my family and I haven’t upon this wonderful restaurant as we were exploring the beautiful city of Oaxaca. It is a perfect place for a family to have a relaxed lunch. It is priced very reasonably, and the food is excellent. Perhaps the highlight though was the wonderful service we had from Rafael.. I highly recommend this as a relaxing and beautiful place to eat.

Tucked just off the busy Andador, La Catrina de Alcalá is one of those classic Oaxaca finds—a peaceful interior patio with excellent service and food to match. Step through the low-key entrance and you’ll discover a warm, elegant courtyard where you're genuinely welcomed, even if you don’t speak Spanish. The menu is available in English, and the staff—especially Rafael, who was friendly, attentive, and professional—go out of their way to understand and serve you. I had a fresh melon agua fresca and their superb sopa de frijol (bean soup), topped with avocado and served with warm rolls and a flavorful salsa picante. Everything was fresh, well-prepared, and satisfying. Prices are reasonable, the setting is calm and beautiful, and the experience feels both refined and relaxed. A perfect stop for coffee and breakfast, lunch or a quiet dinner after a day exploring the city. Highly recommended.

Angelo and Rafael were so kind, gave great service and the breakfast was delicious. It’s been hard to find “American” style breakfasts but this was perfect.

We went to restaurant for breakfast. We must say we had a really nice experience. The help was amazing. The waiter called Rafael hot just an amazing attitude and he was very very attentive. We had great food with a very traditional menu excellent flavors and above all. Really nice time the place was in the city center near El zocalo so that was a great. Plus

Clean room. Friendly staff. Rafael was excellent serving our food! Rocio was very helpful! Food was excellent. Tortillas were sooo good. Coffee was excellent. Nopales con huevo en salsa roja were very tasty! Bread was very good. Green juice was amazing!

I highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in Oaxaca. The location is perfect for walking just about anywhere in the old part of the city. The rooms are very large and each has it's own A/C. Filtered water is provided. Outdoor is locked for safety but always someone there to open the door. Breakfast was fresh fruit, pastry and fresh juice. Overall, a great place to say.

Our server at our restaurant was extremely friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend Lacatrina De Alcala restaurant and the hotel for your stay in Oaxaca. This will be a future place to stay. The rooms were clean, the AC worked great and the location was central for walking.
