Admiral's Inn and Gunpowder Suites

Stayed in the main house, beautiful view across the harbour, Stunning heritage site , Comfortable room with all amenities, Breakfast superb with amazing views, Boom restaurant and sun beds opposite, Recommend Caribbean taste local restaurant ( authentic food ) Moon beach a must visit , wow factor. We did two centre holiday along with gallley bay resort ( recommend) great way to see all of Antigua

Our stay at the Admiral’s Inn and Gunpowder Suites was the absolute highlight of our time in Antigua. We stayed in the Garden Suites, which offered a stunning, direct view of the historic stone pillars—waking up to that sight every morning was truly special. The hotel effortlessly balances its 1780s heritage with modern comforts, making it feel like a private sanctuary in the heart of Nelson's Dockyard. What truly set this stay apart, however, was the incredible team: • Reggie at the Bar: A huge shout-out to Reggie. His dry humor and expert cocktail skills kept us entertained every evening; he looked after us so well and quickly became a highlight of our daily routine. • Cecil & the Shuttle: We loved the little boat shuttle between the resorts. Cecil, the driver, is an absolute legend. Not only was he always there to get us across the water, but he even went above and beyond to sort us out with a day at a local cricket match—a fantastic local experience we wouldn't have had without him. Between the breakfast views over the harbor, the peacefulness of the Garden Suites, and the personalized care from the staff, this place is 10/10. If you want character, history, and a team that genuinely cares, look no further.

Feb 1st... Fab place for our meal on a Sunday evening .. Ambience, vista & the sound of happy diners could not be faulted. The friendly & witty service from Yanira in tandem with great drinks from Reggie book ended the evening.. thankyou.. Ps:..the food.. yummaliscious

From the moment we walked in, the ambience was perfect—cozy yet elegant. It was a rainy day, and the staff provided us with fresh towels and a nice refreshments. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable. As for the food, every dish was bursting with flavour and beautifully presented. Huge well done. This is definitely my new favourite spot!"

The room was very out-dated and was in the ceiling which was sloped. Was only able to go on the bed from one side of the room. It rained early morning and below the room is where the workers shelter from the rain, so their conversation could be heard above and it was quite loud and vile. We were moved after my complaint, but my husband forgot his equipment to hook up to either Wifi or internet service in the room and when we discovered he didn't have it and called the front desk, it was already missing from the room. Too far from the town and the taxi cab tried to pursuade us to buy into his timeshare or stay at his place the next time we were in Antigua.

Most comfortable hotel bed ever! We stayed on the Gunpowder Suites side of the Admiral’s Inn & Gunpowder Suites. The staff were wonderful (especially Paul and Cecil who provided our transport). The room was clean and comfortable. Did I mention how spectacularly comfortable the beds are? The only complaint that I have and that guests should be aware of is the loud, window-rattling music from the Abracadabra nightclub across the harbor on Friday and Saturday nights. Staff at Admiral’s Inn & Gunpowder Suites notified us ahead of time to expect the noise and to make complaints if it got too loud, but we were also told that the complaints were not acted upon by Abracadabra or the local police. Despite the warning, I was still not prepared for the EDM volume level and the rattling of windows from the music on the gunpowder suite we stayed in. I did not sleep from 10:30pm-3:30am the two Friday and Saturday nights we were there. I recommend either booking on the Admiral’s Inn side where there is more of a sound buffer or only book the Gunpowder suites Sunday-Thursday.

Was an awesome experience. We were surprised better than we expected once we arrived at the Resort. From check in to check out could not be more pleased with the stay. My wife was surprised with room decorated for her Birthday with flowers and Champagne. Pool, Restaurant and amenities were fantastic. Will definitely will return to this beautiful place.

We found a good deal on a flight at the end of November and booked that and Admiral’s Inn kind of last minute (considering it would Dec 28- Jan 4). I saw the resort and really wanted to stay there, they just did not have a room for the entire stay. My husband called and talked to Marian, who said she could work it out, it just meant moving rooms a few times. We decided to try it. Well we were delighted with our stay. We got to stay in the Main Hotel, a Garden suite, and a Gunpowder suite. I loved all 3 for different reasons. The hotel being located within the Nelson’s Dockyard Park made for such a beautiful and interesting setting. Ferry boat across to Boom and to the beach ( Galleon Beach/ Freeman’s Bay) was always courteous ( Cecil was so nice). The food at the Pillars (the waitstaff was amazing- all of them) and Boom (Michelle and Sherene were great) was great every time. We celebrated New years eve at the Pillars and the fireworks in the harbour just put it over the top. Everyone greeted us warmly and knew us as being the ones who kept moving rooms. The management team talked to us several times asking earnestly about how our vacation was going. When we went to Galleon beach we rented beach chairs and had lunch and drinks at Loose Cannon which was great. We did the challenging Carpenter’s trail up to Shirley’s Heights passing the Mermaid Pool. We did the Rum Academy Masterclass and blending which was informative and fun. We walked to all of the restaurants we ate at off resort. We included the breakfast in our stay, which was amazing and lots of options. The pool was never over crowded and we always found lounge chairs. There was a grocery store that sold wine beer and liquor very close to the hotel. There’s not really much I could say negative for the hotel or the vacation for that matter. Highly recommend!
