Anoulackkhenlao Hotel ★★★

📍 059, 4 Ban Phonsavanxay, Phonsavan

"Overall, it was nice, but the bathroom was a little inconvenient. The water didn't flow smoothly, so I think it needs some work."

Vansana Plain of Jars Hotel
7.3 (28 reviews)

Vansana Plain of Jars Hotel ★★★

📍 F646+XC2, Phonsavan

"Reading other reviews I am not sure what people expect sometimes . This is an old, dated 2 star hotel . It doesn’t claim to be anything other than that . The rooms were basic but comfortable. The bathrooms were dated but clean and functional. Breakfast was simple but plentiful . Dinner was the same . If you are going to the Plain of Jars then stay here"

Sipanya Guesthouse

Pukyo Bed and Breakfast Belgian Lao

Pukyo Bed and Breakfast Belgian Lao ★★★

📍 Unnamed Road, Phonsavan

"We are a widely travelled couple in our 50's and recommend Pukyo for travelers of all ages. The owners are a Belgian and Lao couple who live next door and their help, service and hospitality is unbelievable. David drove us to and from the airport as well as to an interesting silk farm. We got to know his daughters and he cooked breakfast for us and a delicious curry for dinner. Sakhone took us on an all day tour of the highlights of the areas including three Plain of Jars sites. She is so knowledgable, a good driver and is fun to hang out with. The rooms are clean and basic with some homey touches. The bed was comfortable and it was pretty quiet. Phonsavanh is not an easy place to get to (a short flight is best) but it is worth it as this is an interesting area of Laos to go to after you have visited Luang Prabang, Vang Vieng and Vientiane - it has a lot of important history. Vansana Plain of Jars Hotel ★★★
"Clean and comfortable hotel with beautiful views. The staff were friendly, and the breakfast was good, although the service was a bit slow. I visited in July, so I didn’t get to use the fireplace, but it looks like it would make the hotel extra cozy during the winter. Overall, I had a pleasant stay."

Pukyo Bed and Breakfast Belgian Lao ★★★
"Pukyo is a 5-room B&B run by David who is a very friendly and helpful host. We got a room on the ground floor which was excellent for my husband who does not walk well let alone climb stairs. It was a big family room with a king-sized double bed and 2 singles. There is an ensuite bathroom with a very good hot-water heater. The bathroom floor gets wet and slippery after the shower but there is an anti-slip mat and Daivd knows about the problem which he is going to fix this summer. The aircon is very powerful and there's also a wall fan as an option. There's also a small TV but we did not use it. The B&B is about 4 min from the airport and less than 10 from town. David will take you to town for dinner in his comfortable van and wait for you. He very kindly bought dinner back for us the 2nd night as my husband was too tired to go out. There's a fridge stocked with beers and drinks and a water dispenser in the living area. We had wonderful chats with David who is a great font of knowledge and felt like we were staying with a friend rather than a commercial lodging. There are mosquitoes in the evening but David sells lemongrass -scented repellent for 11,000LAK - very effective also for outdoor tours. David has a outdoor seating area at the back and it's a very peaceful and pleasant place for breakfast or a beer at sundown. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with David."
