Biwako Hotel ★★★★★
"The hotel offers a shuttle service to Otsu Station every 20 minutes, which is very convenient for getting around. The room was great, with lake views, and there's a public bath. There's also a fantastic ramen shop right next door, highly recommended!"
Smile Hotel Otsu Seta ★★★
"The room was spacious and clean."
Lake Biwa Otsu Prince Hotel ★★★★★
Scenic lakeside rooms with panoramic views of Lake Biwa, pools, kid-friendly activities and easy access to the attractions of Otsu.
Yuzanso ★★★★
"Really liked it, the breakfast was delicious and plentiful."
Biwako Grand Hotel Kyo-Ohmi ★★★★★
"Overall, I was very satisfied with the hotel! The only downside was the food; it wasn't good value for money! Next time, I wouldn't opt for the two meals included in the nightly stay!"
Calendar Hotel ★★
"Excellent location, right at the station. Check in 16h00. No wifi offered. Hotel access via public restaurant - feels weird to walk between diners to go out / return. Lockers far too narrow even for airline carry-on. Bathroom is clean, shower has small dry area, and water pressure varies. Capsules are spacious with power socket, lights, shelf, etc. The mattress is a few cm thick piece of soft foam and is so worn that it feels like a slab of concrete wrapped in a sheet. Very uncomfortable! And I am 77kg, not overweight. The pillow is a bag filled with what feels like gravel stones. Breakfast comprises one hot / cold drink, a small pile of lettuce leaves with dressing, a thick slab of white bread that is scored about half way deep into a small chessboard and very lightly toasted, and a thimble-size serving of sweet fruit yoghurt. They do offer to hold luggage until 16h00 after check-out, and collecting it is easy and fast."
Yumotokan ★★★★
"Room is very spacious, comes with 2 sets of facial acre products both for man and woman There's even a 6 CD player with preloaded CDs inside ranging from Jazz to sentimental songs for your relaxation Food are delicious and nicely decorated Every day it comes with some free local snacks like financiers and biscuits One incident that didn't quite went well is early morning after breakfast As we are rushing to head out before housekeeping and there's no more water in the room, we return to the dinning hall and try to ask the staff to help to fill up some water in their provided water bottle. one lady took over the bottle and head to the kitchen to fill up, but we can hear she's complaining to her colleagues about it. Shortly, while handing over the bottle, she signal us to leave. We did so but once just stepped out, she simply slams the dinning hall shut! I was surprised by her reaction. It was quite rude of her to do that. If it's against the regulation, they can rightly say so and communicate upfront than doing this repulsive reaction Overall, a nice stay amid a slight mark on the service rendered"
Le Lac Hotel Otsu Ishiyama ★★★
"It's a nice hotel; if you plan your travel carefully, it's a good place to stay. Now for the downsides: the nearby drugstores close quite early, and the only places to go in the evening are izakayas and convenience stores."
Biwako Ryokusuitei ★★★★
"We visit hot spring hotels every six months, and this renovated old establishment is quite good. The hotel doesn't have a washing machine, but there are many laundromats about a 5-minute drive north. We picked one next to Sushiro, so we could eat while waiting for our laundry."

J-Hoppers Lake Biwa Guesthouse
"This was not the best capsule room I booked. But this guesthouse has their own kitchen so you can cook and barbecue and washing machine. Good view from the lake.It also have a hot bath. Mr. H**aru is so approachable. As a solo traveler, I felt I had left a friend there. From my 4-day solo trip I am glad I went there on my last day. I will come back there. 👍"
Biwa-Lakeside Cottage B B Dylan
"Note that for double bed rooms, the price difference between single occupancy and double occupancy is quite large, but the others are all very good."
Pension Lakeside
"Suitable for people who want to enjoy summer barbecues and splashing around in the water. There are no restaurants nearby, but there are no shops nearby. There are restaurants one stop away from the JR station. People who need to eat should check beforehand. The bath, toilet and washroom are shared on the first floor. The bed was comfortable, but the room was small. There is no manager on site (perhaps just behind?), so it may be good for people who value privacy. It is better to use it for a large group barbecue or similar, rather than staying as a regular hotel."
RIPSTICK Private Luxury Resort
View Lodge Biwa
"There is no toilet or bathroom in the room, only a washbasin. For Japanese people, it is very common to have such old family-style hostels without toilet and bathroom facilities in the room, but it will be very unusual for foreign tourists. To take a shower and go to the toilet, you have to go to the shared toilet outside the room. It is very inconvenient and scary to leave the room alone to go to the toilet in the middle of the night."
Ayaha Lakeside Hotel
"There is a shuttle bus from Otsu to the hotel. You have to call in advance to make a reservation. The service in Japan cannot be said enough. I have been traveling to Japan for business. This family trip, I booked breakfast and dinner. More varieties are better, and the advantage is that there are fewer people, haha"
Iza Oumimaiko
"Even with eight people inside, there was plenty of space, and we really felt close to nature."
Ogoto Onsen Yunoyado Komolebi
"A very clean and cozy ryokan. We visited the onsen with our family for the first time and loved it. They provide kimonos and all the necessary bath amenities. Dinner is included with your stay—a dozen different plates and bowls, all delicious, and breakfast is also traditional. There's a shuttle to the station, but we also walked to the hotel from the station to explore the area."
Hotel Alpha-One Otsu
"It's great value for money. The breakfast has a wide variety and is sure to leave you very satisfied. I stayed here again this year, just like last year, and will definitely be back next year. I highly recommend it."
Hotel Lotus Otsu (Adult Only)
"I didn't realize this when I made the reservation, but it was a love hotel. However, although the key handling was a bit inconvenient, other than that I was able to stay there without any inconveniences."
Hotel Atlantis Otsu (Adult Only)
"The room was quite large and very quiet."
Holiday Afternoon
"Very nice. The owner is very nice and helpful. He is able to speak English. Moreover, the private Onsen room is really impressive. Hope I can go next time."
Ofuro Café New Biwako Hotel
"Please note that rooms without baths do not also have toilets. The hotel itself is old, but we were able to enjoy the hot springs and magazines at the bath cafe next door until midnight, so we were able to spend a fulfilling time there. Breakfast was also delicious."
BIWAKO HANAKAIDO
"Whenever I travel, I always choose a hot spring ryokan to make the entire trip even more perfect. This time, I stayed at Hanadouya Ryokan. Overall, it wasn't bad, but I wasn't entirely satisfied either. The ryokan's hot spring facilities didn't offer milk or popsicles. In the past, many hot spring ryokans I've stayed at in Japan provided milk and ice cream. Additionally, the staff's attitude was just average; not rude, but they lacked warmth and smiles. For this price, we definitely have better options."
Dantokan Kikunoya
"The hotel staff is very good, their attitude is friendly, and the service is a plus. I will come back if I have the opportunity."
