Although I thought that I had done my research well, we were disappointed from the moment we arrived. The room that I had booked turned out to not be en-suit and the bathroom was shared with another room,(occupied by a relative of the owner), and next door to the kitchen. We had booked this room for the views. 'Free parking' was actually on the road outside, not on the property. The owner offered us an 'up-grade' which was a smaller, gloomy room with no view, the window covered by a grubby net curtain. The bathroom had a blocked, painted glass door at one end with nowhere to place anything. Odds and ends of unsuitable furniture and bric-a-brac left little space, even for our wash bags. The one window looked onto the back yard and was not private at all. We felt very unsecure when using the bathroom. The bath was freestanding but against an untiled wall with water from the shower running down onto the floor. The chest of drawers in the corner could not be opened easily as the drawers were all stuck solid. The bedroom storage consisted of a small oak wardrobe that could not be opened fully and was too narrow to put up any clothes on hangers. The only seating was one hard oak elbow chair which blocked the wardrobe. All in all a very uncomfortable room. The paintwork throughout was was chipped and stained, the whole felt uncared for. Even worse was the door into the room which was also painted glass panels that let in the light at night time, the gaps under the door were also quite big. There was little privacy. Finally our room was only a few yards from the main road which proved to be extremely busy from 6.am until after midnight. Without any double glazing we had to purchase ear plugs in order to get some sleep.
