Royal Breeze Paramaribo

Royal Breeze Paramaribo ★★★★

📍 78 Waterkant, Paramaribo

"The scenery is nice, and the local climate is great, but it's a bit far from the airport. There's a buffet breakfast, but the selection isn't extensive, and it's definitely not as good as breakfasts in China. Overall, it's a good experience."

Eco Torarica

Eco Torarica ★★★

📍 Cornelis Jongbaw St 16, Paramaribo

"The environment is great, with an open-plan breakfast restaurant where you can see birds strolling around. There's a swimming pool, though a bit small, but you can swim at the nearby Torarica and Royal Torarica hotels. Advantages: Great environment, shares resources with the two adjacent hotels; Disadvantages: Rooms are hard to book, often fully booked."

Waterland Suites

Waterland Suites ★★

📍 Waterlandstraat 17, Paramaribo

"It is hard to say positive things about the Waterland Suites but in truth it is not all bad. On the positive side, my room was large with a comfortable bed and a sort of kitchen area that included a kettle and fridge. The bathroom was okay with lots of hot water in the shower and both the a/c and wifi worked fine. There is a small pool at the back that was clean. Unfortunately, the not so good things outweigh those positive aspects. Firstly, the hotel is oddly situated in what seems to be a suburban area at least 15 minutes by cab from the central city area. It is so far out that it in an area that isn't even officially classified as Paramaribo. The building is wedged tightly into a walled compound. The view from my ground floor room was first of window bars and then coiled razor wire on top of the fence which was at most a meter from the window. It was very dark even in the blazing sunshine. There was a bedside lamp with an EU plug while the power outlet was US configuration. In other words, the lamp was purely decorative. There was no restaurant and none were obvious nearby. The reception area was very small with one 2 seater couch and there was nowhere else to sit that wasn't in my gloomy room. Dogs howled all night. Although we were supposed to stay 3 nights we left after 1. "

Courtyard Paramaribo ★★★

📍 Anton Drachtenweg 50-54, Paramaribo

"Decent hotel for Paramaribo but not exactly up to Marriott's standards. OK facilities, service could be better and very expensive price."

Jacana Amazon Wellness Resort

Jacana Amazon Wellness Resort ★★★★

📍 Commewijne St 35, Paramaribo

"Arrived to the airport from Miami around 01:00 am June 30 and was really looking forward to staying at Jacana as I had heard very good things about the place. After waiting for my luggage and getting through customs I took a taxi to Jacana, arriving around 02:30 am. The gate was closed and the place was quiet but I was finally able to get the attention of a security guard who opened the gate. I explained to him that I had a reservation and he said that nobody was here to check me in. He then looked around and found a piece of paper with my name on it and a card key for a room, the room number appeared to be "308", but could have been "302", or something else..............we ultimately tried the card key on ALL rooms with a "30x" and it didn't open any of them. I had arranged for my vehicle to be delivered there the previous day, which it was, and after 40 minutes of trying to get into a room the security guard found the key to my vehicle and I arranged a room at another hotel and left, finally arriving at the alternate hotel around 03:30 am. I have experienced similar situations over the years where I have arrived at a hotel very late at night but it was never an issue because there was instructions left on how and what to do upon arrival, as well as a contact number to use in the event of a problem, in these instances there never was a problem and things worked out fine. I am giving this place a 1 star review simply because of the lack of communication, I did not stay there, although I really wanted to. The little I did see of the place in the dark was stunning and I would like to experience it sometime in the future and at that time I will write another review."

"Stayed May 13 , 2024 for 2 nights. It was a horrible experience. I was unaware of US$100 deposit . My hotel and transportation was prebooked by my local agent in Guyana.when i arrived after a long journey the lady at front desk said i needed the deposit even though my accomodation was prepaid otherwise i could not check in . I was left in the lobby pondering my next move as she said i could not get refunded the already paid for the room.i tried to negotiate with the lady to hold my credit but did not accept . I am not a local i was eventualky forced to venture to get money from my card . After about 2 hrs i was checked in. Day 2 no water in the shower nor handwash sink no apology from the manager nor front desk. I informed the desk i will be checking out at 3: 30 am in the morniing, she said no one will be at the desk at thst time. I had to make a decision to catch my flight or wait for the deposit of $100 . I left withour my deposit and i forgot and left with their key.For the key they are still pending a balance of 1375 srdfor me. Managemnet and front desk are very rude. I slept on a stained bedsheet..Didnt complain because already had a bad checkin experience"

Royal Torarica ★★★
"The Torarica Hotel is located in an excellent spot, offering easy access to key attractions and a pleasant surrounding area. However, the overall experience does not justify the high price. The fitness center is outdated and poorly maintained, making it unsuitable for a proper workout. Service is slow, and staff seem more focused on enforcing rules than providing a welcoming atmosphere. Unfortunately, the quality and service level are more in line with a solid 2-star hotel. (Swimming pool opens around 08:00 and gym is not 24h open)."
