The George Inn ★★★
Lewtrenchard Manor ★★★
"Had a birthday lunch here to celebrate. Such a beautiful place with a friendly vibe. Staff extremely friendly and knowledgable about the building's story. The garden is really looking lovely. The food was lovely with a really good choice and the drinks menu was great. I recommend the non-alcoholic G & T which was perfect for the baking hot day. A very elegant place but not pretentious."
The Fountain Inn ★★★
"A warm welcome from all the staff. Really looked after us during our motorcycle tour of the south west. The food is top notch and the menu varied and a good selection for vegetarians. The room was just big enough for the two of us and very clean. Recommend."
Blue Lion Inn ★★★
"Highly recommended, hosts so friendly and welcoming , as were the locals , lovely little pub and accomodation, will defo stay again.. As for the food, wow, so many choices and great specials , went for the steak which was superb.. Superb Hospitality, many fine ales and food, what’s not to love"
Travelodge Okehampton Sourton Cross ★★★
"2 night stay. A spacious clean room. A comfortable bed. A reasonable price. Helpful and friendly staff. All good 😊!"
Bearslake Inn ★★★★
"What a hidden gem of a place. We went as a group of 4 for Saturday lunch and it blew our socks off! From the warm welcome and excellent service from the lovely Milly to the best surprise of all - the food! The chef had prepared a dedicated vegetarian menu for two of us which did not disappoint. My personal favourite was the spiced pumpkin velloute starter which was absolutely delicious but honestly, whether veggie or meat eater, everything was outstanding. My hubby had beetroot smoked salmon to start followed by steak, stout and blue cheese pie which he said was very tender and packed with flavour. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend."
Middletown Farmhouse B&B ★★★
"Lovely BnB, and nice to be able to opt out of breakfast. Room was very clean, comfortable queen double bed I think. Homemade shortbread and a litre bottle of water was a very nice touch. Friendly and communicative host. Off street parking thank goodness as the street is very narrow. The New Inn pub down the road served good food, big portions - welcome after a long journey."
Fox & Hounds Hotel ★★
"From all the Air Cadets and staff a mega thank you to the Fox and Hounds for your support during our recent visit to you for our four day Duke of Edinburgh Award expedition training. Your facilities and hospitality were second to none! Without your support the training would not have been as effective and successful."
The Oxenham Arms Hotel Devon ★★★★
"We’ve visited The Oxenham Arms many times for food and this was our second stay. We spent three nights here and used it as a base for walking. The location is absolutely perfect for exploring the high grounds of Dartmoor and there are countless walks available to everyone, regardless of ability, either from the pub or from a short drive away. The area really is second-to-none. The pub itself is—as always—full of historical charm with stories dating back to the 12th Century dotted around the walls. We stayed in the Chagford room with views of the village on one side and Cosdon Hill on the other. The room was lovely, the bed and linen super comfortable and the bathroom clean and tidy. At night, with the curtains fully closed the room was pitch black and near silent and, with the curtains and windows open, only the sounds of nature could be heard. We love everything about this place but the real cherry on top for us is the outstanding food. Everything is absolutely delicious, thoughtfully presented and impressively portioned given the quality of the food. We would eat here every night if we could. The cheese boards are a must. Finally, all the above would not be possible without the staff. They provide a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere with just the right amount of good humour and wackiness. We can’t thank everyone enough for an incredible few days of comfort and warmth as the autumn weather treated us to walks of epic proportions on Dartmoor. As long as Lynda and Simon and John are here, we will continue to visit and we’ve no doubt each visit will reinforce all of the above. Thanks again to all at The Oxenham Arms. X"
