The Crown
"My husband and I stayed for 2 nights. Initially couldn’t get in and had to call to be let in however we were met by a warm and lovely lady. She showed us to our room which was lovely, modern decor throughout the hotel. Everywhere was really clean, staff were consistently warm and friendly. Lots of choice of drinks in the room and lovely big towels in our bathroom. We ate in the restaurant downstairs on the first night, I was tempted by the pizza and my husband by the burger. When we came down we were told they were only serving pizzas (no reason given) so we placed our orders. 10 minutes later the waiter came and said the pizza oven was broken, gave a large list of things which weren’t available and so we went for the veggie burgers with extra blue cheese. When they arrived there was no blue cheese on them and the menu said 2 patties and were only got 1, we asked for ketchup and were told they have no ketchup? There’s a coop around the corner and the pub wasn’t busy so I’m unclear why. Food was average to be honest. We came down for breakfast the next morning and were greeted by the lovely Darcy, nothing was too much trouble, we had a veggie full English and it was lovely. Breakfast on the 2nd morning was slightly different, we came down and were met by a lovely cleaning lady who looked surprised we were there. She rang someone and the lovely lady from check in arrived. She cooked what my husband has described as the best scrambled egg he’s ever eaten. Overall we enjoyed our stay, the food offer seems a bit hit and miss which is a shame but we would definitely come back."
The Old Pheasant Hotel
Hambleton Hall
"There are lots of positives about this hotel; location, setting, service, facilities, comfort to name a few. BUT, it’s not a cheap place (in fact it’s expensive) so I would have at least expected tea and coffee to be available in the room. It seems such a stingy thing to omit. We weren’t blown away by bathroom either and I could imagine the shower would have been difficult to access if anyone had mobility issues. Overall very lovely but, for me, a couple of small improvements would have justified the expense."
Wisteria Hotel
"The hotel is located in a small town, very quiet. You can walk to the supermarket for shopping. The shops along the street close early. It is a good place for vacation and leisure. The air is very fresh."
Greetham Valley
"We stayed in a lodge. Whilst they are spacious, it is not in a quiet location as you can hear traffic from the A1 24 hours a day, which at night time when trying to sleep is troublesome. Equally, if raining hard, it is not suitably soundproofed. They are basically equipped. Beds are comfy. Clean ish, some cobwebs."
