"Stepping out of JR Ogoto-onsen Station, I spotted the shuttle bus across the street, waiting at a red light. I quickly waved, and to my surprise, the driver motioned for me to wait, then circled back to pick us up – incredibly grateful for that! 😊 The drive to the hotel took about 5 minutes. Upon entering the lobby, I noticed a slightly odd smell. The staff asked us to take a seat in the lobby. After checking us in and confirming our meal times, they showed us to our room. There was no odd smell in the room or restaurant areas. They even helped with our luggage – truly excellent service. The private hot spring in the room had continuously flowing water; I'm not sure if it's recirculated, but you can see Lake Biwa from there. The summer dinner cuisine was delicious! 😋"

"Very good onsen hotel, 20 minutes JR from Kyoto, after arriving at the train station you can call the hotel to arrange a free shuttle, 5 minutes drive to the hotel, very convenient. Maybe July is the off-season for hot spring hotels, and this stay was very value for money, choosing a room with a private bath, plus a one-night-two package. The room is very large, the private bath on the terrace is the kind of non-stop running water, without having to turn on the tap yourself. The room was very clean and tidy, the drinks in the mini bar were all free. The staff has a sweet smile and is considerate. The hotel has four public hot springs, each with its own characteristics, especially the Moonlight Hot Spring open-air hot spring located in Paradise, where you can watch the stars and moon while soaking in the hot springs and have an unbeatable lake view during the day. Very enjoyable. If you visit Kyoto next time, you may choose to stay at this hotel for two nights and enjoy the hotel facilities."

"There is free-size loungewear, but even for me, who is average for a Japanese woman, it was a bit tight, so I don't think many people would be able to wear it. The bathrooms are all in one place, and although you have to take your shoes off, there is a sign that says slippers are OK. If that's correct, surely there should be a place to store outdoor shoes somewhere? I can't help but think that. Overall, the room was clean, impeccable, and not noisy. I would like to stay again"

"This hotel was recommended to us by a Japanese friend. It exceeded our expectations by far. Beautiful Japanese design (combination of old and new), spacious room with all amenities, very friendly staff and free coffee/tea/wine and snacks. The good news is that it was only a short train ride from Kyoto. We were so happy to escape from all the tourists. Otsu is an authentic village with charming Local shops and restaurants. We would highly recommend to stay at hotel Koo!"

You can hear clearly the dishes being arranged and cars passing by in the corridor outside. "the location is convenient with Aeon supermarket and restaurants nearby. hotel room is large and clean. Though the hotel design is kind of conventional old hotel, I would accept that given its price , room size and location. the best part of the hotel is the view, overlooking the Lake Biwa. If you can manage to wake up early, you are able to see the sunrise from your room. breakfast is unexpectedly good. Not to mention about the nice lake view from the restaurant, the variety and quality of food is good. highly recommended for its value for money."

"We appreciated that the hotel provides complimentary pick-up and drop-off service to the nearest subway station between 7:00 am and 9:00 pm. Breakfast is served in traditional Japanese style, featuring rice, grilled fish, eggs, and some vegetables. Coffee is not included and must be purchased separately from the hotel’s café. Bedroom: The tatami mats felt slightly dusty, possibly because the room had been vacant for a few days after the last cleaning. There was also a strand of hair on one of the pillows when I lifted the duvet 😅. Although the room was ready, the hotel does not allow check-in before 3:00 pm. Check-out time is 10:00 am, which is earlier compared to many other hotels. We were charged an additional ¥4,000 for a late check-out at 11:00 am (extension of an hour). The in-room onsen was excellent, the water flow was strong and hot enough for cold weather. The bathroom mirror was also spotless. The hotel was quite empty during our stay, so it would be appreciated if management could be more flexible and allow early check-in when rooms are already ready. The check-out time should also be extended to the standard 11:00 am. Not allowing early check-in while also enforcing an early check-out time does not seem very favorable for guests."

They have a shuttle bus to and from the train station, and you can enjoy the hot springs in the evening, although the indoor and outdoor baths are relatively small. Walking along the lake is very pleasant. It's not super convenient for getting to various attractions, but transportation around Lake Biwa isn't particularly convenient in general. The easiest way to get around is by chartering a car or driving yourself. Overall, it offers decent value for money."

"The room was compact and clean, typical of a standard Japanese hotel in terms of layout and hygiene, though a bit dated. The peeling wallpaper didn't affect our stay. It was my first time using a key for both opening the door and activating the electricity. Toiletries, a fridge, a coin-operated washer/dryer, and breakfast were all provided, which was very convenient for my cycling trip. The hotel staff could communicate in simple English, and even if they didn't understand, they used a translator; their attitude was friendly and welcoming. The location is definitely its biggest advantage, being very close to JR Seta Station and bus stops. It only takes 5 minutes from the room to the platform, so bringing my bicycle wasn't an issue. There are convenience stores, ramen shops, yakiniku restaurants, and even a Torikizoku that stays open late nearby. If I come back to Kansai for another cycling trip, I'd definitely consider staying here again."

"It was my first time staying in an orthodox townhouse, and I was pleasantly surprised. The house is very unique. The hostel lady can't speak Chinese, but she kept communicating with a translator. The breakfast set meal is delicious. If you come to stay, you must order breakfast in advance. There is also a vinyl player in the living room, which is very nostalgic and sentimental. Otsu is really a very quiet town. On the last day of 2024, I spent a very peaceful day here."
