given key to room and lift was working , ideal. NEGATIVES: where to beginning - Room 101 - road/street side - noise was horrendous from hearing people talking as walking past to traffic noise even until early hours - police station close by and sirens going several time throughout the night... it appears the windows are NOT insulated from noise. Window seal appears broken... Noise from inside the hotel is just as bad if not worst. Being so close to the door that connects everyone to their rooms - there is a lot of people causing noise coming from hallway with doors opening and closing (which is constant) but someone hoovering in hallway by lift at 05:00 is not acceptable on any account... Mattress - threadbare and can feel every spring in it... no good night guarantee here Heating appears to be time controlled - went off at 10pm and didn't come on however was programmed for 7am. Tried boosting and didn't work... Facilities in room - flatscreen (if you wanna call it that) max 24” screen requires some updating... Glaring light from Travelodge sign shines through curtain to top it all off... Resulting in me sleeping a max of 2.5hrs if I was lucky...which didn't need after a 7hr drive. I know I sound like a right Karen, but rarely complain and you get what you pay for... but this isn't up to Travelodge standards... and I have stayed here before and don't recall the noise being that bad but was at the back overlooking car park. Positives Car Parking (Asda) - it's out of season so no issues there - £10 for 12hrs - bit steep even for Newquay. Spoke to reception - Patrijia - who insisted the mattresses were replaced a couple of months ago & with a gentle push back moved my room for the 2nd night to being back of the hotel away from the main road. Room is spacious, clean, good consistent pressure of hot water in shower... Tea making facilities a nice little touch (considering cafe/restaurant onsite)

A lovely hotel. Food good, decor internally excellent., staff friendly and courteous. I stayed in a single room and from past experience when often the room is little more than a broom cupboard I was more than happy. Will come again……with my dog. Sorry about your toaster!!!!
OYO Godolphin Arms Hotel

We stayed in Newquay last week and visited the Godolphin on a number of occasions for food and drink. The bar staff and locals were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. The food was tasty and along with the drinks, good value for money. When we asked for a Sri Lankan curry that had been on the specials board the night before and had smelt really good, “Badger” the chef happened to overhear us and went and made it especially for us even though it was his night off. It certainly didn’t disappoint and was one of the best curries I’ve ever had, far better than many of the Indian restaurants I’ve eaten in. Can’t speak for the accommodation as we didn’t stay there, but a good place to eat and drink.
Legacy Hotel Victoria

This hotel is bang in the centre of Newquay, the zoo and park is only a 10-15 minute walk away. and the town just a few minutes out of the front door. A very useful Tesco express is across the road from the hotel-for your morning Costa before the buffet opens. When you walk into this hotel, you can just see how grand it is, the foyer and reception areas are particularly impressive. The reception, housekeeping and breakfast/waiting staff that we met were all friendly and happy to help. The breakfast itself was adequate, there was a good selection-everything that I expected to see. We were upgraded to a seaview room, which was a lovely surprise and the view was fantastic. Unfortunately this is where the good points end.....now for the bad points; Parking-this is not mentioned in the write up for the hotel, but this is not guaranteed at this hotel (even after you have paid the £5 fee for all the days you are staying there) and the hotel carpark is not just for guests. We weren't told about the 'overflow' carpark until we complained that we had nowhere to park, and to be honest, its not the best situation-the overflow carpark is behind the nightclub attached to the hotel, not lit at night. The other thing to mention about the parking is that it was quite frustrating to see (as we were struggling to find a space as a paying guest) that the staff seem to have priority in the spaces at the front of the hotel and workmen's vans were parked around the back-leaving very few for their guests. The lift! This DOES NOT WORK-we were told it was only available to take luggage (and cleaning carts)-this IS a problem...and not one that they seem to be addressing (reviews from many months ago have also mentioned this problem). We were on the 3rd floor and there are many many stairs to climb to get there-I'm not unfit, but this was quite a pain for me...We passed disabled people having to climb the same amount of stairs too, I do wonder if they were informed of the lift being broken before they checked in-I'm guessing not. The bathroon-I'm not a snob, and not particularly picky-but what I don't like is grot! The bathroom in our room was just grot, I'm afraid to say-so much so that I tried to avoid having a shower in there-I attempted to take my shower stuff down to the pool changing rooms to get a nicer shower (more on that in a moment)-the grout is filthy, the soap dish is just pure rust-I mean how would that not have been flagged and replaced.... The pool area-well...when I said grot for the bathroom in the room-the pool area and changing rooms were on another level of grot and filth....uuurgh, just uuurgh is all I can really say about it... The 'jacuzzi', a little bit like the lift, is STILL not working, same goes for the sauna....These are things that should be updated on the website in my opinion-it has been that long since there were operational that I don't think the hotel can really advertise these 'features' anymore. My other gripe is that there is NO recy

This is just an update. I have booked in here for July with National. The hotel is currently closed for a refit so it should be much improved when it reopens at the end of June. Will let you know on our return :)
