Ibis Paris Canal Saint-Martin

The hotel is quite close to Gare du Nord and other metro stations. The price is affordable, and check-in is available from 2 PM. The room size is decent, and still water is provided.

Great location, but check-in was very slow.

Close to the metro station, the room, though small, was well-designed and clean. The only downsides were the semi-open shower, which easily splashes water outside since it doesn't have a door, and the lack of a kettle in the room, which would be convenient for making tea or coffee.

We arrived at 6:30 PM, and the reception was there to check us in. We found a clean room. The only downside during our stay was the sewage smell coming from the shower. The staff was attentive, and the breakfast was hearty.

Overall, the hotel offered great value for the price, and the staff were very friendly. The bathroom and room were well-equipped and matched the photos perfectly. However, the room had a slightly musty smell when we arrived, and the hairdryer was quite poor. The hotel is very well connected to public transportation, and the location is lovely with the canal just a few meters away. That said, there was some sort of tent encampment along the canal, which made us uncomfortable walking by in the evenings. Despite these minor issues, I would still recommend this hotel as a budget-friendly option.

Don't stay in room 108. It's right next to the outdoor fire escape, and as soon as you open the door, you're hit with a strong smell of urine. I put up with it for one night and then the hotel switched me to a better room. At least the service was good.
