Had a Gammon, only complaint it was huge lol. Well cooked, salad was beautiful and fresh. Garlic potatoes were gorgeous, I tried to fish the meal but I couldn't.. My Dad had salmon, asparagus, with salad. Portion perfect size with new potatoes. He really enjoyed. Service was really good, prompt and polite. Thanks guys, as I recommended you..

Room was clean, warm and pleasant. Nice soft clean towels and plenty of tea, coffee and sugar in the room. The bed was very comfortable we slept well. Food was lovely. Staff very helpful and friendly. Stayed for 3 nights visiting family. There is some noise of a night but nothing different from many hotels we have stayed in. I would describe this hotel as quaint.

Awful place, worst I have stayed in. Cramped, unclean, filthy floor mat by bed. Smell of faeces from adjacent room's toilet masher, no signs to rooms, freezing cold radiator, trickle of barely warm water, No staff on site at night In all, a tired neglected disaster, staff don't seem to care.

YOU WONT GET ANY SLEEP What an Awful place. Last year I was let down the night before my stay and was treated very unfairly. This year I thought give it another chance because it’s reasonably priced and the food is nice. We arrived to a huge group of women, being very rowdy. This soon escalated. We were sat having our meal with the women shouting and swearing. At one point they were shouting, happy birthday you old c word. (The owner sat there joining in) all vaping with children and baby’s in the restaurant. it was that bad the one of our children started crying and had to leave. I’m totally shocked. Our table was at 6.30pm. There were children sat trying to eat their food. These women were totally feral and the owner was one of them. The noise coming from downstairs was horrible, screaming and shouting and loud music. They do not care that there are people trying to sleep upstairs. We ended up leaving very early in the morning without having breakfast (we couldn’t wait to leave) tired from lack of sleep. It’s Such a shame because this place could be really nice if it had decent management. I would never stay here again.

Missed our Ferry due to traffic delays & diversions on Fri 19th, staff at the dock recommended the best place in town, The Dolphin Hotel, to relax & eat until the next departure at 2.30am. We had a passenger 86 years old who thought this was such a welcoming establishment & all the young staff were so professional & just marvellous customer care. The food was just delicious with a great menu, adapted to whatever the customer wanted. Thanks Chef & management for a marvellous experience & memorable dinner!👌👏

I prepaid this by phone from Australia, an inconvenient method of payment and arrived at the hotel at 1500 hours after a lengthy walk from the railway station to find the hotel closes between 1400 and 1700. Owner Natalie had not informed me of this. I bought a beer at Market Tavern next door. A very kind drinker eventually told me to go round the back of the Dolphin Hotel. Fortunately a man, perhaps a general hand was in a small back annexe and told me where to find the room key. The next battle was hauling my suitcase and backpack up two floors, with rundown fire doors in the way. I sweated! The attic room had a satisfactory bed but was very poorly lit. There was not even a towel rail in the bathroom. The TV was on the blink. A bargirl came up and tried to fix but after she went back down, the problem recurred. Turning on hot water meant a loud noise from the heat pump. An archaic system never used in Australia. The toilet flush was slow to operate. There was a fly and spider in the room. I like spiders but dislike flies. Shampoo, a kettle, tea and coffee and a shockingly tiny fan were in the room. No aircon, so what do guests do on warmer days? Opening the attic window just introduces more warm air. The room could have just fitted a suitcase portable stand but this was lacking. The bed lacked a top sheet. Sleeping under a doona can be hot. Compared with The Railway Hotel at Westerfield UK that was closer to London and near Ipswich UK, the Dolphin Inn at an identical GBP60 tariff represented poor value. And brekky only starts at 0800. Far too late for my early departure.
