After the epic flood of 2022, the Park took on the monumental task of rebuilding the entrance road into the Park through Gardiner and it is finally finished. Yellowstone Park's North Entrance is back in business and this home is the perfect home base for your visit.*Please consider supporting our incredible town following this unexpected season.*______________________________________Electric Peak Retreat offers a special experience for visitors coming to the Yellowstone area. It is nestled on 3 acres of land with 300 feet of Yellowstone River frontage that provides private river access. It sits just below Electric Peak, an 11,000 foot peak in the north end of Yellowstone Park, the views and surrounding landscape are awe-inspiring. LOCATION: 5 miles from the Roosevelt Arch marking the North Entrance to Yellowstone National Park in Gardiner, MT. It's incredibly convenient to serve as a base camp for all of your explorations of the Park and surrounding area (see updates above about access). You truly feel connected to the beautiful nature around you. There is a great natural hot spring located less than 3 miles from the house as well. DESCRIPTION: Nature often puts on a show for our guests. The Yellowstone River is rich with wildlife and activity, especially as the sun is coming up. You can soak it all in from the comfort of the living room or deck as you have your morning coffee. Elk, deer, otters, bald eagles, osprey, coyotes are common guests!The main floor has an open floor plan with a large kitchen that adjoins a roomy dining area and Living Room, ideal for gatherings and games. The deck is accessed off of the kitchen and provides a wonderful spot to sit and watch the sun drop behind Electric Peak as you relax with your family and friends. A gas grill is provided on the deck for creating true summertime outdoor meals. Also on the main level is a wonderful master bedroom (king bed) with an ensuite full bathroom. It’s not often that a bathroom has such incredible views, but this one does! Guests will enjoy the soaking tub as well as the walk-in shower in the master bath. A cozy bonus reading room with a single twin bed sits just outside the master bedroom. This would work well for a small child who wants to sleep nearby. A half bath is available off of the great room.The lower level is all about a casual and relaxed vibe. It is a walkout onto the yard. There are 3 bedrooms (each with a queen bed) and a full bath with a shower/tub combo. A great family room with large screen TV and comfy couches is downstairs as well. Laundry with washer and dryer. The home sleeps 9 comfortably if you include the bonus room’s twin bed. All of the mattresses and linens are high quality since getting good sleep can make all the difference on vacation. There are 3 bathrooms.The kitchen is fully stocked with all you will need to make most meals. NOTE: This home is incredibly special to me because it served as a home for my family of 3 boys up until now. I have managed rentals in the area for other owners and have received only 5 star reviews for my service. Winner of the 2010 Historic Restoration Award from the Montana Historical Alliance , this rare 2 story hand-hewn square log cabin was built in 1907. Austrians used Broad Axes to fashion unbelievable 'compound' dovetail corners locking the logs in place for over 100 years. The address of the cabin is: 25 Papesh Road, Gardiner, Montana if you want to Google Map it's location. It is a short 5 MINUTE drive to the North Entrance of Yellowstone Park. The cabin sits on 42 quiet acres once called 'The Little Trail Creek Ranch.' It once fed tourists in Yellowstone Park. It is only 4 miles north of Gardiner,Montana and the north entrance to Yellowstone. The cabin is not visible from the highway, and has lots of grass, trees and water. Out front sit the mountains of Yellowstone Park and the Yellowstone River. In the back is the Absaroka Wilderness. The old tree stumps that built the cabin are still visible up the cliffs behind the house. Herds of Elk, Bison,Deer and Bighorn Sheep use our land all year due to the trees and open water from abundant springs. We like to go to 'The Boiling River' - one of the best natural hot springs in the world! We were married there 26 years ago, and still go with the kids whenever we can. It is only 7 miles from our door, and it's free once inside Yellowstone Park. The spring is closed May and part of June due to high water, but Chico Hot Springs is 22 miles north, and it has wonderful food. On Sunday, you can eat the brunch and swim for free. For 13 years we fixed up the cabin. It was fun. There are all new appliances, a 6 burner stove with convection oven, new electric and plumbing, and heating. We used antiques and old wood salvaged from train stations and hotels where needed. The old wood in the cabin has a certain 'glow' that comes from age. During the renovation, I found many items I put into the chinking. Pocket watches, coins, buttons, even a gun--and 3 bullets in the logs [all at waist high level]. There is a steam shower for use in winter. A 4000 pound Tulikivi wood stove [for use only in winter] uses radiant heat to warm the cabin. It is made of soapstone, which will stay warm a full 2 days after a fire. There is one bedroom downstairs, and 3 upstairs. A double bed is in the sun room, and the couch downstairs in the Tulikivi room is oddly comfortable for sleeping. We do not have AC but there are fans in every bedroom and ceiling fans in the great room. To keep the house cool, open the windows at night and shut them first thing in the morning.Just inside the front door under the covered welcome porch is a spacious open floor plan with the fully stocked kitchen and spacious living room. Between the dining room table and breakfast bar, it’s easy to seat all guests inside for shared meals. There are two queen bedrooms and one full bathroom with a washer and dryer unit. The glass door leading to the upper deck has a wraparound deck with additional outdoor seating as well as a BBQ. The downstairs has a large master king bedroom with a private entrance to the lawn and shaded cement patio seating area, a kid’s play room, full bathroom, and a dorm style bunk room with two sets of twin bunk beds, a twin with a trundle bed as well as a stand-alone twin bed. Although it’s a rural neighborhood, there is plenty to do. The former owners of Canyon House live nearby and have a fully operational outfitting business (Wilderness Connection) that offers horseback rides, white-water rafting, and zip lining. Historic Gardiner, the only year-round entrance to Yellowstone Park, is a short 20 minutes away. A step back in time to the Old West, Gardiner’s main street has restaurants, art galleries, gift shops, gas stations, a grocery store and a small pharmacy.The Yellowstone River is 4 miles away and is the longest undammed river in the continental US with fantastic trout fishing and white-water rafting. You must purchase a fishing license to fish there. It's easy to fish from the banks, only minutes from the house, or hire a guide to take 1-2 anglers via drift boat. Guides provide shuttles, all fly-fishing gear including rods, reels, and flies, as well as lunch and instruction. A perfect experience for novice or expert fishing folks. The river also offers exciting white-water rafting for the thrill-seekers in your crowd (or tubing for the mellower ones).Yellowstone National Park, about 20 minutes away, features world-famous geysers, abundant wildlife, and landscapes of stunning beauty.
