Hotel Lutetia, Paris

Paris|0.46km from Jardin Catherine Laboure
What else would you do on a wet, blustery, rainy March afternoon in Paris, but pamper yourself with a leisurely high tea at the wonderful Lutetia Hotel? My daughter and I booked a 3pm slot and having deliberately foregone lunch, we arrived hungry & right on time. We were seated immediately by a very efficient & kind hostess beneath the highly decorative glass roof in Le St-Germain and ordered the set afternoon tea menu for 65€ with Blue of London tea for me and a delicious thick hot chocolate for her. Our drinks arrived promptly and we chatted as we waited for the pièce de résistance: 3 savoury and 7 sweet items. After another 35 minutes of waiting, our stomachs finally stopped rumbling. Obviously chef patissier Nicolas Guercio's creativity wowed us, especially the Crab with yuzu sansho, daikon infused with grapefruit on the savoury side, while the Pineapple and green cardamom sorbet vied with the Scones clotted cream and raspberry jam (memories from my childhood!) on the sweet side. What wowed us much less was the fact that we were asked to vacate our table at 4:50pm! Not only had we waited 40 minutes to actually eat our afternoon tea, but now we were being rushed out after an hour and 10 minutes! Nowhere on the website was there mention that you have under 2 hours to consume your afternoon tea. So future afternoon tea amateurs, beware, there's no such thing as a leisurely afternoon tea at the Lutetia!

Le Placide Saint Germain des Pres

This was my first time to Paris and I had such a great experience for the 5 days we stayed. We were greeted by 24 hour staff that bent over backwards to make our stay exceptional. I always felt safe and felt a priority. It was my birthday earlier in the month and they had a bouquet of the most beautiful flowers , a card and macaroons waiting for my on arrival in my room. We had breakfast included with our stay and it was amazing every day with staff always eager to make fresh coffee, cappuccino, eggs, etc. The room was great and has plenty of space for your needs, room was cleaned well and equipped with all your needs. I loved having two windows to view the street and get fresh air in bathroom and bedroom areas, the elevator was tight quarters but great just for avoiding the many tiny stairs Paris offers. Benjamin, Pierre, Emmanuel , Sosanto and everyone we encountered went above and beyond to assist us with taxis, restaurants, stores, directions, metro info and anything we asked. The decor is beautiful and cozy with fresh flowers, umbrellas are available to use. I. like that they keep your keys so you do not have to worry about them when you are touring Paris. They placed chocolates on our clean beds-so adorable! You have a hot pot and teas, coffees in room and minibar. There is a safe and nice Babybliss hairdryer! If I ever get the chance to return to Paris I would hands down choose here again for my stay, Thank you for all you do for your guests-it is a pleasure to stay here.

Location cannot be beat. A sweet little street in the heart of St. Germain Des Pres - easy walk to sooo much and dotted with picture perfect cafes, markets, etc. The staff could not be nicer! Absolutely lovely and considerate and helpful - every one of them. The place is pretty. A mix of modern glam in a traditional parisian building with moldings and big windows. The common areas are comfy and inviting and nice to have. Our room came with breakfast which was wonderful. Fresh breads and baked goods, meats, cheeses, jams, fresh fruit, eggs, pancakes and crepes, yogurt - you name it. Also cappucinos or lattes and fresh juice. The servers are a delight. It was such a nice way to start our days. We upgraded to a jr. suite with a little parlor and then the bedroom. loved having wood floors, tall ceilings and windows. The room was painted deep mauve tones and had nice drapes and cute velvet chairs and settee. The built in closet had a good amount of drawer space and was laquer and clean. There was a small fridge and safe too. Beds and linens were spotless and comfy. Bath also spotless and nice Phyto products, robes, slippers and cozy towels. We would have loved more table top space, drawers in the tables, and space in the bath for our things, but we used the towel shelf and it worked fine. Not a big deal. I read that it was loud - but we didn't hear a peep from the street. super quiet and zero noise from other rooms or the hall. Also saw notes on dark hallways - really, who cares? They are clean and it's the style. For Paris, we know we had a lot of space and having the little parlor was really nice. My only note is that the hotel and the rooms are heavily perfumed - I'm sensitive to that and got a headache and runny eyes. The staff were on it immediately and aired our room and cleaned it so by day 2 it was fine. And they sent us champagne for the inconvenience - so thoughtful! When we go again, I'll just ask for that ahead of time. We didn't get to use the little spa but went and peeked and it's so cute. Another nice bonus. Truly this is a special place. With a lovely and welcoming staff, sweet comfortable and clean rooms and a stellar location. Merci Merci for a lovely home away from home in Paris!

Hotel de Sevres

Paris|0.41km from Jardin Catherine Laboure
The hotel is close to quite a few Metro stops and within 40 minutes of departing at Gare du Nord we were at the hotel. We went direct to the hotel with the intention of dropping our bags but we were able to check in early which was blissful after our early start. The hotel was clean in the communal areas as well as our room. Our room was on the sixth floor with a view of the apartments not the city view as described. This did not really bother us as we don't generally spend much time in hotels. The room was warm so the aircon was always on at 16 degrees when present. The bathroom was a nice size with space to store toiletry bags. The hair drier was excellent (I have very long hair) but the cord could have been more flexible. It was nice to have plenty of space in the shower to put toiletries. There was a shower curtain which both my husband and I detest. It was clean! The main room was quite spacious with a large full length mirror. There was limited storage so a chest of drawers would have been useful - 2 small drawers in the desk was the only space for putting your smalls. My husband lived out of his suitcase! Only one comfy chair. We didn't book breakfast so can't comment on this although none of the staff asked us if we wanted breakfast and there was no information in the room as to what it included. ( we had breakfast in one of the many cafes around - 5- 12€) Likewise we had no idea what was available in the bar area or costs as there was no price list in the room. Being British I like my cuppa in the morning and due to medical conditions mint tea in the evening and during the night - next time we will bring our travel kettle! Limited sockets in the room for charging tech and if you have an iPad with no 4g then you will not be able to connect to wifi as you need to connect through a email. Internet was good. The room could do with a refurbishment as lots of holes in the walls. It did look like it had been repainted in recent years. Overall a good experience for our 4 night stay and if we went back to Paris we would consider this hotel again.

Hotel Vaneau Saint Germain

Very good location and safe, next to M Vaneau. The front desk personnel, the lady at the breakfast bar and the tech were all very polite and courteous, they were even friendly and kind. This makes me want to return to this hotel, only because they made me feel taken care of. The only thing I would recommend is changing the old carpet in the bedrooms or exposing the natural wood that might be hiding underneath. Otherwise, everything was excellent. Not an elegant hotel, but the nicest people taking care of their guests.

Hôtel Mayet

This was our second stay at Hotel Mayet. Great location. Far enough away from touristy haunts, but there are plenty of nearby cafés and restaurants. Plenty of sites within walking distance, Bon Marche department store, charming shops and parks in the area. Two metro stations very close by. Fact that it fronts a quiet side street is a big plus in a busy city when the weather is fine. No outdoor cafe/bar/street noise to be heard. Very helpful and pleasant staff. Breakfast is plentiful. Rooms can be small but are cheerfully decorated. Hope to visit again soon.
