Hotel Lutetia, Paris

Paris|0.79km from Musée du Luxembourg
What else would you do on a wet, blustery, rainy March afternoon in Paris, but pamper yourself with a leisurely high tea at the wonderful Lutetia Hotel? My daughter and I booked a 3pm slot and having deliberately foregone lunch, we arrived hungry & right on time. We were seated immediately by a very efficient & kind hostess beneath the highly decorative glass roof in Le St-Germain and ordered the set afternoon tea menu for 65€ with Blue of London tea for me and a delicious thick hot chocolate for her. Our drinks arrived promptly and we chatted as we waited for the pièce de résistance: 3 savoury and 7 sweet items. After another 35 minutes of waiting, our stomachs finally stopped rumbling. Obviously chef patissier Nicolas Guercio's creativity wowed us, especially the Crab with yuzu sansho, daikon infused with grapefruit on the savoury side, while the Pineapple and green cardamom sorbet vied with the Scones clotted cream and raspberry jam (memories from my childhood!) on the sweet side. What wowed us much less was the fact that we were asked to vacate our table at 4:50pm! Not only had we waited 40 minutes to actually eat our afternoon tea, but now we were being rushed out after an hour and 10 minutes! Nowhere on the website was there mention that you have under 2 hours to consume your afternoon tea. So future afternoon tea amateurs, beware, there's no such thing as a leisurely afternoon tea at the Lutetia!

Hotel Fontaines du Luxembourg

Paris|0.22km from Musée du Luxembourg
We chose this hotel as had previously stayed at the sister hotel a number of years ago and loved the area and ambience. On arrival we were offered an upgrade to a suite. The suite had paint peeling off the wall, beside the lift and an internal view. On swapping rooms, we had an adjoining room where we could hear everything the couple in the next room were doing not to mention it smelled of damp and the shower door was hanging off and the heat/air conditioner squeaked the whole night. Having been out all day, when we arrived back at the hotel looking for a night cap, there was no white/rose wine only red and were directed across the street to the local shop. We raised these issues with the day reception staff the following morning and were informed the chief would discuss with us the following day, this did not happen! We were also assured that there was plenty wine available and therefore the following evening we attempted to acquire some wine, this time there was only one white wine available (though no price could be given) and they also seemed to have run out if ice “come back in 3 hours and we will have more”. The hotel information states these facilities are available 24/24. The reception staff were aware of the issues with the heat/ air con in 306 - but sadly not a solution to fix it. None of the issues we raised were resolved ... so in short if you are looking to stay in this area - I recommend you look for a different hotel.

Hotel Michelet Odeon

Very Parisian quirky hotel close to the Latin quarter , Luxembourg gardens a bit of a retro feel on the hallway walls but the rooms a quite plain. Our room was overlooking the back and side street which had 2 French doors to open for fresh air , however you need to close at night as can get noisy with sirens blasting. The lift is a tad small luck to fit 1 person and a bag which made us laugh but more convenient then carrying up the stairs. Only disappointing thing was that you only get 1 small bottle of water and a small supply of tea and coffee, which I believe should be refilled daily. They have a modern safe system which we had to download the app to access. Friendly staff, clean and great location.

I intend to stay at the hotel the next time I visit Paris and so will my niece who was one of our group. It is clean and comfortable and the staff are efficient and helpful at all times. There are good places to eat nearby, bistros and the Art Nouveau restaurant, Bouillon Racine.

Le Clos Medicis

Hotel chic location: In step-by-step accessibility Luxembourg Garden, Notre Dam de Pari, Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Elysee Fields, Triumph Arc, etc. within an hour of walking. Also near the chic Church of St. Serein with a 2-row windows throughout the perimeter. In general, walk - not to go. The dream of a tourist! The rooms are small. Both of us will be tight. Or come to bed on the principle of ”come-fallen.” The beds are comfortable, the rooms are clean, everything you need (except slippers) is present. A small safe will not allow you to put a tablet or laptop in it. In this case, a lock on a suitcase will be useful if you want to leave the equipment in the room. If I decide to return to Paris again, 99% that I will stop again in this hotel.
Residence & Spa le Prince Regent

My family and I truly enjoyed our stay here at Le Prince Regent. We always look forward to coming back to this nice and cosy place after a long day out. The apartment is very clean and there is daily cleaning provided which is great! Very friendly and helpful employees, ALL of them! Superb location surrounded by popular cafes and restaurants that are all within walking distance. We didn’t need to travel out far just to find good places to eat. Overall we felt happy and safe! (P.s hope my 2 kids weren’t too noisy 😆, they really enjoyed themselves here.)
