The Rutland Arms Hotel, Bakewell, Derbyshire
9.1 (119 reviews)

The Rutland Arms Hotel, Bakewell, Derbyshire ★★★★

📍 The Square, Bakewell

"Located in the town center, the hotel offers free parking directly opposite, but it's quite small and operates on a first-come, first-served basis. The lobby has a quaint, antique charm. The rooms are tiny; a double room is fine for one person, but a bit cramped for two. The garden next door is absolutely beautiful. Charleston Restaurant is also right next door and gets very busy, so reservations are a must. Breakfast was pretty good."

Days Inn by Wyndham Chesterfield Tibshelf
8.5 (67 reviews)

Days Inn by Wyndham Chesterfield Tibshelf ★★★

📍 Roadchef Motorway Svc Area, Newtonwood Ln, Newton, Alfreton

"I often considered booking this hotel when coming home to visit but after these last 3 days I will definitely use it more, previously I had always booked premier inn hotel never again, this hotel has AC which during the last few days has been a godsend and the added bonus of a walk in shower that was actually quite powerful, compare that to the premier inn asking for £300 for 3 nights with no AC and a shower over a bath that is totally useless, this cost £179 for 3 nights absolute bargain."

YHA Hartington Hall
8.5 (65 reviews)

YHA Hartington Hall ★★

📍 Hall Bank, Hartington

"Staff were very helpful and friendly. Room was clean and comfortable, and the location is great for both cycling and walking. There were a lot of flies about, including in the kitchen, which was a bit irritating. The electric fly killer in the latter didn't seem to be very effective against them. However, this is intended as an observation not a criticism."

Palace Hotel & Spa

Palace Hotel & Spa ★★★★

📍 Palace Rd, Buxton

"Even though we arrived an hour and a half before check-in, they still allowed us to go to our room. The room was large, bright, clean and had a lovely view."

"Be careful booking here. I booked for 1 night and had to cancel in less than 24h because of personal reasons . They charged me £110 cancellation fee ,and booked the room back out hours later. I emailed them 5 times and didn't get a reply for 2 weeks saying thats there policy, absolute joke of a plaice. STAY WELL AWAY"

"Absolutely outstanding stay. The room and all hotel was spotlessly clean. The rooms amenities were very good, ironing board, iron, hairdryer, towelling robes, extra blanket and pillows, fridge, lots of coffee and tea and milk with a coffee pod machine too. Water in fridge. Amazing views from the bedroom AND bathroom. Tv choice was excellent with Netflix etc Could not fault. The breakfast was out of this world!!!!! First class service and food. Loads of choice Will definitely stay there again and ONLY there from now on Thank you to Jane who checked us in. Lovely lady and very helpful indeed."

The Hide at Chatsworth ★★★
"The hotel is located on the road near Chatsworth Manor after leaving the town, suitable for self-driving tourists. The night before, I had a delicious dinner in the hotel lobby. I especially recommend steak 👍🏻 The hotel room is a regular level, parking is free, and it is only a 12-minute drive from the hotel to the manor, which is very convenient. Overall it is good."

Buxton Crescent ★★★★
"Honestly, all the hotels in this small town are close to the attractions, but Crescent really is in the heart of it. The breakfast is good; try to go early to beat the crowd, definitely don't miss it. I found two blonde hairs in the room, but overall, the cleanliness was acceptable. I accidentally pulled the emergency alarm in the bathroom, but no one came to assist for over 8 minutes. I had to go to the front desk myself to ask a staff member to turn it off. If you're traveling with elderly people, please keep this in mind. Also, I highly recommend paying extra to use the spa facilities; otherwise, staying at this hotel wouldn't make much sense, as guests don't have access to the pool. Unfortunately, the Roman-style baths in the basement were under maintenance when I visited, and the indoor baths on the second floor were too stuffy, while the outdoor baths were so windy it gave me a headache."

YHA Castleton Losehill Hall ★★★
"We’ve stayed in one of the rooms before and had no problems and this is the reason we had no qualms about returning. This time we stayed in a land pod as this is all that was available at short notice. We payed £120 to stay in a tiny hut, the ground around the area was overgrown and full of mole hills, which you had to walk across to get to the outdoor loo that was like something from the 1900. There was a fire pit that was full of old burnt logs from the previous occupants and there was ash and burnt logs all around it, it was just awful. We’re used to camping in tents and staying in pods etc so using outside facilities is not a problem for us. They sell it as if 4 people can stay there and I think that is how they can charge what they do, however my husband and I was struggling if we both tried to move through it at the same time and we’re average sized people. They’re a joke. If I’d have paid half the price I’d have accepted it as quirky but I just feel proper ripped off. Castleton is lovely, I only live an hour away but wanted to visit the Devils **** for a gig and relax and have a drink which was amazing. But unfortunately the stay has put me off. I’ll drive in future."
