"The hotel is a standard Travelodge clean but basic in other words exactly what was booked. There was a booking error on my part and Lucia the receptionist dealt with it quickly and efficiently and with a smile glad she could rectify the situation. She most definitely deserves the 5 stars given. Working away most of the time I see a lot of hotels and staff, Lucia’s positive, friendly and helpful attitude is certainly very refreshing"

"The family room was quite big with good air-conditioning and shower pressure but had no fridge. There was a decently sized swimming pool and the saunas were excellent especially the steam room which was hot and wet enough. For dinner, the starters were very good with various choices; unfortunately the steak of £37 was totally over-priced and over-rated. The breakfast was fair and didn’t have hot chocolate/chocolate milk."

The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a great night’s sleep, and the overall setup was both stylish and practical. Everything worked perfectly — from the lighting and heating to the shower and Wi-Fi — which made my stay completely hassle-free. I could tell the hotel takes pride in keeping everything well maintained and comfortable for guests. The hotel itself has a lovely charm. The decor is elegant without being overdone, and the entire property has a calm, welcoming feel. The communal areas were tidy and relaxing, and I noticed great attention to detail throughout — from the fresh, inviting scent in the corridors to the neatly arranged furniture in the lounge area. The location is ideal too. The Queensgate Hotel is close enough to Peterborough city centre to be convenient, but far enough to offer peace and quiet. It’s easy to reach by car, and there’s on-site parking, which made things even more convenient. Whether visiting for business or leisure, it’s perfectly situated for exploring the city and nearby attractions. While I didn’t use the restaurant or bar on this trip, they looked very inviting, and I’ll definitely try them next time. It’s clear that this hotel is run with real care and attention — everything feels personal and thoughtfully managed. Overall, The Queensgate Hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. It combines comfort, cleanliness, and genuine hospitality at a great value. I left feeling completely relaxed and impressed by the quality of service. "Arrived late evening. Only needed an affordable bed for a night. Welcoming receptionist. Animal times to register and get key. Up and out at 5 am. Slept well. No catering needed. . Value for money and close to the train station."

"Friendly, welcoming and very helpful reception staff. Room was very clean, however the bath tub could have been cleaned thoroughly and a few tiles needed repair. Generally it is a very nice and comfortable hotel."

"The Newark is a budget hotel about a mile from Peterborough city centre, so it may not be ideal for tourists (it's popular with forwarders, construction workers and such). But you can easily reach it by bus (lines 5, 5a) from the centre. The hotel was still being refurbished when I arrived, and my en-suite double was certainly modern and clean. The bathroom facilities I found to be excellent, except there was no rag for the towels to dry, and the bathroom door didn't have a cylinder (yet?). The shower was big (no curtain or door though), and the water pressure adequate (not a given in budget hotels). The bed was comfy, and there was enough storage for my clothes and stuff. A 32" flat-screen Tv was provided, with a remote. Free Wifi was available, too. I really wish they would have provided a toilet brush though! Early check-in went smoothly (direct email contact with the hotel was excellent), don't be put off by the gloomy-looking reception area. There's a very basically furnished garden to the back where you can hang out. The room service was a bit spotty, but I really didn't need it every day anyway. ;)"
