What amazing staff! So friendly - they really told us lots of interesting things. We loved it. We can recommend the beers from the local First and Last Brewery. Even better they come served in a good old fashioned glass with a handle. Himself had stottie and chips - if you don't know what a stottie is, it's time to find out. And I had wild mushroom crepe and warm potato salad. B****y gorgeous.

I have been to this restaurant maybe six times in the last 10 to 12 weeks. A fabulous Sunday lunch and normally fabulous service. Last Sunday unfortunately was one of the worst levels of service I’ve ever experienced in perhaps 10 years. The main lowlights being 20 minutes before they brought our drinks, which we got up to finally get at the bar. Nobody caring about the tables. A large post-wedding table next to us clearly upset with standards. No check to ask if we needed more drinks, and despite promises, no bill at the end. In the end we got up and had to wait at the bar to pay. Even when told the service was poor, they couldn’t give a stuff. Staff just chatting at the bar rather than bothering to actually do their job. This totally down to the manager and he wasn’t managing at all. Very sad considering there were about 4 tables in the restaurant. Clearly there are too many customers about these days and they don’t need to bother. The date of the visit was 26/01. I’ll leave a 5 star review for the other times as well, but on the basis we drive an hour each way to eat here, I don’t think we’ll bother again, or continue to recommend.

Quality meal with exceptional service. We were first time visitors as a family of three. Every single member of staff we encountered were so friendly and easy going. Special thanks to Chloe who went above and beyond for us, helping us clear up when we spilled our puppy’s water. The food arrived swiftly and was piping hot. Generous portions and really tasty. Would highly recommend.

The bedrooms look NOTHING like the website. They are shabby, tired and cheaply slapped together. Not at all worth the money. We were expecting luxury, which it is most certainly not. The restaurant was disorganised, there were quite a few things on the menu that went available. Two of our meals were forgotten about. We had to get up from the table to go to the bar and try and get drinks. It was faulty towers on a bad day.

Lovely food however this is the 3rd occasion I have been with extremely poor restaurant service. Drinks ordered and never came, when we reminded the waitress they came (after starters) and the order was wrong. Waited ages for plates to be cleared etc. Asked twice for dessert menus then had to wait 20 mins for order to be taken. For the price of the desserts you would expect more than a tablespoon of ice cream with the sticky toffee, with minimal extra cost to the restaurant. Only reason I return is because I’m local. 2 out of the 3 occasions the restaurant has been nearly empty, so no excuse. However the Sunday when it was busy there was plenty staff about so again, not much excuse.

Really unhappy. My husband booked hotel for a weekend away, checked in to be told restaurant was full & gave a list of restaurants or takeaways! This totally defeated the reason for staying. It would have been nice when booking to be told it was advisable to book a table in restaurant. The hotel is not in walking distance to any other restaurants, so after driving almost an hour to get to hotel we then had to find a restaurant to drive to. Basically spending very little time in the place we had booked & paid for. For this reason I would not stay again!

Very nice, cosy hotel. Good breakfast, good service, a warm welcome. Nice rooms with great bathroom. Very nice area to spend your time. We got a upgrade what is always nice. A good place for 1 or more nights to stay. We will be back when we come to England again.

Andrea was our server and she was so friendly and happy. She was able to answer all our questions about the food which was delivered promptly. For less than £13 you can have a selection of sandwiches, wraps or stotties with a generous serving of fries.

My husband and I went for lunch today and were really impressed. The restaurant was lovely, very on trend and the staff were great...very friendly and helpful. We shared a seafood platter, which we both loved. The only downside for me was the desert. It was a Malteser crepe, and other than being filled with cream, I think there was maybe one malteser and half a scoop of ice-cream! I can never understand scrimping on inexpensive ingredients. Saying that, it wouldn't put me off returning...I just wouldn't order a crepe ☺
