Our stay at Hotel Angelo Engel was amazing — the ideal spot for a relaxing family weekend. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. The location is just perfect, close to Ortisei center and the cable car to go up in the mountains. The spa was spotless and well-equipped, with several saunas and a wonderful heated pool that's both indoor and outdoor. They even prepared a spa bag for me and my child, which was such a thoughtful touch! Our room was perfect, with a beautiful view and great amenities. Breakfast offered a wide variety of delicious options to suit every taste. We truly felt cared for and comfortable throughout the stay. Can’t wait to come back!

What a super hotel this is. We stayed for 4 nights in June and loved every minute. It’s not enough that it’s surrounded by the glory that is the Val de Gardena, but it offers the perfect respite after a wonderful day walking in the mountains. You never escape the fact that this is a family run hotel. The pride and attention to both detail and above all to the guests is quite superb. All the staff are fabulous but special mention to young Daniel in the bar, the very special Dando in the restaurant and to Margrit on reception. Literally a 2 minute walk from the town centre but a sanctuary from the noise and bustle, you just don’t hear anything. And on top you have an indoor and outdoor pool plus spa. Sitting on the terrace in the vending with a nice glass of wine looking up towards the hills was a perfect end to the day. The food is admittedly a bit limited in choice but I can assure you that every night my meal was different and it was excellent. And here’s the real coup. It offers the most unbelievable half board value versus some of the more expensive 5 star alternatives and is better than many I have stayed in in Italy. We will return without question. One tip, book a superior room facing over the garden, the view is better, they have a terrace and it’s quieter than the other side which faces a road. Also, be aware that the rooms do not have air conditioning. Whilst this was not a major problem, with night temperatures sometimes now staying in high teen in the summer, this could become more of an issue.

Hotel Angelo Engel in Ortisei exceeded our expectations in every way. We stayed there for six nights from the end of May until June. The location is perfect, in the center of the absolutely charming town of Ortisei yet peaceful and relaxing. Very walkable to the gondolas and anywhere we would want to go in town. The hotel grounds and pool area are beautiful and the spa treatments superb-a perfect way to rejuvenate our tired muscles from hiking and biking. A standout feature is the beautiful lounge hosted by the incredible bar team of Nicola and Daniel. We typically would hike or tour during the day and then come back for a swim at the pool, clean up and head to the lounge before dinner. Don't miss their amazing selection of 10 different Negronis, each thoughtfully crafted with local ingredients and a lot of love. It was a highlight of each day. A special souvenir was Nicola's secret Negroni recipe bottled in a take-home container. Highly recommend choosing the half-board option for meals. We were seated at the same table in the gorgeous dining room for our entire stay. Breakfast is served buffet style with a feast of local specialties plus traditional breakfast items. Cooked to order items are also available. Each morning, the evening menu with options would be on our table for our selections. The evening meals were fabulous and offered a choice of delicious and diverse menus. It was such a treat after a day of exploring to not worry about reservations or when or where we were going to dine each night. All in all, Hotel Angelo Engle offers charm, comfort and exceptional service. We are thinking about coming back for ski season!

Wow, what an amazing place to stay. First of all Ortisei is the most beautiful place on the planet. The hiking is superb and so are the people. Hotel Angelo Engel is one of those special boutique hotels. It’s impeccable in its charm and cleanliness. The pool is warm and inviting after a long day hiking each day. We found the food to be good and they offered something for everyone’s tastes. We also enjoyed a few spa experiences and found them to be excellent. About the hiking….it doesn’t get better than Ortisei. The hotel offers daily guided hikes, at varying levels with Georg. He was FANTASTIC. I can’t say enough good things about him and the daily hikes we took. I hated to leave and I can’t wait to come back. This was our second time visiting Ortisei and we will definitely come back and stay at the Hotel Angelo Engel. One piece of advice, do not just come for 2-3 nights. There is so much to see and do in the area that you really need to stay for longer. I’d say 6 nights minimum to really enjoy the hotel and Ortisei.

This is a beautiful and conveniently located property. We had a superior room with a balcony overlooking the gardens. It was well appointed with plenty of storage and very spacious. My only suggestion is to provide better lighting around the bathroom mirror for your women guests. The shower and products shelf is much more illuminated than the space where one can apply make up! There is no air conditioning so if you are staying in the warmer months be aware of this. We had to keep our sliding door open all nights for the room to cool down. The birds start chirping at 5:00am in June! The staff was wonderful And knowledgeable. We ate a dinner there and frequented their cozy elegant bar. I highly recommend both. We also took advantage of a massage service and Georg, the hiking guide. He was so much fun and helpful with suggestions even when we did not join him on his free hikes. The grounds and spa/pool areas were gorgeous. Even with no aircon, this was the best property of our 3 week trip in Italy.
