Hostal Arriazu

The location is superb, very close to all attractions, with restaurants all downstairs, and it's just a few minutes' walk to Café Iruña, Hemingway's favorite. The room was spacious, bright, comfortable, and clean, and the windows were very soundproof, completely blocking out the noise from downstairs. The handsome receptionist explained the password usage in detail and even gave us a map, showing us all the attractions and recommended restaurants and streets. It was a very pleasant stay.

My stay at this hotel turned into the worst experience of my life. On the second night, I had a mishap with my phone alarm and overslept. The staff's reaction, instead of being professional, was appalling and violent. They woke me up with shouts and slammed doors so aggressively it seemed they were going to break them down. The situation escalated to an intolerable level when the manager on duty, completely out of line, proceeded to take my personal belongings (my clothes) and throw them out of the room. I had to leave the room in my underwear to try and bring some sanity to this totally inappropriate situation. I felt degraded, humiliated, and my rights as a guest were completely violated. They took the situation to a point that warrants a complaint, treating me in a way I have never experienced before. This establishment is absolutely inadvisable. Don't risk it.
