"This pensão is in the heart of the old town, a couple of steps from the market and right beside the best breakfast in town – the Olho da Ria. It's a lovely old building whose one drawback is the very very steep flights of stairs between the floors. The street is not accssible by vehicle, which makes the place nice and quiet. My room was simple, clean and cool. Staff were more than helpful and there is a lovely cheerful atmosphere to the place, largely thanks to them. And very reasonably priced!"

"Our group stayed here for a private retreat. The property is beautiful with great rooftops and an outdoor pool in the courtyard. Sadly, the weather was rainy most of the time, so we didn't get to enjoy those aspects as much as we would have liked. The room is very minimalistic style, but very modern & comfortable (umbrellas provided in each room, hairdryer, etc). We greatly enjoyed our stay. The only thing I would suggest is better towels. They were a kind of towel I'd never seen before. Felt more like a beach chair towel than one to bathe with."

"We were looking for a place to stay in the Algarve which was away from the crowds of budget tourists and we definitely found this with Octant Vila Monte. The hotel is pure relaxation and luxury from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave. The hotel is really multiple buildings set in beautiful gardens. We enjoyed just walking from our room to breakfast or up to reception through different parts of the garden. The adults only pool is also perfect for couples without kids. Every member of staff we encountered from reception, waitstaff, cleaners and ground staff were all friendly and helpful. The hotel is a little expensive (especially in peak periods) but why not treat yourself? The slight disadvantage of staying here is there is nothing much within a comfortable walk of the hotel and you will need a taxi or car to get out and about. This is not any trouble though and the hotel can organize a car to take you to the local village (Moncarapacho) or down to Olhão. Moncarapacho is a quaint small village which is definitely worth a visit. There is a great local restaurant call O António. We walked in for lunch one day and returned the next day for dinner. Although we did walk in I would recommend organizing a taxi via the hotel (drop of and pre arranged pickup) as there is no real footpath for pedestrians between the hotel and the town and it would be more difficult to walk at night. The restaurant is not open every day so check before you go. Olhão is only 15 min by car and on the Ria Formosa where you can take boat trips out onto the water and nearby islands. The hotel staff also recommended several good restaurants here for an eventing meal. Highly recommended and worth paying the extra."

"A modern hotel comprising only 10 rooms in a quiet village location. Staff, rooms and amenities all first class. The views over the Ria Formosa and a large flock of flamingos was lovely, particularly from the infinity pool. All rooms appear to share the same view. Bikes were available from the hotel free of charge to explore the surrounding area which is particularly great for bird watchers. Nearby Fuseta is well worth a visit and from there you can catch a small ferry or water taxi to the neighbouring islands. Only slight negative is that there are no nice bars or restaurants in walking distance. For us it was a perfect place to relax after a busy week at Quinta do Logo."

"Nora's (8 years old) review: The pool is very cold. Breakfast is delicious: cake, chocolate milk, cookies, yogurt, and fruit. Dinner isn't quite as good, but the omelet with vegetables and fries is delicious. It's a very nice hotel; the rooms are lovely, and the colors are too. The playground could be much bigger. There's so much to do there: swimming, sports, sleeping, and billiards. There are beautiful flowers. Joke's (Nora's mom) review: Clean hotel, but unfortunately, it was far from our favorite spots in the Algarve, which meant we had to drive a long way each time. Breakfast is tasty and fresh, but basic and the same every morning (fresh fruit, fresh fruit juice, fresh cake, bread, a few toppings, and yogurt). We didn't find dinner as good (we ate five different dishes and only really liked one). For this, it's better to go to nearby restaurants (Olhao or Pechao, for example, where you have a wide selection and it's not too far). There's little for children to do, so don't expect a child-friendly hotel. However, the surrounding area is very quiet, so if that's what you're looking for, it's fine. The staff are very friendly, and you won't miss a thing. We booked the Benagil boat trip through the hotel, but that was a disappointment (the approach wasn't very professional). For this, it's better to go to Villamoura itself and see what they offer. Next time, we would choose the Lagos area so you can also more easily reach the west coast."

"We stayed here for four nights. Beautiful rooms - thoughtful decor, high end, every element considered. The breakfast is exceptional - the choice is plentiful and great quality. With only eight rooms, it’s never stressful. No other meals served - for us this with perfect, as were to see friends so we were out the rest of time anyway. Lovely little swimming pool. The hosts are so friendly and helpful for every little detail - they go out of their way to make you feel special. We honestly felt as though we were staying in a small exclusive location Good luck to the hosts for the future of this agro turismo. We would recommend it strongly."

"It is a very beautiful place, but the owners manage with volunteers instead of hiring employees. Although the volunteers are friendly, during my conversation with them, I learned that they and the animals are treated badly. When you think about how hygienically can a volunteer clean your sheets and makes your bed, question marks remain in your mind. I'm sorry for the volunteers who had a bad experience there."

"The place is dying and in dire need of repairs. Things like the front door doesn't open to the reception area and many tiles need to be replaced around the pool. The pool was not even operational or full. The laundry room is a joke full of dirty laundry and machines that don't work. There is a falling down event tent which is an eyesore. The property is not maintained properly. No one seems to care that it is maintained or not."
