"Hotel is lovely, public areas and bedrooms are excellent quality. Staff are helpful. Apart from another resident had charged their drinks bill to my room and the staff asked me for proof I hadn’t ordered the drinks which seemed inappropriate and delayed my check in. Spa access is not included in price, costs an additional £15 for 24 hrs. The facilities are excellent though, the best gym I’ve seen in a hotel. Penrith is lovely. Definitely recommend."

"It was nice we got a newly refurbished room but we were there really late to check in due to cancelled train we had an awful experience! However the staff at George inexperienced could find my booking and wanted me to leave in a few hours after 12am in the dark another staff member came found the booking - he said that staff doesn’t have access - rather than admit he didn’t have access he wanted to kick me out! Even tough I showed him my booking and shared the booking reference! After that stares it was ok.. the staff were lovely! Forgot the veg sausages in my breakfast! It was so delicious we didn’t notice until after breakfast! Anyway 7 out of 10! This was only because of that staff member and the sausages! The place was vintage and homely but very clean!"

"Stayed here several times, even a couple of times when they had only just re opened following each of the Covid lockdowns and always enjoyed, had a fab welcome and the rooms are clean. Not saying its perfect for everyone as some of you will not be a fan of the gold and red decor in the rooms , reception and corridors. But its not shabby its just old fashioned. The bathrooms are moden and the bar and restaurant have had a face lift with a not ultra moden colour scheme of cream and blue but it suits the building style. Dont expect spa, gym or pool and dont expect room service or cocktails. But you will always get a warm and friendly welcome and service. The setting is off the beat and track , but worth finding this gem, at the side of the woods , with stream running over waterfall and rock oh and keep your eyes peeled for red squirrels. Food is good at breakfast though no veggie sausages which some did complain about, food is good value in the evening though a limited choice of 4 starters 4 mains and 4 puds including a veggie option. Yorkshire portions for the main and loads of veg. Bar prices higher than pub prices but not that bad for a hotel. "

"I had a lovely stay and at the Travelodge, it was affordable and the perfect place for a base to explore the Lake District. The hotel is 15 minutes walk from the town centre but didn’t feel it was too far at my way. I’ll definitely come back if I’m coming to the Lakes again 😊"
