This hotel is extremely old, on par with a budget chain like Home Inn back in China. The breakfast selection was meager, soundproofing was terrible, and there was a strong musty smell. The duvet cover wasn't properly put on, and the bedding had a medicinal odor, making me itch all over as soon as I lay down. This was the worst hotel I stayed at during my entire 7-day trip; all the others, big or small, were comfortable. I really wouldn't recommend staying in Otaru itself. There are very few hotel options, and everything closes early in the evening, so there's nothing to see or do. The hotels are basic and not enjoyable. It's much better to do a day trip to Otaru and return to Sapporo to stay.

The hotel staff were very friendly and polite. The room was tidy and clean. The hotel is very close to attractions. The breakfast buffet was just okay. I look forward to staying here again for a few nights on my next trip.

Worst parking experience for overnight which charge me JPY 16200. Hotel car park is full and ask me park outside, but unfortunately I park at Family mart car park which is no maximum charge. As a tourist, I don’t understand the words there for weekend and I call to call centre don’t know English. After that I asked hotel to help call, but nothing can change and I forced to pay the MOST expensive parking in my life

The space is quite spacious and very clean. The location is super convenient, right by the subway station – just walk straight out and you can't miss it. I'd definitely choose to stay here again next time. I originally wanted to book for five nights, but they were fully booked for two of those nights, so I only got to stay for one. I'll definitely come back to this place on my next visit. It was excellent!

The hotel front desk are friendly and easy to communicate with English. The room is spaces and my room's window view is Otaru Canal. Very beautiful winter view. The hotel located about 15 minutes walking distance to The Otaru Steam Clock location and about or less than 10 minutes from the JR station. The check in time is 3pm but we reached before that the hotel also let us check in earlier. Overall I am happy with this hotel.

This was a good experience, with a canal view from the room. The room was spacious and comfortable, but the bathroom was a bit old. The staff were also helpful. However, parking here is subject to a fee.

This hotel is incredibly convenient and super clean! My kids loved the bathtub. I always wipe down the tub with an alcohol wipe as soon as I get into a room, and I was genuinely shocked by how clean the wipe stayed – spotless! This time, I got up early to try the hotel breakfast, and just as the reviews raved, it was excellent. Their soup curry!!!! You absolutely HAVE to eat that first!!! Otherwise, you'll end up like me, trying a bunch of other good stuff, only to discover the amazing soup curry later when you have no room left. I've regretted it ever since, hahaha.

Fantastic hotel with a beautiful canal view from the window! The hotel itself is elegant, and the staff at the front desk are very nice.

Near the canal and if that's what you are looking for, this is the hotel for you... Other than that, average breakfast, good service from the staff (which is basically everywhere in Japan), simple room...

Hotel Nord Otaru is just next to Otaru Canal, very convenient location. Especially wanted to choose this lovely hotel which I stayed 10 years ago in year 2015 with my family of 5 person. Booked to stay 3 nights in 2 rooms,one with Otaru Canal view and another with city view. Breakfast is considered good and satisfactory, with snowy canal view.Although is an old classic hotel but is nostalgic to me, clean and well-maintained. Staff service is good but please note one of my room somehow came with no cleaning room service,additional charge 500 yen per day to clean it. For my another room that has daily room cleaning service, just make sure remember to place outside the door knob, the hanging door card requiring room cleaning,else they will not clean.All is clearly explained by staff and also stated in a note given on the day when you checked into your room. Overall, I am happy with the stay and will come back same hotel again.

This hotel is super conveniently located right across from the Otaru Canal and just a few hundred meters walk from Otaru Station. You can walk to all the nearby attractions, and there are plenty of restaurants and cafes around. The breakfast spread is also very generous. Although the facilities are a bit dated, the room itself is spacious and very clean.

Old Hotel but excellent location. You have to pay for car parking charges.
