The traditional tatami room truly impressed us, but the highlight of our stay was the open-air private sulphur onsen in our room. It was incredibly therapeutic, and I absolutely loved the natural sulphur scent that filled the space—it made the experience feel authentic and deeply relaxing. A heartfelt shoutout to the staff for their exceptional hospitality. From the warm welcome upon arrival to assisting with our luggage and thoughtfully preparing our beds, every detail was handled with care. They were genuinely kind and attentive throughout our stay. Although the hotel is quite old, we appreciated it as part of its vintage charm. It feels like a place rich with history and stories, which adds a unique character you don’t often find in modern hotels. The 7-course kaiseki dinner completely blew us away. From the exquisite plating to the impeccable service, every dish reflected the chef’s dedication and craftsmanship. Even breakfast exceeded our expectations. While described as a buffet, the beautifully presented bento-style offerings along with the comforting soup-based dishes were both satisfying and delicious. Yes, the price is on the higher side, but it is absolutely worth every penny we spent.

This was my second time visiting Jigokudani, and I chose this hotel because the dinner reviews looked good. The room was quite spacious, and the smell of sulfur was pervasive, which I actually liked! The baths were excellent, all sulfur springs, and it was great that they provided towels. You can also use the baths at the neighboring hotel, Ayatei. Dinner was indeed good, with ingredients and cooking methods both above average. Breakfast was also decent; in addition to Japanese breakfast, there was a Western selection, which offered more flexibility. It's very close to the onsen town, so it's convenient for exploring Jigokudani or visiting convenience stores. I experienced an earthquake right before check-out!

We loved our room, decided to splurge as it is our first wedding anniversary and we booked the room with in room onsen. But honestly with the price we paid it was a little disappointing as the Onsen was not really fantastic or anything to wow about. What we loved was the scenery, the room space & the dinner provided. Breakfast was also sumptuous with many choices! Noboribetsu was really a slow and sleepy town with minimal things but a good escape from our usual busy and stressful life. If we went as a family the price would definitely be more worth while but as a couple it was on the pricier side. We would return in the future if there’s a chance to for sure!

Blown away by thiis beautiful hotel. It is conveniently located to the shopping district and also not that far away from Jigokudani, and u an walk or drive. We opted for dinner and breakfast. Dinner was in a private room and the courses were actually decently filling! Not sure why some people are saying the food is little. The private hotspring in the room was good for a soak and that complimentary beer helps to cool things off. All in all, a delightful stay.

The environment, views, and food were all incredible, absolutely fantastic! We chose a Japanese-style room with a private onsen, which was amazing. I had no desire to use the public baths at all; I went three times a day! Dinner: Seasonal Japanese kaiseki cuisine served with a stunning snowy view. This is undoubtedly the best exclusive choice.

This is our second time staying at this hotel. The main reason is that their private hot springs offer great value for money. While the hotel facilities are quite old, they are very well maintained. It's nestled against a mountain, and even in winter, we noticed a few small insects flying around. The food has improved significantly since our last visit two years ago, especially the kids' meals. The hotel also provides a shuttle service to Sapporo that you can book, and staff are available to help you arrange the free shuttle to the bear farm.

The hotel facilities are quite basic. When I checked in, the front desk staff's English wasn't very fluent, which made communication a bit challenging. However, the hot springs and dining were pretty good! Overall, if you're looking for great value for money, you might be disappointed. But if you want to comfortably enjoy a one-night stay with two meals included, I would still recommend it.

Tried this hotel as the first stop of pur Hokkaido trip, all in all a very good experience. We get to experience tatami room, Japanese fine dining cuisine, and private onsen to top. The location might be a bit isolated and may required a vehicle for better mobility.
