Okay for the Price The hotel is located in a backstreet off West Street in Pingyao. Initially we had problems finding it, but the map on Trip.com is reasonably accurate. The courtyard itself is stunning, really well maintained and decorated. You can really feel you are in old Pingyao. The room was okay. Positive: the bed was pretty comfortable, the wall sockets support EU (Type C) plugs, and they provided water for our stay. The location was right in the heart of old Pingyao which was really convenient for exploring the ancient city. Improvements: The room was in need of renovation, the decoration were worn out and the shower was quite rusted. They did provide a kettle but no cups to drink from and the glass in the bathroom was dirty. We also couldn’t find any staff or a way to contact them for help getting a cup. The room was also quite noisy in the day, with a photography shop using the courtyard directly outside our room for shoots. Overall if you’re looking for a budget courtyard experience that serves as a place to lay your head, this is what the hotel provides well.

Manting Guesthouse exceeded our expectations! It's a charming, ancient-style courtyard with a clean and tidy environment. The room facilities are new, and we had a peaceful night's sleep. The owner and staff were warm and attentive, even patiently helping us plan our itinerary for exploring the ancient city. The location is convenient for visiting the old town – it's quiet yet centrally located. Highly recommended!

The courtyard environment is nice and has a great atmosphere, but the room itself was a huge disappointment. Maybe that's just how guesthouses in the old town are, but the bed had a sunken spring in the middle that creaked and was really uncomfortable. The bathroom walls were all dark and grimy, and the bed curtains didn't close properly, leaving a big gap at the top. I hope they can improve the room's living conditions. Also, the promised free clothing experience never materialized.

Staying in an ancient building was a unique experience, but not very comfortable. I guess I got what I signed up for. From the high-speed rail station, you have to take a taxi to the entrance of the old town. After that, it's about a 700-meter shuttle/walk to the hotel. It's a real struggle if you have luggage, dealing with stairs and the cobblestone streets of the old town.

The owner was great; they arranged a pick-up for us as soon as we arrived at the station. The location is excellent, right inside the ancient city, and the room environment is nice with a very large bed. My only issue was the water pressure, which was inconsistent.

The hotel is located inside Pingyao Ancient City. Cars have to park outside the city wall, and it's about an 11-12 minute walk to reach it. The hotel environment is absolutely beautiful, no complaints there. However, the shower drain in the room was a bit slow and didn't drain well.
