Sugar Marina Hotel - Nautical - Kata Beach

Kata Beach Phuket|0.23km from Kata Rocks Infinite Luxury Spa
Really lovely hotel, good value for money. Located conveniently in short 5 minutes walk from Kata beach and 10 minutes from less crowded Kata Noi. A bit uphill, but the climb is short and not difficult at all. A few nice Thai food cafes and European-like Two Chefs with the best burgers nearby, also a Family Mart and good massage (Tum Rub) just a couple of steps from the hotel. Things we loved about the hotel: awesome design, real king-size bed (but it's hard and not everyone loves that), cozy sofa. No unpleasant smells from the sewer, decent wi-fi (enough for video conference calls and remote work) and air conditioner that does its job extremely well. Also: most welcoming personnel ever! Coffee on call service is the best :) Things we found less pleasant: the hotel isn't brand new and it starts showing in small details like lime-covered tap in the bathroom or dented basement of the sofa. The bathrooms aren't completely separated from the rooms, you'll hear every sound and smell every bad smell. The hotel building is located next to a busy road, so it could bother you if you're a light sleeper. The cleanliness isn't perfect and they changed our linen maybe once a week. The shower, though hot, was weak (no hope to wash out sand from your hair). I also can't quite recommend the restaurant in the hotel, the food is expensive and you wait for it for ages. Although the breakfast seemed to have lots of varieties and looked decent enough. All in all, there are some downsides, but overall it's a good place to stay.

So, why not start a five star review with the one “negative” thing I could find. The STEPS. If you’re super sportive you won’t mind. If you’re more on the pudgy side … I died 3 times a day. But … you can ask for a car to take you up to your building. They will gladly drive you. Every time. And that sums up everything on the negative side. Now for all the positive. The super friendly always helpful always smiling staff. The spacious modern rooms with an awesome view of the ocean and the beach. The big - let’s stay in it all day because it’s so cozy - bed. Open design .. so no more heavy closets. Air conditioning was exceptional. Strong and quiet. Super cold refrigerator. We were even able to freeze our own ice cubes with the daily supply of free bottled water. Btw there’s a mini market right across the street for all your needs and desires. The super sumptuous breakfast. They have three fully automated coffee makers for cappuccino, latte, espresso and coffee. Fresh fruit. Juice. Huge egg station. Pancakes. French toast. Warm dishes. Salad bar. Different varieties of bread. Pool. Pool bar (Happy Hour from 3-4 pm) it’s buy one get one free for beers and cocktails. Shuttle service - a couple times a day - to Kata and Kata Noi beach - even though it only takes 6 or 15 minutes to get there by foot. There was literally nothing I could seriously complain about. Stay here. Feel welcomed. You’ll leave with a big smile on your face.

A very luxurious hotel with a brilliant view. Staff are exceptional, nothing was too much trouble! Close to shops, money exchanges and transport. Hotel was also able to arrange transport to anywhere you wanted to go. We stayed in a one bed ocean view loft (villa 502) which was on lower level, close to the restaurant, bar, spa and gym so only had to walk a few steps to everything and it was exceptionally quiet. You felt like you were the only ones there! Having your own infinity pool was a treat. Hotel supplied everything you needed for free each day including beer, cans of soft drink, sparking water, still water, fruit, peanuts and dried mango. You were given a phone to call reception 24/7 for whatever you might require whilst at the hotel or to call them if you needed something whist out and about. The phone also allowed you to make free international calls, how good is that!. It was magical sitting in the restaurant or bar at night watching the sunset. The food was always delicious and beautifully presented. Could not think of a better place to stay!

I’ve stayed in this gorgeous little hotel for 9 days with my mum, as part of her Birthday Trip in South East Asia and loved every single moment of our time there. Actually for the 1st time I felt like staying in someone’s private, luxurious home rather then the hotel. Mom Tri’s Villa is beautifully furnished in traditional Thai style, very functional on every level and provides it’s guests with possibly one of the best views on Phuket, thanks to it’s picturesque location on a little cliff overlooking Kata Noi Beach and the Andaman Sea. We’ve chosen to stay in an Ocean Wing for the ultimate privacy and tranquility and couldn’t have made a better choice. The staff were all lovely - friendly and approachable. Thank you for a little Birthday treat for my mum - she loved it and so did I. We already miss this little piece of Thai paradise and wouldn’t hesitate for a moment to visit again in the future.

The hotel staff were very nice and kind and fluent in English. The rooms were always cleaned and amenities always replaced. The breakfast is very good and diverse. The hotel also has a great view and is clean. Plenty of restaurant nearby and fun places to go. Beaches are all close and great.

The view at this hotel is worth a million bucks. We were very lucky to have gotten an upgrade, as the room we booked had a leak. The upgraded room is super spacious, with an amazing pool and view of the ocean and beach. We were so fortunate to see the most beautiful sunsets every evening. Overall the staff have been very friendly and helpful, however we were not greeted upon arrival and leaving, and we had to carry our own suitcase (no one even offered to help) and walk down and up a lot of steps (in the humid weather). This have never happened in any hotel or resort we stayed in previously. Thus I believe the quality of service has room for improvements, yet with that being said I believe for the price they are charging it's worthy every penny. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a great view and spacious room.
