On arriving at Otterburn Castle I was impressed to find such a building in the middle of a small village. We unpacked our car and were met with what can only be identified as a sunny disposition/welcome in the form of Alex. Being a family run business we came to learn that being on reception was part of his duties along with helping out during meal times. He was courteous informative and helpful throughout our one night stay. After unpacking we came across Ellie the proprietor of the castle. As with her son, extremely helpful willing to please. All mixed up with a piece of feeling that you had just popped over mams to spend the night. As with Alex, Ellie was quite chatty and keen to get to know her customers as well as giving a bit of the background on how she became the castle owner. This made us feel all the more welcome. After walking out for a short while we returned to our spacious, wooden clad, well equipped room. All of the features were in keeping with castle which made it all the more special. The evening meal was outstanding! We both had steaks and were impressed both presentation and taste. In conclusion our visit was great. I would recommend anyone to visit. Whilst they run on a skeleton staff (being just Alex, Ellie the chef and a house keeper you would not think so. Ellie, Alex and the chef thanks for making us feel so welcome and looking after us on our weekend away. We will return!
