Comfy clean room. Breakfast provided in the room is good ...unless you want a full fry up. Fresh & milk and generous coffee pods always a good sign. Why do I have to leave 200 characters for a Tripadvisor review? Apologies for this ramble at the end to meet the quota.

We stayed here as part of a Cycle trip around the South Cotswolds. (The pub is located just off National Cycle route 41). Our group booked two rooms, Dancers being the largest with triple aspect windows overlooking the garden and Boules Court. Everything was spotlessly clean, well appointed and comfortable: we were able to take our continental breakfast down into the garden, and the selection of breakfast items was very good - especially the home made Muesli. Dinner in the restaurant was very much enjoyed with a great choice of dishes from the reasonably priced menu. Previously we had had lunch here, which again was very good. The only comment we would make is that it would be nice to be able to meet a host - we arrived before the pub opens, and the key was in the room - in the morning we left before the pub opened, and could not leave any personal feedback and thanks, which is a shame, as this pub earns itself great credit. Thank You!

I have been a fan of this pub for decades BUT on Monday 27 May (Bank Holiday) I arrived at 21:10 for a drink and it was prematurely closed, all curtains drawn, doors locked. Some staff were drinking at an outdoor table round the side and confirmed it was now closed. Well before the advertised closing time. I’m sure the staff would say there were no customers so they decided to close. You wouldn’t accept that of the Co-op or Tesco. My pub wouldn’t do it. It is not not acceptable customer service.

We stayed at the Anchor Inn for two nights to break our trip to Cornwell. The establishment is basically a pub with 3 rooms. On arrival you are met by the bar staff who were very friendly. The room was excellent with a good shower. Breakfast is provided by way of a self cater which is refreshed each day. All the provisions are for your consumption.

Spend two nights at The Anchor whilst attending an event in Thornbury. Basically it’s a pub with some rooms, so all admin and reception is done by bar staff. On arrival, I received a very friendly welcome and was shown to my room. Room wasn’t large but quite sufficient for me. Very well equipped bathroom. Bed was comfortable and everything spotless. Breakfast is continental ‘do it yourself’ which suited me well. I’d only have a light breakfast wherever I stayed. What was in the room was all good and I was very satisfied. Room was very quiet, no noise from other guest, pub or road. Ate in the pub both nights and meals were very good, as was the beer on offer. If in the area I’d certainly stay there again.

We popped in with no reservation for an evening meal for 4 wondering whether we could be accommodated. We sat by the cosy log fire and were given menu's with a specials of the day menu too. The service was excellent. The food, when it arrived, didn't disapoint. The chef is brilliant. Well done. Hope you get this message as you should be proud of your food.

What pub these days don’t allow dogs and children in for food and beers on a Saturday when the pub is quarter full. Rude staff to boot. The 7 of us went into Thornbury and spent £150 on a meal and beers. Good luck to you as a business, clearly stuck in the 70’s still.

Well located for a great walk down to the Severn Estuary this is a nice pub with a garden alongside the river. The food was excellent - the sausages were clearly local butchers and just crumbled in the mouth. Really good. We stayed in Dobbins Room which was clean and nicely furnished. Breakfast is provided for self-assembly in the morning but it was very good. We really enjoyed our stay. There is, as has been mentioned in other reviews, some fan noise in the room. It appears to come from a kitchen extractor mounted elsewhere in the building ...which seems to transmit noise through the structure of the building. It does go on all night ...so a warning perhaps if you are a light sleeper.

I was recommended to try The Anchor by a local -- and she certainly knew what she was talking about. The food is excellent (without posing as gastronomic) and the service is efficient and friendly. I had a Caesar salad made with chicken peri peri and my guest had ravioli -- both delicious.
