Barcaldine Castle

Had a wonderful 1 night stay here as a gift. Fabulous hosts and service, Patrick really personalised our trip and a private tour at the start of our stay was great. Great comfortable room and bathroom, both were very clean with no noise heard from others staying at the same time as us. Really nice atmosphere in the evening with drinks by the fire in the great hall. Lovely breakfast in the morning. Was so sad to leave after our stay!

Had all the feel of a real castle. And your room is in the castle turrets. So many 'castle' hotels are a con in that the castle houses the reception desk, restaurant and bar but the rooms are mostly in a separate modern annexe. Not good if you have any mobility issues as you have to climb a spiral staircase (there are of course no lifts!). There is a limited (and we felt way overpriced) cold platter option for dinner and so best assume that you eat out. Now fine if you have a car but some visitors may have arrived by train to Oban and got a taxi from there and so you may be using a lot of taxis. Great breakfast and there is a bar area in the evening. Each room will be different and so take some time to choose your room.

On Saturday the 11th, my husband and I tied the knot with 35 of our closest friends and family in the cosy great hall. I cannot put into words how fantastic our experience was. From the very first e-mail exchange back in January, Patrick and Caroline have made us feel so special and looked after. They treated us like royalty through-out our stay, welcomed all of our guests with open arms and pulled all the necessary strings to make sure our wedding ran flawlessly while we kicked back and relaxed. I can't fault anything. Food was amazing, rooms were gorgeous and always spotless, service was out of this world. Highly HIGHLY recommended Barcaldine castle to anyone who wants a cosy wedding, or even just a cosy getaway. We hope to make a tradition of coming back for our anniversaries. We just completed a 25-day trip across Scotland. The trip was amazing, we enjoyed staying at some beautiful places and had many great hosts. We both agree that our stay at Barcaldine Castle was on the top of our list! The room was spacious, comfortable and well appointed. The castle was fabulous and the history intriguing everything you could want in a romantic stay.  But what really brought it all together were the hosts Patrick and Cecilia they were the perfect hosts. Whether they were sharing the history of the castle, serving breakfast, providing an evening cocktail or just chatting with guests their enthusiasm was contagious! If you're in Scotland and planning to visit Oban are this is the place to stay.

Simply outstanding. The castle is a stunning, unique building and has been adorned with artwork, furniture and features to create a truly wonderful experience. On top of that, it is located in an awe-inspiring landscape with good accessibility to the western highlands. The castle managers, Patrick and Cecilia, merit special mention - they are genuinely warm and friendly and made our stay one which we will remember for a long, long time. In short, perfection!

WOW is all I can say , from the moment you drive up white glove service.. six rooms total and so authentic... had the most lovely 2 cays feeling Royal..
