Maybe the best hotel in Oberammergau? It was my first stay at this hotel, since my normal hotel was occupied. Now I have found a new favorite place to stay. EXCELLENT rooms. Great location. Nice breakfast. Very beautiful decor in the room and hallway. Very clean. Nice staff. Great bathroom with a bathtub (and a shower). Great balcony (although there should be a complete closure between the balconies. I think it was only on my floor that it was a problem. There was only a half wall. It should be fixed.) Strangely enough for a hotel of this high standard, there no coffee-maker in the room. If I had known, I would have brought my own. I missed my coffee in my room in the morning and the evening. But that aside: I loved my stay at Maximilien and will return. (I didn't use the evening restaurant this time, but have before, just as a dinner guest - and it is also very nice).

Hotel Maximilian was quite enchanting. The location is ideal since it sits in the heart of the village. The decor was unique and tastefully done. The room was incredibly comfortable and clean. The staff was pleasant and attentive. Notably, the breakfast was exceptional.

I made a reservation of a room for two nights over the phone. When I arrived to the hotel I realized it looked by far worse than on the pictures. The location of the hotel is also far from being a pleasant one as the hotel is surrounded by two streets from both sides making it not a pleasant to stay. When I arrived to the property to check in I asked at the reception if I can just stay overnight and I will not stay for the other night. From the very first moment a very young lady at the reception, whom I communicated with, behaved in an extremely rude manner. Later it turned out that the lady at the reception was a daughter of the hotel owner so she behaved in a manner like she was allowed to act in bad way stating “I am the owner of the hotel, I will behave whatever I think is good for me. And you are nobody here, you just came here and we own the hotel”. When I insisted that any hotel guest should not be treated that way and she should rather be more polite as she is working in a service industry, she exploded with aggression. I insisted that I would rather speak with the manager of the hotel from this moment. Later “the manager” came. It turned to be her farther, most likely the owner of the hotel. Acted in a very similar manner like her. He didn’t bother himself to show any polite behavior from the very first words and acted in a very rude manner as well. It looks like this is a family style of doing business in a hospitality sector. As a short recommendation - avoid this hotel at all costs. The number one rule for any hotel is make their guests feel comfortable. In this hotel the owner does the opposite. You just feel extremely uncomfortable once you speak to them. After having left, I successfully checked in to another hotel, which was Schillingshof Hotel, located just 15 minutes drive. A very pleasant stay from the first moment I entered the door of Schillingshof Hotel. People at the reception are extremely friendly and make you feel very comfortable as opposed to Maximilian Hotel. In addition Schillingshof Hotel is by far of a better quality, is located in a very nice area, and in general makes a better impression from the first moment.

Having had a terrible experience a few years ago at the Alte Post hotel here( NEVER go there!!!), we found the Maximilian. Right next to the gorgeous baroque church, with a terrace for dining, gated parking next door, and very friendly staff, we had a deluxe room( I think, 207),on the front, with large balcony/chairs. The room was very comfortable, though the pillows were not. There was an issue with the bath water, which dripped at a snails pace. Shower was great. Easy walking all over the village from here. For a very reasonable price in this famous and so-quaint village, I strongly endorse the Maximilian in every way.

This hotel was great. Starting with the staff at reception. She couldn't have been nicer. In fact everyone I came in contact there was firndly and always smiling. My room was large. Deluxe double. Very German in style. I had dinner all three nights in the hotel as the food was wonderful. The place was lively and Nancy, my server, was so nice. Buffet breakfast was very good. Scrambled eggs, meats & cheeses, breads of all kinds.

If you want to treat yourself to an absolutely fabulous romantic getaway with your partner look no further. I’ve stayed at several different hotels in Oberammergau and this is truly the best one that includes outstanding service, accommodations, food and tons of things to do in the area. At the end of the day take advantage of the free access to the spa. The spa with its three different types of saunas, and brand new hot tub is available until 10:00 pm. If you are on NATO business don’t forget to ask for the special rate (~190 Euros per night).

I have been to this restaurant several times in the past few years. Tonight I am enjoying a double BELVEDERE VODKA AND TONIC WITH MY ROASTED PORK KNUCKLE AND SIDES. The pork is nicely prepared and easily cut but not really off the bone. Yes it is crusted and has chopped chives on top as a garnish!

A short visit to Oberammergau while touring and visiting Ludwigs Castles. The town is delightful and the Passion Play Theatre is a must see. The hotel is very well located for the small town. It is very pretty and Bavarian but is not cheap. Food is typically local. The beer brewed on site is delicious. Our room was rather noisy not helped by a false fire alarm. There were a number of small defects in the bathroom ( hot tap was cold and vice versa) and light missing over the bath. Overpriced for what it was.

This is a lovely hotel in the Bavarian Alps which we stayed at this summer to see the Passion Play. Sara, the young lady who checked us in was so sweet and helpful. The older lady who took over from her was rather a grumpy soul. If I had met her first I would not have felt so welcome. The hotel is charming, flower boxes on terraces, very clean and inviting atmosphere. Staff other than the grumpy older lady were friendly and helpful. She might have been having a bad day but that's no excuse for sourness when working in that industry. Our room a Double room Deluxe was very spacious with a nice balcony overlooking the mountains. Very convenient hotel for the Passion Play just a short walk with a picturesque pathway down to the theater. Breakfast was good with lots of healthy choices. Would recommend this hotel especially for its lovely Bavarian style.
