Upon arrival in Paris, we spent seven nights at this charming and elegant boutique hotel. A genuinely pleasant hotel located in the Latin district of the left bank. As Paris hotels go, this would still be expensive and considered luxury. However, it has a lot going for. Beginning with the location: It is a short block away from the Seine River overlooking the Notre Dame Cathedral. It is about one block away from the Shakespeare and Company bookstore. We comfortably walked to all the major sites of Paris. However, taxis are plentiful, and the hotel can arrange as needed. As it is in the heart of Paris, the hotel is on a noticeably quiet, narrow street. The rooms were very nice with modern amenities. We have been to Paris a few times and I would judge the room we stayed in is larger. The bathroom and especially the shower were spacious. We had windows overlooking the front courtyard. Paris was a bit hot and humid while we were there. The air conditioner was just OK, but we found that opening the two windows (we were on the fifth floor) helped. Each night we found chocolates, wine, and other items that made for a pleasant experience, thanks to the PR manager Maria, who made our stay a bit more enjoyable and welcoming. Thank you, Maria! What really makes an exceptional hotel, however, are the staff. And… for that reason, we consider this hotel to be an exceptional hotel!! The staff were extremely helpful and sincerely friendly. We were made to feel right at home. We were always being checked upon to see if everything was to our satisfaction. We ate breakfast each day in the hotel cafeteria. They served an exclusive buffet of a variety of breads, cheeses, meats, yogurt, juices, and many more Parisian delicacies. They also offer eggs and coffee made to order. Service was extremely good. They took care of all our bookings and made arrangements for taxis to Paris Disneyland and other areas through their preferred vendors, so we always had great drivers. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel for its location, extremely brilliant staff, and the physical facilities. Suggestion: If you are planning for taxis be sure to understand if the taxi is considered a private transfer or a normal metered taxi. Not a big deal, we took a taxi a short distance to the train station for 50 Euros. That is the going rate for a private transfer.

SO/ Paris Hotel

Paris|0.71km from Shoah Memorial
I booked my wife to stay at this hotel recently and she loved it. I needed to be in Paris, and decided to try it myself. It is now the place I will always try to stay in Paris. The great thing about this hotel is that it is a perfect trade-off of price/location. In September, we stayed at the Faubourg Sofitel (also Accor) which is about as 'Prime Paris' as you can get. Right next door to the Elysee. For that, you got a hotel which was about 50% more expensive, for 40% less product. SO/ is central, but a bit on the edge, and for me that is worth every cent of the tradeoff. Additionally, the tradeoff places you right next to the river with views of Paris that are sensational. And anyway you are 5 mins on foot to the Places des Voges - this is still beautiful Paris. Other big pluses: - food quality is really high in Bonnie. We went for dinner and breakfast. Both great. Dinner buzzy, and possible the most beautiful breakfast room views imaginable. In summer.... wow. - rooms are extremely high quality fit out. Bed is incredibly comfortable. Just be aware that there is now bath or desk even if a room which could accomodate it - staff are charming and very well trained. - access by car is easy. Very few people will be driving (but I was). Access is super simple, and the valet parking v reasonable (about Eur40) - I didn't use the gym or pool, but they looked amazing by Paris hotel standards - I loved the design concept of the hotel. It is young and modern without being like a W (which I don't like... trying too hard) I strongly recommend. Thank you SO/ Paris.

Crowne Plaza Paris République, an IHG Hotel

Paris|1.54km from Shoah Memorial
We stayed six nights at this fairly spartan property that was fitted with basic room attributes including a small refrigerator, a hair dryer and a tiny safe. We requested a coffee maker and received a hot pot with instant coffee. Getting an iron in the room proved a bit of an ordeal. The room was clean and the beds were quite good. Hotel staff was uniformly convivial, accommodating and helpful with exception of an encounter with the night manager (more on that later). Only one low voltage outlet in the bathroom was provided that could power an electric razor. My daughter brought a dual-voltage curling iron and hair straightener that could not be used in the bathroom due to lack of an electrical outlet. Staff ultimately provided an extension cord to be strung from the nightstand, and over the bed that my daughter was able to use to reach a wall mirror in the bedroom. We had the misfortune to be at the property during the annual Pride celebration at Place de la Republique directly in front of the hotel. My wife has mobility issues and we had to push through hundreds of drunken celebrants to get to the only entrance to the hotel. Scary stuff getting pushed along by a mob where my wife could have fallen and been trampled. I understand the Pride celebration is a public event but its a scheduled event that the hotel could have alerted clients to and made provisions to have opened a guarded entrance on the backside of the building away from the inebriated mob. With an early morning departure to the airport, I went to the desk the night before to check out so we could leave quickly the following morning. The front desk clerk advised that the hotel had my card on file and my e-mail address so they would send me the bill thereafter with nothing additionally to be done the next morning - just drop the key and run. As we were leaving early the next morning the night manager told me that I couldn't leave because I hadn't settled my bill. He inferred I was skipping out without paying the bill. I recounted the discussion I had the previous night and he repeated firmly that the bill needed to be closed out before we could leave. It was an uncomfortable encounter that was unnecessary. Somebody needs training here and its not the client. In summary, I'd say this property lacked many expected elements for the price point and as such could only describe it as providing moderate value. The lack of provisions to accommodate client access during the Pride celebration and the check-out snafu made it seem that they were somehow new to the game.

External - good. Pretty and modern Reception - small. The breakfast area is made up of random tables and mini stools. Stairway - narrow and only allow one pax to walk Lift - narrow and super restricting with no ventilation. Allows one large luggage and human to stand. Staff - the night shift team has no empathy and not service oriented. The grumpy bald old man has the worst attitude. I wanted to check the invoice before I make payment for my 5 nights of stay and he demanded that I pay first before he can print out. What attitude is that?! One redeeming factor is the day time team managed by Gwen. She is an angel and god sent. She tried to help as much as possible and took time to explain. As she was on vacation leave, we only get to see such warm hospitality on our 4th day. Imaging the relief I felt after talking to her about the AC issues. Room - clean and tiny. Does not allow us to open our luggage as the space left to walk is super minimal. Shower area is 2 steps away from the foot of the bed. Toilet is tucked in a corner one step from the head of the bed. What I was super upset about: The AC is spoilt on the first day I arrived. It got “fixed” after dinner and we slept well. The ridiculous part came. The AC is spoilt again on the 2nd night. The reception staff lied and say the entire hotel is affected. We slept without the AC and the room has no ventilation. It is unsafe to open the balcony door as it looks easy for people to climb up. 3rd night when we came back, the AC has issues. I called reception and it got resolved 5 min later. In the middle of the night, the AC is switched off with no ventilation in the room again. ==> Gwen subsequently explained on our 4th night that the hotel is on heater mode. Hence there will not be any AC. As for the ventilation, she confirmed that each room has a small ventilator to allow air flow which felt non-existence to me. I would highly NOT recommend this hotel. After a day of touristy day and a day of enjoying the beautiful city, the least I need from a hotel is a good night sleep. This hotel bed is too soft and the AC is not enabled. In my definition, when a hotel does not provide 24h AC should not be given hotel status.

The location is very good, there are supermarkets, restaurants, bakery, food shops nearby, and the room is in good condition. Because it's a family of five, I got two rooms, but the room is not big, but there is no inconvenience. The front desk staff is very friendly. I will catch it here next time I come to Paris.

This is the funniest little hotel! If you are wanting a 4 star+ Paris experience then this place may not be for you, as it is quirky, old and needs a little more TLC but looks like they've done the best they can with an old property. The room I had was tiny and that was a larger room. One small room with a bed, desk, small wardrobe and adjacent small bathroom. The breakfast room is a basement area, but serviceable. I have food allergies so out breakfast out as they cant accommodate special diets. The lift is super small, if you have a lot of luggage you may have to put it in the lift and then you walk up the stairs up yourself. ** However, for the price in this location it is very good value! The room was quiet so slept well and I found the staff friendly and helpful, spoke pretty good english, and the wifi was good. It can be a bit hard to find this Hotel, luckily I caught a cab from Orly airport (price capped at Euro37) and I asked the driver to point out the Hotel sign (up high so look up for it), so I wasn't left in the lurch on the sidewalk. The entry door is standard size, not double doors and black with no name, so hard to see it. I would recommend this hotel, I really enjoyed my stay, the quirkiness, and the location you can't fault for the price. Enjoy Paris!!

My mother and I spent 6 nights at this wonderful boutique property and enjoyed our time there immensely. Attentive and warm staff, pristine and comfortable conditions and a private, quiet respite from the fabulous, bustling neighborhood filled with every convenience and luxury one would desire. We will be back, for certain - and thank the 9Confidential team for their stellar hospitality.

From London to Paris alone, this location is particularly convenient to check-in attractions and is safe. As long as you bring earplugs and can live in a dormitory with different people, it feels like a great experience. Breakfast is also very good, should stay here next time.

Great hotel, WE stayed here for three nights, and we had a room on the last floor (6th) with a nice view on the rooftops. Room was small but very cosy. No noises, we could sleep very well. Considering I am 1.9m tall, the bed was of an appropriate size and comfortable. The bathroom was new and clean. There was a niche to put our clothes - rather small indeed but ok for a WE. The hotel is decorated with a very good taste. We had breakfast at the hotel and it was also good, with service at the table (no buffet). All the personnel was really friendly and helpful. Great experience also because the location is perfect and central.
