"The Hotel In Excelsis is located just outside the town of Novalja, but we really liked it because the coast is a 5-minute walk away and there's plenty of parking. The rooms and pool area are first-class! The spa is incredibly enjoyable, and there are unlimited towels. The breakfast could be more varied, but it's adequate. Unfortunately, we had an insect problem; we had already swatted four mosquitoes and two moths, and then we found a trail of ants between the bed and the balcony door. After complaining at reception, we were able to change rooms at 1 a.m. The staff and service are very friendly."

"Super nice, modern hotel. Exceptional service. The staff bent over backwards to give us great service. This is a small hotel and the hotel manager, Adnan, made us feel like family. The hotel restaurant food is really good with great Croatian wines. Adnan also recommended some great restaurants and book them for us. I was playing a DJ gig at Zrce Beach so we wanted to stay somewhere nice and quiet."

"The staff were absolutely vile , rude and shouted at us multiple times through out our stay. There was no cleaners for the full week meaning we got no clean towels, bedding ect. There was smashed glass on the balcony's , meaning 3/5 of us got glass wedged into our feet. Stuff left on our balcony would get thrown in the bin by staff."

"We stayed at this location drawn by the beautiful beach and clean sea, which were indeed enchanting. The nature is truly stunning and offers a sense of complete relaxation. However, our experience was significantly marred by numerous service and accommodation issues. Unfortunately, the staff was inefficient and disinterested, which added to our disappointment. Additionally, there was a pervasive smell of sewage throughout the accommodation, both inside the cabin and in the outdoor area around the pool and terrace, especially in the evenings. This greatly diminished our enjoyment of the stay. Although there are house rules for guests, it seems the same rules do not apply to the staff. Throughout the entire day, even on weekends, we were subjected to constant noise from excavators, grinders, and hammering, which was entirely unacceptable for a holiday resort. We attempted to extend our stay for just two hours past the 10 AM checkout time, but were refused with the explanation that housekeeping needed to clean. Instead, we were offered the option to pay for an additional night's stay in the same cabin."

"Liberty Plaza Hotel in Novalja offers a fantastic off-season accommodation deal. The prices are low, the service is good, and the breakfast and dinner are delicious. The rooms are tidy, and we were especially pleased with the daily housekeeping service. The cleaners do an excellent job. Our room had a lovely terrace with a sea view. One odd thing was the partially transparent glass that separates the bathroom from the bedroom, which was a bit unusual."

"Wouldn’t recommend. £300 a night and no WiFi. Complained twice and told it will be sorted and never was. Waited 30 mins to be checked in as there’s only 1 receptionist for the whole hotel. Breakfast is awful- foods cold and been sat for hours- better breakfast at a Premier Inn. Shower also flooded and due to the design it meant the whole bathroom was a swimming pool. Location and pools are nice however overall do not stay here very overpriced and when trying to complain I was ignored."
