Sunrise Village Beach Hotel

We recently returned from a one week stay at Sunrise Village and as a family with 2 young children, this hotel was perfectly suitable for us. We have travelled to many Greek islands before but never mainland Greece so this was somewhere new for us. The setting is breathtaking, uninterrupted views of the sea and mountains, a view you would never tire of. The pool area is beautiful, with tiered levels of sun loungers and parasols, always plenty available. The pool facilities were excellent, with a separate shallow kid’s pool and a small waterpark just a 5-minute walk across the complex. Lifeguard on duty at the water park, who is great. No lifeguard at the main pool. Location – the hotel is standalone with no shops or restaurants in the immediate vicinity, which we were aware of at time of booking. We took a short 10 minute taxi ride into Petalidi which was really lovely and enjoyed exploring the village with some nice cafes and restaurants, a few small shops and supermarkets, as well as a pharmacy if required. Accommodation – our initial room was very basic, just 4 single beds in a row, and the shower was lukewarm at best, however after some issues with our air con unit, we were moved to an executive room which was of a much better standard, so if we were to return I’d definitely book an executive room. The hotel staff were excellent at handling this issue and reception staff were always helpful. Food and drink – we found the restaurant food to be excellent, we love Greek food so were more than happy with the variety of traditional Greek options available each day, as well as plenty of fresh salad, fruit and home-made pizza. The restaurant team work incredibly hard to keep things turning over. We liked the alcoholic and non-alcoholic self service cocktails at the pool bar, however we were disappointed that there was no ice cream available at the pool bar - this was only available at lunch time and evening meal time. Any all-inclusive hotel we have been to before, has had ice cream available all day for the kids. Entertainment – this was run by the tour operators, none of them British, which wasn’t an issue as everything was spoken in English anyway. It was a little amateur, however, our kids enjoyed the evening mini disco most nights. The kids club was excellent, our children enjoyed bracelet making, rock painting, butterfly hunt, and visits to the play park. Timings were not clear as most of the information displayed around the hotel was not in English. The airport is really small and basic, there is a small duty free shop and some vending machines, but these are not available once you move to your departure gate so make sure to buy any drinks or snacks before going to gate! We would absolutely return to this hotel! Please ignore the negative reviews!

We really can't see the why so much negativity, rooms are good ,cleaning the view we had was good,good choice of food including greek dishes .Drinks could be better not a complaint an observation. All staff always had a smile and helpful. Would we recommend the Sunrise Village Hotel certainly would 👌 Nice location Petalidi is superb with old Greek charm. Thanks for a great stay.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. Everything was clean and comfortable, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the location was perfect. The atmosphere was relaxing and we really enjoyed our time here. Everything was even better than we expected. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel. We stayed at this hotel in mid-September and had a great time. The weather was wonderful, the rooms were comfortable, and the sea was very close. We chose all-inclusive and were very satisfied. Highly recommended for a peaceful seaside holiday!

We’ve just returned from 7nights here. This is not part of the incentive by the hotel to put a good review and get a gift! The hotel and facilities is not a 4 star but more a lower end 3. Firstly it is clean and the domestic staff do a wonderful job. The other reviews stating the cleaners didn’t clean rooms was not true for us, they came every day and beds changed every 3days which is ample! The grounds of the hotel are immaculate and the views are stunning. The environment rivals many 5star resorts! It massively depends what you want from a holiday. If you want a holiday on a sun lounger either by pool or beach then it is perfect for you. There is nothing nearby except a small village/town 40 min walk or €6 in a taxi, but consists of supermarket pharmacy and coffee shops. Not somewhere really to visit. There is nowhere on an evening to walk to and as the season is winding down there was no evening entertainment or any radio playing. The evenings are long and on the day of rain it was hard to occupy yourself. The food was lovely, salad bar with ample choice and a small selection of warm offerings. No it’s not a lot of choice but there is always something you can eat and what there is, is good quality. I personally think the food and drink is what lets the place down! The soft drinks are all local so not taste used to and very artificial. But there are water coolers around to fill bottles which is very good! Would we return again? No but mainly because the world is a big place so never return to a hotel. I also need more to do personally but the staff were very friendly and the place is clean. Ultimately you get what you pay for! My only complaint was the lack of signage around the pool demonstrating the depth. Given a lady drowned at the hotel in July, you would think this would be advertised more. There is a part which is unexpectedly deep and several people had difficulty whilst there. There are lifeguards on duty but usually on their phones or messing around in the pool. Would not have confidence in them saving someone! We also were subjected to a conversation between the lifeguard with the shaved hair, tall and slender who was discussing young girls in their bikinis to 3 male guests. He was staring she looks over 16 so it is fine. Ordinarily I would have said something but female versus 4 men whilst in a swimming pool was not something I was willing to do! But this is very disappointing that someone paid to keep people safe is openly having inappropriate conversations about guests whilst other guests are around! Aside from this we did have a nice break here. I personally believe if you expect a 3 star and 3 star facilities you will be happy! The place is clean, the staff; Maria and Izi on the bar. The pool bar lady (didn’t grab her name) and Maria on reception were all friendly and went the extra mile!

Amazing place, we had a fantastic weeks holiday, from the start to end. The rooms were nice, air con, fridge,tv and wifi. The meals were excellent, great choice every day, refreshed regularly. Most of all the staff were amazing ,helpful, friendly and very caring, probably the best yet. We cannot thank your team for providing for us all week and making special memories. We look forward to coming back next year. Once again, a massive thankyou to all.
