The location is excellent, right on High Street, opposite St. Mary's Cathedral; the room is newly renovated, the layout is pleasing to the eye, and the bedding is comfortable; the service is warm and thoughtful, and there is a small backyard with free parking. Recommended!

I left my luggage at the hotel front desk for two hours, and then went to the airport for a flight back home in the evening. This was my fourth stay at Old Bank and, I'm delighted to say, this is still an excellent hotel operating at true 5* standards. I'm a huge fan of Old Bank and consider it one of my favourite hotels in the UK. What I love is the consistency of quality. This is not a cheap hotel, but I think the value adds up. First, the interior design is excellent. It is restrained but interesting; stylish but supremely comfortable. There are great details throughout - in particular the lighting is excellent throughout. I love the artwork that is throughout the hotel - in particular some of the large pieces in the lobby and corridors. It adds real richness to the experience of staying at the hotel. The rooms are highly functional. Every detail is provided. I love the leather top writing table, the comfortable armchairs, proper quality speakers. There's real milk in the fridge for tea and coffee, and lovely house-made biscuits on arrival. Somehow the bathroom doesn't get steamy when showering and the toiletries are lovely. There's a subtle night light in the bathroom for middle of the night trips without disturbing others. The bed linens are excellent and the duvet a sensible weight. Bathrooms are immaculate, with top quality fittings. These may sound small things, but they add up to a lot - a properly functional, comfortable hotel room. There really are very, very few hotels that are at this level of attention to detail in England. There's also the lovely Library only for hotel guests - a comfortable place to sit and relax. That along with free parking for hotel guests make up two meaningful benefits when staying in Oxford. Dining is great at the hotel. I love Quod and have eaten there many times now. The food is honest, well executed, tasty and well priced. That's true at dinner and breakfast. Then last but no means least - the service is just great. The reception team in particular are outstanding. They're warm and professional in a way that marks out a proper 5* standard. Requests are dealt with promptly and accurately. I asked if I could move room based on a location preference. The receptionist handled this generously and efficiently. Similarly, the Quod team are friendly and on the ball. Similarly, housekeeping is at the very highest standards as is maintenance too. My room was in tip top condition. I love that the hotel offers a turndown service - again a mark of proper 5* standards. I'm struggling to think of anything that would even be an area for improvement... I am, for sure, looking forward to staying again...
