I usually wait until the end of a trip to write a review—but this time, I simply couldn’t. Everything here is above and beyond, and I felt compelled to share my joy even before leaving. From the moment I arrived, I felt completely at ease. The atmosphere is serene and welcoming, and every detail has been thoughtfully curated. Breakfast was a daily delight: a beautifully arranged table with fresh fruit, chilled water, and little touches that made each morning feel like a celebration of calm and care. The space is not only comfortable but intellectually enriching, with a wonderful selection of books and plenty of fascinating material about French culture and language. It’s the kind of place that feeds both body and mind. And the owner—what a remarkable woman. She is warm, gracious, and incredibly well-educated. Her hospitality is genuine and deeply felt, and her attention to detail is nothing short of inspiring. She made me feel not just welcomed, but truly valued. This stay has been unforgettable, and I’m already dreaming of returning. If you’re looking for a peaceful, enriching, and heartwarming escape, this is the place.

Me, my wife and two teenage daughters had a lovely time at Chez Pépé Merle! Claire was a wonderful host. She immediately made us feel welcome, made sure we had anything we needed, and offered excellent suggestions and advice during our five-night stay. She got to know us and our likes, and her fresh breakfasts were delicious. We came during a hot time in Paris, so she made sure we always had plenty of cold water (still and sparkling!) and sodas in the refrigerator. The beds were comfortable, and the rooms and bathrooms were spotless clean. Chez Pépé Merle is located in a non-touristy part of the 11th arrondissement, with a very close metro station around the corner, as well as many excellent dining options that cater to local Parisians and not just tourists. Behind an unassuming entryway and up some creaky stairs in a lovely old building, lies a hidden gem. If I was a local, I would take relaxing weekend getaways to Chez Pépé Merle whenever I could.

Great stay and wonderful host. The rooms were clean and beds really comfortable. Well positioned for both the metro and bus stops. Claire was an amazing host who gave us tips and advice about travel. Breakfast was delicious and different everyday. Parking was arranged for us in a secure underground spot too. As a family of 4 we had the upper 2 rooms with our own shared toilet and bathroom which also had its own door entry. Highly recommended staying here!

Such a lovely stay with a wonderful and welcoming host. Claire has lots of tips and knowledge.of all things Paris and was very happy to share. And also very accommodating as I speak very little French and therefore spoke in English. That was really appreciated. Thank you!! Chez Pepe Merle is around a 20 minute walk to Paris Gare du Nord train station for Eurostar and train travel. 5 minutes from the amazing Pere Lachaise cemetery and has excellent links via metro and bus, to anywhere in the city and beyond. I walked a route to the Eiffel tower that was recommended by Claire which took me past Notre Dame, The Louvre, through Tuileries gardens to Cleopatra's needle, up the Champs Elysées and on to the magnificent L'arc du Triomphe. There are electric city bikes to hire everywhere. Sign up to the apps before you go so that you're ready to hire them. I say this as it took me 20 minutes and it would have just been more straight forward if I'd done this earlier. The facilities at Chez Pepe Merle were lovely and clean with a really good shower room. Great shower!! And the bed was wonderfully comfortable. Breakfast was delicious with coffee and lovely bread, cheeses, jams and fruit salad. Just lovely!!! There are also lots of places to eat and drink, and the food was delicious. Also, local shops open late and a couple of nice cheese and wine shops. I don't usually do reviews but people should know about this place. And then get booked in. I cannot recommend staying here highly enough. Thank you again Claire for such a lovely stay. Duncan :)

Wonderful excellent beautiful

My family had a fantastic stay at Chez Pepe Merle. The area is great with several places to eat and access to the Metro. The apartment was clean and comfortable, and we were made to feel at home during our stay.
