Popped in after writing the day off due to the downpour over Dartmoor. Pleasantly surprised. Pinched some seats next to the fire place and ordered some afternoon tea. Scones were warm and soft and the cream was delicious, would highly recommend. Cream tea choices were traditional, gluten free and vegan. GF hit the spot. Very comfortable seating scattered about. Outdoor space also looked peaceful with lovely scenery but too wet on the day to enjoy properly. Definitely worth a visit if in Dartmoor.

The room was very comfortable and the four poster bed was so comfy. The room had comfortable easy chairs with beautiful views from the windows on two sides. The bathroom and shower were pretty special.

Second time to visit in last few weeks. 1st time everything was really nice so we booked again. But the second time it just wasn't pleasant. The overarching issue was the cleanliness - the carpet was covered in bits of food and the table tops were a bit sticky. The service was very friendly but a bit too familiar. The staff didn't seem to keep an eye on customers so you had to keep asking for service. The food was a bit over sauced and oiled. And then a visit to the loos - ugh. There was loo paper in the hall to the loos and in the loos it was all over the floor and the loos themselves needed a good clean. By this point I was feeling uncomfortable in the place and couldn't wait to get out. When I got home I needed some toast to take away the taste. I think they were missing a good manager - the first time there was a good manager on but she had had to keep on top of the staff as they were a bit unfocused. I have been put off going again.

Had a lovely meal at the Two Bridges, Fish and Chips but very nicely presented and tasted just right. Home made Tartare Sauce too.

Stayed here just the one night, lovely setting delightful old building, comfy bed soft pillows. Carole on reception was very friendly and Poppy in the restaurant was certainly on top of her game, very efficient, attentive yet not intrusive. The chef also deserves a mention as the food was delicious. Will definitely be returning. Well done team.

This stay was arranged as treat for me by my girlfriend. She chose the nicest suite of rooms which had plenty of place and full of old (in a nice traditional way) furniture and fittings. The room was warm and comfortable. The bed was superb! The bathroom, yes, it had a large bath (and shower) was luxurious, the water pressure very good and the water hot. When we arrived we enjoyed a drink and crisps in the lounge until our room was ready. After a walk up towards Wistman’s Wood, we had a lovely evening meal. The battered haddock was delicious and the service excellent. In the morning the breakfast in the restaurant was also excellent and the portions generous. Overall, the whole ambience and feel of our stay was relaxing and enjoyable. A lovely stress-free moment in our busy lives. Thank you to all the team!

Stayed a Sunday night, as part of a tour. Located in middle of Dartmoor National Park. Accessed by a typical narrow country road, but good free parking. No lift to guest rooms. Room spacious, quiet, clean, well equipped, comfortable. The whole hotel, including rooms, is furnished in quirky 'old style' decor - numerous old clocks and fasciniting b&w photos. Lovely gardens, river and stone bridge. Staff helpful and efficient. Excellent dining and bar, with lovely outdoor areas - but can get very crowed on summer/holiday weekends.

We stopped for lunch. We ordered at the bar and sat outside. We waited a long time for our food to be served which was surprising considering they weren’t exactly busy. The food came out tepid. The open steak sandwich was mean beyond belief three or four small slivers of steak a strange tasting pickle? £20! Not good. No condiments on the table. The food was plonked down without the waitress asking if we needed anything else. I had to call out to ask for ketchup when she came back with it I asked for salt at which point she rudely laughed in our face as if to say ‘ honestly anything else while I’m at it’. I think she forgot she was a waitress and we were customers. Really bland if not disagreeable food, appalling service and rude attitude.

Fathers Day, Sunday lunch. Great food and service as ever. Never fails to deliver, one of the best places to go in the area. Afternoon tea is a must, a real treat. Rooms are also really lovely, if you’re in the mood for an evening away, and then waking up to an awesome breakfast.
