Hotel S. Ercolano

Hotel S. Ercolano

📍 via del Bovaro, 9, Perugia
★★ 8.2 (50 reviews)

"Absolutely terrible. I thought hotels in smaller towns would offer better value for money, but the opposite was true, just like prices in rural areas aren't necessarily lower than in cities. The single room had a persistent smell of smoke that just wouldn't go away. This is the only hotel I've ever stayed in that's been this bad; I opened the windows for hours to ventilate, but it didn't help. Like many places in Italy, the heating was only available for limited hours, and I was woken up freezing. They only gave me a blanket and a sheet to cover myself with. The soundproofing was incredibly poor; I was woken up in the middle of the night by a family coming home from outside. I was furious! How could they stay out so late in this small town?"

"The hotel recommended by the locals in Perugia, you can see the night view by walking 100 meters, it is beautiful, and you can see the stars. Hotel facilities are good, breakfast is rich, nearby is the city center, there are good restaurants to choose from for one or two hundred meters."

Santa Cecilia Perugia - Rooms&Suite

Santa Cecilia Perugia - Rooms&Suite

📍 Via Antonio Fratti, 14, Perugia
★★★ 7.6 (5 reviews)

"Don't even dream of booking this place if you don't use Whatsapp, because it's very difficult to communicate with them otherwise. And even so, after getting no response about leaving our luggage at noon, it took about 15 minutes to get buzzed into the facility. The skylight over the bathtub was so badly broken that all the heat went out through it. When we tried to go out again we wanted to test all of the keys so we could be sure of getting back in quickly and the key to the outer door got stuck in the keyhole. We finally were able to get an answer to our call, but the person didn't seem to understand our problem either in English or my good Italian."

Hotel Umbria

Hotel Umbria

📍 Via Boncambi, 37, Perugia
★★ 8.0 (32 reviews)

"Some of the reviews left are inaccurate and I can say must come from people who don’t appreciate the real authentic Perugia. The hotel is charming and just off the main area. Yes it’s a bit of a steep walk up to it but you are in old town which is a maze of interesting walkways on a hill! What do you expect? The bathrooms are perfectly appointed. I am not small and I could fit fine into the shower, the bathroom was no smaller than what you expect. As for the person that commented on the carpet on the stairs, it was beautiful. The room we had “23” was a perfectly adequate double room with a cute window. The staff are kind and welcoming. We loved to stay here. It was charming and comfortable. The location sensational. If you want to stay in a soulless modern hotel this is not for you, and probably Perugia is not for you either. Wonderful stay!!"

"A beautiful historic residence near Perugia, complete with a restaurant and spa. The rooms are spacious and equipped with every comfort, with water, coffee, and beverages included in the price. The breakfast is delicious, with a wide variety of sweet and savory options. Recommended for a relaxing stay."

Perugia Plaza Hotel Hotels in Perugia

Perugia Plaza Hotel

"This hotel is situated outside the main Perugia city, down a hill and a 25 minute walk from the mini metro. Its not terribly convenient for tourists. The rooms are tired. Minimal facilities with old fashioned bathrooms. We found the service OK. Not particularly helpful, expect for one assistant. Be aware that standard European plug adapters don't seem to work in any of the room plugs. The hotel will lend you some for a 5 euro refundable deposit. The breakfast was very disappointing for a 4 star hotel. The only hot food was eggs and they were dreadful! Otherwise, standard bought in products. It's not bad if you have to find a bed in Perugia...but suggest you look for others first."

Relais Dell'Olmo Hotels in Perugia

Relais Dell'Olmo

"At first glance, the bed in the room allocated to us appeared spacious; but it was just two worn out single mattresses shoved together. One mattress had a significant dip; it should have been thrown away a long time ago. It would have been more comfortable sleeping on the floor -unfortunately I did not bring my ground mat and sleeping bag. The shower cubicle was a little shabby with some tile grouting discolouration. The toilet pan had a degree of scratching/staining - probably limescale. I could not find one English speaking tv channel -so this is not an International hotel in that sense. There was often noise from the reception area and from the bar space until around midnight or 1am. The road was not busy, but due to the hotel's proximity to the road, traffic noise was a further disturbance throughout the nights."

Borgo Dei Conti Resort Relais & Chateaux Hotels in Perugia

Borgo Dei Conti Resort Relais & Chateaux

"We stayed here for 2 nights whilst touring Tuscany. The property is breathtakingly beautiful, approached by a long driveway up to an impressive main building (the resort comprises of several buildings). The welcome was warm, with a tour of the relevant aspects of the property, and a lot of information that is hard to remember - at least it was for us (in our sixties). There is nothing written down … more on this later. The rooms are generously sized with a modern decor. We booked an executive room and were upgraded to a “junior suite”. The room had no seats, except for a singe armchair on an upper level, making it difficult to sit and talk together in the room. There is a massive amount of storage, and everything worked well (no problems with air con for us). We decided to have an aperitif in the bar before dining, but after 15 minutes they still had not brought the wine! I had to go and ask to be served! There was some issue with the wine we chose, but they should have told us right away. Later we asked for some printed information about the hotel and its facilities, and were told there is a QR code to scan in the room. After dinner we searched in vain for this QR code, went down to reception to ask for it, and were then given a print out in Italian! Later on they brought the menus and wine lists from the two restaurants to our room as well! It was all a little odd - why not just display the code on the screen in reception and let us scan it? Dinner was excellent. We dined in the more informal restaurant above the pool, and the food and service were ver good, especially the sommelier, who helped us choose an excellent wine to accompany the meal. This property is very beautiful, the pool area is excellent, the rooms are well equipped and the restaurant is excellent (we did not dine in the Michelin starred one). However, the service, and the approach to service did not quite match the setting. There was a general lack of presence - we had breakfast at 7am when the service starts, but had to find someone to come and serve us! This could/should be a 5 star visit, but even though the manager gave us a handwritten apology (and a jar of honey from their local apiary) as an apology for the poor service, I can still only give 4 stars."

Ilgo Hotel Hotels in Perugia

Ilgo Hotel

"This Hotel is literally hidden away under a cliff on the main road into Perugia old town. Lots of signs so you can find it easily On arrival there are plenty of spaces to park and only a 2mtr walk to the door. The reception staff are fantastic and make you feel welcome soon as you step through the door. We checked in with Andre who was charming, spoke excellent English and was more than helpful. Our room was at the front and the views were amazing. We don't normally eat in our Hotel but decided as we were tired we would. What can I say but FANTASTIC FOOD AND SERVICE. We decided that we would eat in every night. For those who are gluten intolerant or coeliac the menu caters for you. A shuttle bus is available to take you up into the old town x3 in the morning and it's literally a 20min walk back, down hill. I can't praise the Ilgo enough. It's a must for us on our next Perugian stay."

Hotel Sacro Cuore

"One night but really all wonderful from the availability of Susanna's kindness and sympathy, the excellent director, to the clean room, profumed and spacious, not to mention breakfast, with salt and sweet, with very good and affectionate cakes made at home. Then the place near the city is at the same time in the countryside. Super recommended compliments"

"Very cosy B&B located in a quiet area away from the center of Perugia. The balcony from our room offered a beautiful view of nearby Perugia. The staff were very helpful and responsive. Room was spacious, well looked after. The room we stayed in does not have any step in the bathroom, making it accessible for those in need."

Hotel Rosalba ★★
"When I saw the reception I was a bit afraid of what the rooms would be like, even though I had read nothing but good reviews. But my room was fine and very neatly maintained. We were received very kindly. Breakfast is in a bar around the corner. Not very extensive but enough choice. We were also received very friendly there and everything was neatly explained. The location of the hotel is great. There are escalators across the hotel that lead you to the center. We will definitely come back again."

"Everything was broken or closed. Bar = closed Sink = broken Spa = closed down Reception = all staff go home and leave the hostel unattended. Showers = poor, no curtains so everything is soaked. Far from train station, uphill. Could be a lot better with a little bit of work"
