We were excited to come here, booked on the back of an influencer posting about it (I now, after investigating, realise their trip was gifted, so I feel a bit silly - but that’s on me!) A “stroll” through fields was actually getting thorned and scratched through this monstrosity of a very narrow path BETWEEN fields - the thorns brambles and thistles met in the middle it was horrendous - and even the kids play area had massive thorns in and around it. Raised this with the team who were lovely, and I asked if the thorns could be cut back as they were at my toddlers eye height - but the general manager who called me back quickly sent the experience downhill! Told me I didn’t understand what rural was (I live in Derbyshire and walk regularly in the peaks!). I tried to explain that the path wasn’t a stroll through fields and again asked if the thorns etc could be cut back as we had gotten hurt, and mentioned that if the advert has been clear I’d have bought a baby carrier (and not worn shorts - what a mistake). Was told that some cutting down would be done - I’ve added pics before and after - not a noticeable difference I’m sure you’ll agree. The lodge itself (caravan - way overpriced for what it was) was fine, double bed was horrendous though and none of the windows had black out blinds or curtains so lots of very early mornings from our little one). I contacted customer services when I got home (due to the way I was spoken to by the general manager on site) who basically said it’s a public right of way, not their responsibility and we didn’t have to use it - despite the website encouraging you / signposting you to use it (and not giving you full details - the booklet in the lodge, however was very comprehensive about the walk - a bit more honest when you’ve arrived and the moneys already exchanged!)- also added a pic of this - this should be on the website when you’re aimed at families which in fairness they agreed with. They also (general manager and customer service person today) didn’t ask if we were oky despite me telling them a toddler had gotten hurt I also said that this spoilt the trip a bit getting hurt on day 1 and that we’d purchased on the basis of being able to easily to get to Padstow on our own time not reliant on buses every 2 hours - she told me that the website doesn’t sell Padstow just their park and facilities - it literally references Padstow harbour (where the walk takes you to) in the first line. Just literally no accountability, apology, enquiry to how we were (from the gen manager) and just a very brusque “all I can do is apologise it’s already done now isn’t it” from the lady on the phone. I told the lady on the phone I’d post them some pics so they could see what my point is about the path (they just keep saying it’s a field, can’t see the issue) and she said “if you want to take to social media that’s fine” which wasn’t what I was saying at ALL - but actually, since you’ve told me to post it, I will, so here you go
